Pink spot camera problem - HTC EVO 3D

I did search but nothing came up about EVO 3D and pink spot camera. I had HD2 and it was a widespread issue, so that was the first thing I checked when i got EVO 3D... I have 2 EVO 3D, one has and one has not. Anyone has this problem?

I had this problem with my og EVO and it got a lot worse over about a 2 week time frame. I also had a weird banding issue when there was a lot or direct light. I took it in and was told that the cam sensor was bad and they replaced the camera for me.

Is it me or is the screens whites a bit more yellowish?
Comparing it to my EVO it looks that way.

This was also a complaint in some reviews. It's speculated that it may have something to do with the layer of film on the screen for 3d purposes. Glad I didn't pre order, I know a lot of people have the phone already and I don't see the OMFGTHISFONROXBBQ posts yet.

If would be great if you could post a side by side shot of both the evo4g and evo3d. I am sure I am not the only one who wants to see it.

I'll do it when I get mine...though, I'll probably be the 59th to do it
I don't think it may just be the 3D, my sisters shift is the same way. I think its because I got the novatec panel on my EVO. I got no complaints cause the phone looks gorgeous

All I've seen is that it doesn't have the purple tint anymore, and looks AWESOME.

Can't wait for tomorrow
I have all my iPhone buddies drooling over this screen.
I think it really depends on what panel your EVO had. I know that the Novatec was much whiter than the Epson. I would say this was more like the Novatec.

Here, let me help you out:
OMFGTHISFONROXBBQ!!!!!!!!!!!
The 3D is SENSATIONAL! I made a video of my friend's salt water fish tank last night, and it looks BAD ASS. Everyone I've showed it to has had to pick up their jaws from off of the floor. I haven't tested the video's on my 3DTV yet because I don't have the MHL adapter, but today when I get home, I'm going to try playing the video via DLNA on the PS3 and see if I can get it to work.
The phone is blazing fast and seamless. Remember the OG Evo how it would slow down for a 5-10 seconds while an app was installing? Well, that is gone. GPU handles games that used to lag perfectly (i.e. Gun Bros). Sense 3.0 rules.
This phone is as fresh as the Evo was a year ago, and it makes the Evo feel like a dinosaur in comparison.

3D is pretty cool, but I've discovered that the phone gets stuck in 2D mode a lot... I have to move the switch to 2D, then back to 3D, for it to start the 3D mode sometimes...

I can't say I've experienced that. It takes 2-3 seconds to switch from one mode to the other, but I haven't had anything get stuck or lag on this phone at all. My only complaint (if you wanna call it that) is that the high resolution makes the keyboard a little smaller and my fat clumsy fingers can't type as well as I did on the Evo, but I'll get used to it.

[Q] Yellowed screens on Evo 3D

I just recently switched from an Evo 4G to a new Evo 3D. After about an hour of having it I noticed something was off with the screen. It had a yellowish tint to it (I've had an Evo 4G and a Nexus S 4G do this out of the box also). Now I did return the phone to get one that had a correctly functioning screen, but my question is this: Has anyone else experienced this with the Evo 3D? I did notice that the serial number on the 3Ds with the yellowed screens were HT17 models and the one I ended up with that had a good screen was an HT16.
P.S. I just want other users thoughts on this. I don't want people telling me to just exchange the phone. Has anyone else with the HT17 models experienced this? There were three Evo 3Ds that I have seen do this.
I have an HT17 serial number and my screen is not yellowish tint at all. Very happy with the whites.
My best guess is that this Sprint store received a bad batch. Or I just have bad luck considering I have run across 5 yellowed screens across 3 different products.
I have a ht16 now and i got the yellowish screen. I had 2 before that was bright whites but I dont remember what they were. I dont know if i really wanna exchange again since everything else is good and dont want to end something worse
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
my original 3D was a HT16 I got through the premier order deal and had a slight tilt to the screen so I got telesales to send me another. The new one is an HT17. Now on to the differences I've noticed so far.
HT16(original)
Screen-> darker/slight yellow whites(or more realistic) when compared to the new one.
dmesg showed the following:
"panel: mipi_cmd_novatek_qhd"
"<6>[ 1.797454] mipi_novatek_panel_type_detect: panel_type=PANEL_ID_SHR_SHARP_NT"
HT17(newer just received yesterday)
brighter whites somewhat fake at times i guess you could view it.
power button was very mushy and much tougher to work compared to the HT16 which was very firm and clicky.
dmesg showed:
"<6>[ 1608.757825] Panel Type = PANEL_ID_SHR_SHARP_NT"
Now on to the odd thing. I took pictures with both phones in the exact same location and settings and you can tell when viewing on the phone the one has lil brighter(maybe faker) whites. I thought possibly that it could be just because of the screen and the photo taken would look the same on a PC but they dont. you still see the diff in whites on home PC. Also somehow the photos size were different with the HT17(brighter whites) coming in at 611KB, and the older HT16 file was 776KB.
Now whats even funnier is that when you select the photo in the gallery and view details the HT17(brighter whites) lists it at 478KB and the HT16(original) lists its size at 613KB. This is different fromt he size thats listed when you email it, and even whats listed next to it when you attach it in an email.
anyone explain what I posted up at all?
I'm gonna try mine with the same picture test. How do you find the HT#? I'm sure it's so stupid obvious I'm just overlooking it.....

