Yellow triangle w/ Exclamation - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know why I get this image? I started seeing it when I try to return to stock after flashing KFC. It goes anyway when I have stock or SellswordShev Deodex of KFC, now its back on the new Bonsai based on KFC?!
Any idea how I got this and how to make it go away?

Wish that thread had what the warning sign was or I could have found it! Thanks, I'll see if a fix happens in the future.

Fix the issue by going back to stock and doing the OTA for KG4. Problem gone!!

So what does the symbol mean?

[Q] Home Made Gadget to Remove "!" Logo when Booting- S2

Hey guys,
Anyone of u knows how to remove the exclamation mark on the screen after booting (galaxy s2). I rooted my phone and flashed the rom. Each and everytime i boot my phone, the logo comes out. I need a very simple but home made solution to solve this problem. Its annoying to see that logo. I read somewhere about this but i couldn't find it anymore and what is the technical word for the device to get rid of this logo. Please enlighten me guys. Thanks.
You are thinking of a usb jig to remove that and reset the counter.
You can also remove it using without any devices by following the instructions in the cf-root thread, but that leaves the counter untouched.
Or if you are on a ICS based rom you can get rid of both with the Triangle away app with the click of a button.
you need a usb jig (hardware service mode starter)
if it doesn't work, you need to flash older firmware with odin
and then use the jig again. finally flash the prefered rom with cwm
EDIT
didn't see shadowofdarkness had already answer
Thanks

Hey thanks man. well... i just started this rooting **** actually 2 weeks ago. I bought my galaxy s2 for about 9 months.... and it was really annoying because it takes ages for samsung kies to released an new official update. Can u believe i was still using gingerbread 2.3.3 before this. Man.. i got even more fed up when i saw my brother's new phone galaxy nexus which uses ICS 4.0 Rom. So i said to myself... thats it. i am going to root this stupid S2. hahaha.
Then i started to root and change to 2.3.6 which is great but still the same interface as 2.3.3. Just performance wise better. I need a new nice interface like the ICS 4.0. so i flashed my rom with wanamlite 8.9 which is a damn good rom. i love it. u guys should try his rom. If u guys know a even better rom, let me know. Thanks

[Q] Check For Update issue after root

hello all,
i have followed entropy512's thread here to get my at&t samsung galaxy s2 rooted with stock settings...i then wanted clockworkmod recovery so i went to this and followed directions to get everything installed...everything was ok and working until a few weeks ago when the 'Check Update' option under Setting stopped working...
basically what happens is when i goto Settings-> Software Update->Check for updates->Hit OK (Check the AT&T server for new software update?) a dialog comes up that says 'Checking for software updates...' and nothing happens...i have left the phone over night with device management app checking for software updates... when this used to work, it took less than 1 minute to check...
finally, the only way for me to stop this is to go and force stop Device Manager under Applications->All, so before i restore the phone to factory, i was wondering if anyone knows what might be the issue here?
Thanks,
FI

umm this option was working until a few weeks ago and it randomly stopped so im not sure what rooting has to do with it...furthermore, i did search using various permutations of words around the issue at hand, and i did not find threads that addressed this issue...

Being rooted you shouldn't even worry about updates, if you had actually searched you would have seen that

OTA updates require factory recovery. I'm a bit hazy on the details but I believe CWM, in short, replaces that.
It might also be because you either turned off/uninstalled or inadvertently removed factory bloatware.

This. Amongst other things. If u insist on trying to eventually upgrade to whatever crap gets pushed out to us yer best bet is to do a full wipe to completely stock firmware.

once again, the issue is not weather i should worry about updates or not nor did i search for if i should worry about updates...this option was working and something happened that caused it to stop working...and my searches i did was around getting device management to connect to the dm server (which is where the 'Checking for update' got stuck)

both of you seem to be spot on...i didnt realize that removing bloatware which was marked as 'ok to remove' on the document of things to remove safely could have been the issue...initially i had frozen them using titanium...neway i restored the phone using the CWM backup i had and the option started working like expected...thanks for the input
I'm curious...why do you want that option to work?

Do you recall all the issues with UCKK6 Gingerbread? That was an AT&T release. The devs had to tear it apart to debug and try to fix it. Any build will have bugs in it. But generally, custom firmwares will have fewer bugs than AT&T firmware.

unfortunately, i joined the android bandwagon only when i got my samsung galaxy s2, which was a little late in the game, so i have no clue on all the start up issues that people experienced with Gingerbread release...
for now ill need to stick with stock/At&T firmware however ill make the switch to custom firmwares when i stop being lazy and create a USB jig for myself...

if my research that i conducted a while ago is right, then basically samsung has implemented a flash counter which increments each time you flash a custom, non-stock rom...it might also be applied to non-stock kernels/firmwares as well (im not too sure)...so to prevent the flash counter from ever incrementing, ill need to put the phone in download mode using the jig and continue from there...

This is wrong. It is only incremented when you use ODIN to flash nonstock items. CWM has no bearing on flash counters.

You have some bad information...but I have some good news for you.
The flash counter only counts the number of times you've flashed a custom kernel in download mode via Odin. Using CWM to flash anything can't touch the flash counter. Same goes for Mobile Odin. I've been rooted and flashing for months, I don't have a jig, and my counter is still at zero.

Any GB issues only surfaced if you updated to 2.3.6. 2.3.4 for a "stock" firmware was pretty awesome. I'm on the latest ICS leak from ATT (LD4) and aside from the emmc bug (I'm using a safe kernel so I don't have it) IMHO its more complete then CM9 was. I stopped using CM9 at the end of May and don't miss it at all now.

I reccomend roms that use i9100 bases as they are usually better, roms like phonebricker, and shostock2 are good, my favorite touchwiz based rom though is serendipity 9. But thats my experiences so try them for yourself (i use aokp as my daily though.)

[Q] 2.3.5 Stock and Bootloader?

Hello,
I am looking on how to go back to complete stock 2.3.5? Also I have another question? To my understanding the bootloader is locked with 2.3.5 and there is no way to unlock it at the moment? Thanks in advance!

Yes that seems to be the stock system image, just make sure you have the corresponding version of ROM, check those numbers at your phone info, it should be SUN-254_13. And yes, if you won't be able to boot you can make full restore using RSD Light - check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798145
Yesterday after flashing some 2.3.5 with bootstrap recovery my phone stoped booting, and after following those instructions it's working again:good:
p.s. how does one say "thank you" for useful post?

because you dont have a custom rom so your phone feels neglected and unloved.
So I take it you're complete stock unrooted?
If so, which build are you on?

[Resolved] Replaced Screen - Backlight is on but no display

Replaced the screen yesterday and don't think I've done any other HW damage but on powering back on the phone makes all the right noises but doesn't display anything.

Is it possible it's a faulty screen?
Have you flashed a rom?
You have to flash new rom marked as "dx_2" or "dx_1" if I recall corectly. Search in elephone forum, rom section.
There are 2 SKUs for screens, they need proper rom.
No, I haven't flashed this phone since I bought it. Will I be able to reflash without being able to see the screen.

From official elephone forum, this rom supposed to be "dx_2" http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-10832-1-3.html.
If you already flashed newer rom, then you should flash this one with "Firmware Upgrade" option.
Good luck.
