Were any of you able to get the update? If so, how did you proceed?

Last OTA from Bell was a month behind the At&T one IIRC. So maybe in a few weeks at best?

Hi guys, I was wondering if there is a 4G fix for an unlocked bootloader for the Photon?

Nope. And there probably won't be unless moto makes the photon unlockable with their new utility.

I believe I read that relocking the bootloaded on a stock rom fixes 4g... Haven't done it myself since my area doesn't have nor will ever receive WiMax based 4g service. You do this throud RSD Lite, the files you need are available from Lokifish Marz, you can find his stuff in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611911
As far as I know you are right. You can unlock, flash a rom with a stock kernel, and re-lock to retain 4g.

Is there ever going to be an ICS update for this device? Or even a custom recovery or rom?
How can I check if the OTA was already accepted when I just got the phone?

Settings. About Phone. If your broadband version ends with vrall4 you have the update.
Baseband?