its on the box your phone came in and also should be under the battery.
As for your issue with the picture file size, that just sounds odd. Were both phones the same software version?
the yellowing could possibly be glue that hasnt dried all the way yet. it happens if they are moving units real fast. if this is the problem it should dry out in a few days and your whites will be white again. could be a defect too. if anyone else has this problem try giving it a few days and see if it goes away.

I've had 3 Evos...2 with the yellowish tint, and one without. I honestly don't think most people notice since it seems other colors are fine and sharpness is still good. It's only apparent usually when you go to a app or webpage with an allwhite background and even more apparent when you compare it to another phone with a nonyellow tint(which I did).
i just got a replacement yesterday and the screen has a yellow tint. i dont know if i should keep it or return it.
I'm using a HT17 and the screen is very yellow. If I max out the brightness it gets washed out and the blacks goes almost grey. Next to my Desire Z the screen doesn't even come close to representing the correct colors. I notice this especially in the search page and a blank internet page.
My Sensations had totally different screen as well. The first was nice and white and the second was yellowish... I'm so frustrated...
I noticed that side by side, the evo has cooler colors (blue tint) and I've noticed that the 3d has warmer colors (red tint). May just be the nature of the screen

Evo 3D Replacement or Refund?

Hey! I posted this in the Evo 3D general section instead of Q&A so people know about the problems I've been having.
When I got my first Evo 3D, I was pretty happy with it until a day later when I noticed there were 2 dead pixels and a piece of dust under the screen. I thought that was the only Evo 3D with problems and I was unlucky. I just went back to the bestbuy I got it from and they replaced it with another Evo 3D.
My replacement was working perfectly until 2 days later when I noticed the screen was tilted a bit to right. (Instead of | |, the screen was more like / /) It was tilted a small, but noticeable amount. It would especially be noticable when watching a movie or looking at a picture when the phone is sideways.
After reading up on all the problems people were having with this phone, I decided that if I replaced it a 3rd time then it would have some other problem and I'd need it replaced again. I don't think the people at bestbuy will be too happy if I keep getting replacements and I am thinking I should just get it refunded and by a galaxy S 2.
What are your thoughts? Should I get a refund are get it replaced?
If you like the 3d exchange it til you get the right one. Inspect it thoroughly before you leave the store. I had to exchange my first one but so far my 2nd one is perfectly fine. The s2 is nice too no doubt but go with what you really want in the end exchanges or not

[Q] evo3d vs rezound screen in sunlight (has anyone compared the two?)

Can anyone comment on first hand usage how th EVO3d screen compares to the reszound in bright light ?
[I've seen the evo3d but have not been able to look at the rezound outside.]
I can't compare the 2 being that I don't have an 3vo, but, this phone is bright as **** outside, even dimmed.
dood ive had the EVO 3D since launch and I just noticed yesterday that your can most definately see the screen in straight up sunlight with the Rezound...with the EVO 3D you cant see **** in sunlight. I was amazed on how well I could see in direct sunlight with the Rezound...was loving it LOL
I came from the droid Inc. You could not see the screen in sun light. The Rizound you can see perfectly in sunlight!

THanks. I've seen the evo-3d in indirect light and it was completely blank
The problem is right now is winter so the light is not nearly as bright as summer and I spend a ton of time outside (also having problem finding a sales dood who will go outside with the phone). I've been debating for the past two weeks between rezound and razr; I really like the sense browser...

This thing is great in sunlight man. I am sure at least 1 rep in your store has the phone itself, ask them to take it outside.
I made a bloody appointment to do just that; even left work a bit early. When I got to the store the jerk bailed on me (he was the only one with the phone).

Screen survey :)

I know I've seen a topic on this matter before, but I'm going to do this anyway.
I've got a red HTC EVO 3D GSM (for US/Asia market), and two friends of mine bought their EVO 3Ds from a store here (Romania, Europe, that is). So mine is red, for US/Asia, and theirs is golden, for EU market.
If I put my 3VO right next to the two others, with screen brightness set on maximum, displaying a full-white image, the screen of MY 3VO is definetly yellow-ish. It's not much - I mean, it's only noticeable when in contrast (put next to another 3VO or a Desire S or such). If there's no other phone display nearby for me to see, my EVO 3D's display rocks but as soon as I see another one... I freak out...
Is there anyone else having a phone with this issue? My phone is from the first batch ever, I believe, since in the Hboot it says July 2011, and on the two 3VO's of my friends, it says October (so theirs are definetly newer)...
If there is anyone else having a phone with a yellow-ish screen, please tell me what date is shown in your Hboot, and if your phone is red or golden colored on the back cover.
-----------------------------------------------------
I've seen discussions on this before, but that was on the fact that the 3VO screen is VERY YELLOW. I don't realise mine is yellow-ish, unless I put it next to another 3VO, for example, as I said.
Even though the EVO 3D and the Desire S (what my girlfriend has) have a S-LCD screen, if I set both screens on maximum brightness, mine is definetly brighter. When I boot phones up... you know the HTC bootlogo... It's obviously YELLOW on my phone, and WHITE (well, more to the blue, if you ask me - but that could be just my brain, tricking me) on the Desire S...
I noticed my EVO I had to send back due to a faulty cell radio was definitely yellow in tint on the screen, as compared to my friends Sensation, however my new replacement is normal, both were GSM UK models with the gold trim around the cameras.

I seen the Sensation in a YouTube video. As opposed to the 3VO, THAT looked yellowish (the Sensation).
Oh well, I am not having other troubles except for the screen (which is an issue as long as I have another 3VO near me to compare it to)... The earpiece is a bit buzzy-ing, but other than that... Perfect..
Besides, I ain't got no warranty XD
In the end, it's not much of an issue (the display). If I think of it more, I guess I'd rather have it like this, not blue-ish...

Yeah... I mean, I wouldn't see my phone's display as BRIGHT YELLOW unless I had another EVO to compare it to... but even sometimes, it LOOKS a BIT yellow. It's not much of a problem, but the "issue" is there, and it's... I don't know... annoying that I don't know why and how many phones it affects?
---------------------
I just got a MOMAX Anti-glare screen protector today, and I regret every bit of it . For some reason, it looks like **it on the EVO, but when I had the Desire HD, I could live with such an unclear screen protector for over a month... Now... it makes me switch to another phone, lol.
Anyway, back to the yellowish tint... Do you have it?

I never had this problem with my Evo 3D screen.
I don't have any problems with the colors of the screen, but since I've bought my phone 3 weeks ago I have this strange black dot in the middle of the screen. It's not inside it, I can see it very well on top of it. I just can't clean it off. Maybe it's some sort of ink??? I tried cleaning it with fingers, fingernails and by gently rubbing it with cotton. Nothing helped.

Just one dot? Like... a pixel?! Cause it could be a dead pixel, but I can't remember exactly whether dead pixels were supposed to appear black or white.
The 3VO of a friend of mine has a few dust particles under the screen, around the edges - around 5 particles or so. I'm just glad mine doesn't -.-

the pixel is composed of three color elements (RGB), if the pixel is dead none of the three elements is turned on and then is black. If the pixel is white, it means that the three color elements are lit with the same intensity, so you can not define dead but stuck on white

Dead and white pixels are hardware problems.
A dead pixel can not (usually) be fixed, white pixels can sometimes be fixed.

Tried it, definitely gives it a more "cool" feel, like changing the colour temperature on an HDTV.

Adding 5 points to Blue definetly makes my screen look more white. Well, not exactly WHITE, as it shifts it more towards blue, but at least it is less browish when it should be gray and so on...
