Well I was flashing a rom last night and I think I bricked my phone. I can receive calls, but I cannot make calls. When I call someone, I get a message stating I cannot make calls because Verizon cannot authenticate my phone. I also have no data and can't go online.
I tried to recover my Fascinate using The Odin & Heimdall methods described here. Neither has worked. I'm not sure how to proceed from this point on. I would greatly appreciate your help.
so after you ODIN'd back to stock, did you try to *228?
or did you only try to make regular calls?
I would ODIN another time just to be sure... if you have another phone lying around, try activating that phone with your current number, get your current phone to stock, then reprogram it w/ *228

Yes I flashed to stock. I have done multiple flashes. I did also try *228. The lovely voice said my phone was successfully activated, but it's still not working.

That did it. Seems to be working fine. Verizon had to push a security update to my phone. Thanks for your help.
No problem bro. Glad to help.

Hello, Ive searched for an answer to this but couldnt find one.
Whenever I flash a rom I always get super fast battery drainage, and random shutoffs every 5 minutes. What is the deal?
This is what I used to root/load the custom rom on my phone.

How many roms have you flashed? Have you tried reflashing the same rom?

I have tried with with the newest versions of Aurxora and Nero. And yes I flashed the nero twice and it still has super fast battery drainage and a lot of shutdowns.

I KNOW!
does your phone just soft reboot every 5 minutes? like it doesn't show the whole vibrant screen, just the tmobile and stuff.
i had this problem when i was on stock, and i called tmobile (didnt know about xda yet) and they told me to go boot into recovery, then choose... clear user data or something, and that erased everything(except sim and sd card ofc.) and fixed it, try that?
else, start using ODIN, to fix possibly every non-hardware issue.

if you are able to get into download mode, i suggest you odin back is the best answer i can give you, and if that doesn't solve your problem, call tmobile and return it for another new/refurb(most likely a refurb)

I do not think theres a problem with the phone because this only started happening once I installed a custom rom. Im thinking I just messed up somewhere.

every once in a while you must odin back to stock and start flashing, because if you keep flashing roms over and over without odin, they all leave behind a little bit of data, which keeps bugging the new version you have, and so on.
Turn off phone, take battery out.
get a computer, get your usb cord.
take battery out
plug in usb to a turned on computer
after usb, hold ONLY AND BOTH volume buttons.
while holding the buttons put in the battery.
it should now show a android digging with a yellow sign.
if your there, you can fix it, if not, try a few times again, and if you absolutely cannot get it to do this, then you have a hardware locked vibrant, which i don't know much about.
If you DO get on the download mode( yellow android digging)
go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
download the Samsung Drivers if you don't already have them, you may need to re-do everything i said up there again so the computer regcognizes your phone.
Your going to need to download a program called ODIN.
found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8863820&postcount=138
open odin while your phones in download mode, on the top does it say COM3, COM5 etc? any number at end is good, but if it says COM it means the computer has recognized your phone thats a good job.
now you need to download 2-3 more files which will take you to stock, unrooted everything like that.
for the sake of time, i have to leave, but i found you a thread with exact instructions as mine, and with other helpful things as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799105
Well... if you're definition of battery drain extremely fast is 10-12 hours then that's all you're going to get, deal with it. But if somehow you're getting like 4-6 around this area that's not normal.
Make sure you have GPS and WIFI OFF and bluetooth also when you're not using them.
Use titanium backup pro to freeze all the apps you don't use, especially preinstalled apps like wifi calling and the like.
Or, wipe battery stats and recondition or use this link to flash stock rom and this should fix any unknown problems

Hey all,
Alright so i seen the update today for ICS, phone was rooted but stock rom.
During my first update attempt i got a phone call while it said please wait. Phone crashed and couldnt get out of recovery.
So i went home and flashed back to stock using odin. everything worked fine. was prompted again to update so i did.
This time it went through the process but got hung up at the samsung boot screen.
So i tried to flash back to stock again but now once it boots i get a force close on everything.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

It's easy,
Put the phone in download mode with USB NOT connected.
Start Kies
Plug in the USB, don't worry if it's not connected...doesn't need to be..
Go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
This will get the latest version of FW on your phone. It wipes all, but since you are stuck and can't do a backup anyway...just do it.

If you can get to CWM as you say ...
Simply restore a backup.....
If you have one....and if not ....flash a new rom.
If no rom exists ...pull your SD card and use an adapter to put one there from PC...
That's all I've got for tonight ....g
I tried flashing custom recovery and when i rebooted my phone it went into download mode. i tried using the one click odin restore but now its stuck on, "Firmware Upgrade Encountered An Issue. Please Select Recovery Mode In Kies & Try Again" I downloaded Kies and installed drivers and followed instructions but it keeps failing to find my device. Also I am now reading somewhere else that Kies will not solve this issue any way and I still cant find a solution to this problem.
Found a solution here is a link in case anyone else runs into this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259

After i got an ME7 phone i tried using odin to go back to MDK (i was desperate and ignorant) and this happened to me.
You can odin the ME7 stock image and it'll be fine..... but i recommend that you either call or go to a verizon, tell them your problem and they should send you a replacement...... also start praying that what they send you is an MDK
my humble suggestion :silly:
Edit: my bad, go you!

Would it be bad to ask for a replacement with MDK? Just curious, because I'm afraid my GS4 I'm receiving Monday will come with ME7.
You can try but im doubting they will. If it was at a verizon store or best buy generally they dont mind.

Like hexitnow said, if you got ME7 you have nothing to lose (sadly) so feel free to give it a go.
the lady at my verizon store was a witch but they're all different, not a bad idea to try another store if it doesn't work the first time haha

@the_ziom i had the same annoying Refreshing SIM DATA popup until yesterday, i bought my Note 4 unlocked, it came with kitkat, so after flashing lollipop this message started to appear. its annoying for sure and i couldn't find a solid fix on the internet, i even thought i had a faulty device, well, it came to my conclusions that when i was using kikat my problem was gone and after lollipop it started to appear again and again, so what i did i flashed my Kitkat Modem on Lollipop rom, guess what??
ITS GONEEEEE, and im finally happy with my device i have better signal better battery life, its incredible what a modem can cause, well i hope you do the same and PLEASE REPORT BACK, this also helped another friend here on xda who had the same issue, now hes happy too, i hope this fix work for you, cheers:fingers-crossed::highfive:
