[Q] [10.1v Owners] What's in your build.prop? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought my 10.1v at Vodafone Netherlands. (HC 3.0.1 HRI83.BUKD9)
There is no option for me to choose my own language.
I recently read about the build.prop in a recent thread and I decided to check mine out.
It says:
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=US
region=US !!
I have no understanding of this Android stuff whatsoever but could I have a problem updating to 3.1 + Touchwiz.
Could you post what your build.prop is saying and what country your in?
TIA
ps Not sure if this is true but I read about people who bought their 10.1v in Germany, that they could select Dutch as language.

Same here.
I've got the SGT 10.1v, in the Netherlands, without dutch language support.
build.prop states:
ro.product.local.language=en
ro.product.local.reagion=us
ROM version is: HRI83.BUKD9

XT9 Predictive Text Fail with Villain Rom

Hi all,
Just updated my stock phone to the new Villain Rom 2.3. All working nicely so far apart from I have no working predictive text. How can I enable this please?
Thank you.
Settings > Language & Keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > XT9
It is turned on but it does not work.
Probably because your language is not installed?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
i'm having the same problem
have enabled XT9
have selected my language as English (Australia)
and i have reflashed and re-installed the rom a 2nd time now
as prodygee says, the selected language probably is not installed.
Change the system language to other (system language not keyboard supported language)
I have the same issue with XXKG2, it was set to Spanish (United States) and predictive text didn't work, then I changed to Spanish (Spain) and the XT9 works!
is system language
settings > language and keyboard > select language ?
Try flashing the appropriate CSC for your region, read in another thread that it may help.

Ok, so as I understand it, I need to install a CSC file in order to restore working predictive text.
I have Villain Rom 2.3.0 installed.
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: I8199XXKG3
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG1-CL349526
I am in the UK on the Vodafone network, however the phone was bought brand new from Samsung with no carrier lock.
Which CSC do I need to use please? Thank you for your help.

[Q] Advice on a Chinese SG2

So I'm living in China, my service provider is China Mobile.
PDA I9100 ZCKG4
PHONE I9100 ZCKG4
CSC I9100 OZHKG4
Kies says it wants to update me to KH1, but it's being flaky. Can't get it to work.
Anyways, I want to use CF-Root, but that thread says, "KG1/2/3/5/6/7", specifically missing KG4.
I can't find a copy of stock firmware anywhere in case I need to revert; the closest I can get is, "I9100ZNKG5 CSC = OZHKG5", from samfirmware.com, but that has PDA and PHONE country code ZN.
I also found a frankenstein firmware for hongkong and taiwan, CSC OZSKG2.
So my question is, if I use CF-root from a different region, what will happen? I want to lose some bloatware, but retain Chinese language and of course still work for calls and messages and data.
Pardon my Newbie-ness.
Hi, I am looking for similar answers. I Have updated from ZCKG4 to ZNKG5 (after bricking my phone). But I would like to get a EU firmware with working app-store, this seems not possible by just firmware update with Odin. Will rooting help?
i have the stock firmware..zckg4.. got it from a chinese website which my girlfriend helped me find..ill post the links wait..the site is chinese though but i have restored with it and works like a charm
Hi, I'm sorry to hi-jack this thread, but as I'm still new to these forums, I cannot post new threads. My concern is a bit related, in that I bought my SGS2 in China.
So, here's my deal: I am in China, and I recently bought an SGS2 from the gray markets (brand new from what I could tell). When I reset the phone, it came back on in German, so I thought that it's a real gray import phone. However, the phone still has some Chinese applications that I cannot uninstall (e.g., QQ). On Settings > Applications > Manage applications, I find that those Chinese apps are "default", and there is no uninstall option. I think they are "system applications".
Android Market works, and so do GMail, Maps, and Skype (apps that do not work on Chinese Android phones). Samsung Apps turn up in Chinese, and most, if not all, of the apps in there are Chinese, too. The SIMcard toolkit (or something like that) is also in Chinese.
These make me worry that my SGS2 might be a Chinese one that has been hacked into to make it work with a western, more standard ROM and firmware. I'm worried about this because there are some issues with a Chinese phone and making it work in the US or in Europe, and I'm moving to Europe next year. Besides, that would mean that the phone isn't brand new, won't it?
So my question is, how can I find out the original make of my SGS2, if it's Chinese or something else? BTW, there's the yellow triangle that people who've rooted their phones see when turning on the phone on my SGS2, too.
Details of my SGS2:
PDA: I9100XWKDF
Phone: I9100XXKDJ
CSC: I9100OXXKDD
Build info: Fri Apr 29 08:31:21 KST 2011
Build number: QUENS.CHS.GINGERBRED.XWKDF
Kernel version: [email protected] #2 (Does this mean my phone is rooted? I never did.)
From what I can tell, the phone version is not Chinese, but I'm not sure if that code changes too when you root and flash a different firmware and ROM.
I searched the thread on ROMs, but I cannot find the exact match for my phone.
What can you tell me about my phone from this information? If you need more, I can surely add the details necessary.
I hope that some knowledgeable and kind-hearted people here can answer my queries and help clarify things.
I will be forever grateful. Thank you very much in advance!

if you have a superuser app in your app drawer then you are rooted..and most probably you are because you get that exclamation sign on boot up which means you have a unsecure kernel which is used to root.. anyways it most probably is a smuggled phone which was later flashed to meet the chinese people requirments and dont worry i guess it will work in europe

[Q] Some firmware Questions...

Hi everyone, I just bought a Samsung Galaxy SII here in China (its a imported phone, NOT chinese seems to be from France originally). It came with ZSKE7 firmware installed (unbranded) and have Korean, Chinese simp & Trad, British & american english and Hongkong input.
I tried to upgrade the firmware using KIES, but it just said "no available updates", so I started to fiddle around with the CSC (customer sales code) and I changed it to BRI (Britain) from KOR (Korean). And voila!! Kies said it had a firmware update available.
So I upgraded the firmware and ended up with ZSKG2 (still 2.3.3) and I cant say I noticed any big changes after the update.
My question now is, does anybody know if there is a Generic firmware available, with ALL languages (for example Swedish, Finnish & German) and that also have all the support for the ZSKG2 languages (Chinese simp/trad)?
Best regards
Bumbi
Nope, there is no Official Stock ROM with all languages.
However, if you are interested in English + Chinese and have all the apps that China have Samsung removed, you can look at Hong Kong rom.
Thanks LiFE1688, I will give it a try , at the moment am I busy "cooking" my own version. Will see how it goes.
