Hi!
That's a funny thing with my p500 - it's showing me that I'm on headset even when the headset isn't plugged in. As a result I can't use my phone's speaker.
My ROM is mik-os' CM7 and I noticed my issue after changing some options in DSPManager and now I can't say for sure if this is a hardware or software problem.
Phone shows headset mode
Hi
as i think that its not your issue of ur rom, its usually occurs when the headset detection switch stucks ON which is present in 3.5mm female jack. try your headset plugged in n out twice or thrice its solves. or it remains same then apply a little bit alcohol over the male jack(as its seems to be slightly wet not more) and then plugged in and rotate it in clock wise and anti clockwise direction, then its working ok.

Hi ,
I recently upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S3 ( UK ) , and for the first time today have connected it to the auxiliary input in my car stereo.
Before this phone I had the Galaxy S1 and all worked fine with no problem.
There are a few concerns I`d like the answer to and hoping that someone here can shed some light on it.
First of all, the battery on the phone was low when I left home, so I plugged the phone into the car charger ( one that accepts a USB cable, and was charging through that ). My first dissapointment was that I STILL got interference from the charger when playing audio , i had hoped this may have gone away since I was charging via a USB cable, but I still get a hiss in the background that is more apparent during quiet moments of songs - this is not such a major issue as I was used to it with the S1. Still, if anyone knows how to prevent this I would be grateful.
Anyways, the noise was becoming irritating so once the phone had ample charge to see me into work I disconnected the charger.
When I did this, the audio level dropped noticably and seemed to become more `tinny`. Why would disconnecting the charger cause this to happen?
Also, some tracks seemed to almost totally lose vocals , for example when Foo Fighters `The One` started playing it almost sounded like an instrumental. When I plugged the charger back in the audio level increased but still sounded odd.
When I got into work I plugged my PC speakers into the phone and it sounded fine through that. This would indicate the problem lies in the car somewhere, however I never had this problem with the S1.
When I plug the 3.5mm cable in , the phone detects `headphones` rather than auxiliary, I am sure the S1 used to notice accurately if the device attached was headphones or auxiliary. However, anything plugged into the S3 shows as headphones.
I am using the Android Poweramp app, which i absolutely love, so I would rather not change that as a solution - but I will try a different player later for diagnostic purposes.
Short version of this post -
1) How can I get the phone to detect auxiliary is attached and NOT headphones - I`m sure this affects the output level.
2) Why does the volume level change when the charger is disconnected?
3) Why would the audio sound like the vocals have been muted in the car when its fine on headphones and PC speakers?
4) Is there a way to get rid of the annoying interference hiss when charging whilst playing?
If anyone can help with this I would be most grateful
Many thanks
Ade
Guess I should have done a little more fiddling before posting!
The problem was a faulty audio cable , it just threw me how the volume levels changed when the phone was been charged. I still find that odd.
Anyway, sound quality and volume levels are fine now. I also learnt that you can disable the headphone notification along with the app suggestions in the notification window. This was in Accessory in the phones system settings , just uncheck the Audio Applications box under Earphones. I expect everyone here knew that already though!
The only issue I have left is the interference noise from playing audio while charging, I suspect I may need a more shielded charger or cable?
hi guys, basicallynim wondering if anybody else is experiencing the issues that i am.
Essentially im ecstatically happy with my z2, except the headphone port seems faulty. While driving i use the 3.5mm jack on the z2 to connect tk the car.
This is when i noticed the faults with the headphone port. If i insert a 3 or 4 pid connector, either a 3.5-3.5 cable, a standard 3pin headphone connector, or a 4 pin headset, a slight nudge on the connector disconnects the headphones/cable and music stops. Sometimes, google now gets triggered as well. The same things happen if i twist the jack, whatever is connected. It also seems quite loose, and there is no positive click when a jack is inserted.
I would upload a video showing what happens, but my only video camera is in my z2.........
It has also not been submerged/wet at all, and is kept in a case (i tested the jack without the case as well, but it still happens)
In my brand new Z2 I also don't hear that click when inserting headphones but they are in the deep all the way. I tested 4 different earphones and speakers but none gave me any problems(I was twisting jack and trying to move it but connection was too tight), no loss of sound. I think you should get your Z2 serviced or replaced. Also I have a question. When you plug in normal headphones or speakers(not the noise cancelling ones), do you get a notification saying that you connected them or not? I only get something like this when Smart Connect is enabled...
I have issues with jack too. When you pulg in headphones, it sometimes wont recognize that something was plugged in, but if you try to twist the jack in the phone, it may get working (the sound is clear, no loss). The problem is when you put the phone in a pocket and walk, the jack is moving there so it is very likely to stop working and u have to twist it again.
When I bought the phone, I had no problems with it, but after first water test (which resulted fine, there was no water inside), the problem started.
Got the phone for 2 months and the issue still persists.
My solution is plugging in, search for the right spot before it starts worrking and walk with phone in a hand, holding the cable so it wont move in the jack.
i got it replaced in the end, had the new one for 2 weeks with no issues, so definitely a hardware fault.
Headphone jack not working after submerging in the water
Hi,
I submerged my xperia z2 last night in the swimming pool. It's been 12 hours since I submerged my phone. Every thing is running perfectly except for my headphone jack. The first time I used my earphone there's small amount of water coming out from the hole. The headphones is not working because it's not fully dried from water? I tried cleaning it up and blowing some air for some particles to get dry but it still not working.
I need help please because my phone is not insured because I bought it online
What should I do?!
I got my z2 last Tuesday and my headphones (Logitech UE 350) were working perfectly until I tried using them today. For some reason they aren't being recognized anymore and the music just keeps playing through the phones speakers.
I tried plugging them into my old iphone and they work fine. I also tried plugging in another pair (Shure SE215) into both phones and they work fine. Except on the z2 it makes a clicking sound whenever I change songs now.
Does anybody know any way to fix this? Or could it be a faulty headphone jack?
Could be a number of things mate. Firstly, check and see the headphones are not physically damaged and even make sure that the microhpones in the in-ear pieces aren't affected by water exposure. Next check the headphones out by moving the wire around while they're plugged in and see how the sound comes out and if the phone reacts to any movements. When I used my phone in water even after hours of drying the headphone jack still wasn't dry so even the slightest movement switched tracks etc. Alternatively, it could be a headphone jack fault in the sense that it may be shorting? Or the 3.5mm 5pin connector on the headphones itself is damaged. It could also simply be a software glitch. Go into "Sounds" in your settings and change what kind of accessory it detects the headphones as. Try "Other", it may solve your problems. Alternatively take it into a Sony store or a phone shop and see if there's anywhere with a similar headset which you could test out.
I've been using my Xperia Z5 for roughly 2 years without problems, but lately I've experienced a rather annoying issue regarding headphone use and the microphone (the one built into the phone, NOT one attached to a headphone):
After using the headphones to for example listen to music, the microphone will stop working, unless the headphones are plugged in. This is regardless of app (I've tested: sound recorder app, Google Assistant and phone call). It doesn't seem to be because the phone thinks the headphones are connected because: (I) it uses the built in microphone when the headphones are connected, (II) the speakers function as normal without headphones.
The only way to fix this, seems to be a reboot. After that the microphone works until headphones are used again.
Sony support suggested resetting the phone, however this didn't help. I've also tried searching both Google and XDA, but haven't found anyone else with the same problem.
The only thing that's changed since the issue started appearing, is that I janked on the connector on my headphone cable, which meant it got a bit loose. This in turn means it can disconnect if the connector or cable is moved in a certain way (though I haven't yet been able to figure out the exact movement or if it's the connector or the cable). I've already ordered a replacement cable.
I think the problem may be related to this disconnect that happens when the headphones are still plugged in. However, after this occurs, it doesn't matter what headphone/set is used, and plugging in a headphone WITH a microphone will function without issues (though disconnecting will still make the built in mic stop working).
I have a problem with my package included headphone or my phone or both I don't know.
I wonder anyone got this weird bug or hardware problem.
This is the problem step by step:
I plug usb type c package included headphone.
I see small headphone icon upper side of the screen.
I open a music app -for example youtube-
I play anything video is shown and auto playing stops the video or music. Phone acts like headphone unplugged but its plugged anyway.
Small headphone icon doesnt show anymore but its plugged to usb port.
I touch the play button again and music comes out from phone's speakers.
I unplug and plug headphone again to usb port and music comes from headphone and little icons shows up on screen.
So this is the problem that I have. I need to talk about some experiment notes I have had.
I have never had this bug or problem with usb type c to 3.5 mm headphone jack converter. And also having same problem with making some calls or any kind of sound output situations with type c headphone. And the interesting part is I tried to record a screen video about this problem guess what... No bugs or problems when recording but its again shows up when I stopped the recording video.
Tell me something about this bug or problem. Anyone have this problem with phone. Thanks a lot already for your comments and suggestions and answers
I bought my Mate 20 mid April and I faced exactly the same issue with headphone. No matter I use the original one USB-C or USB-C to jack. I did not find any solution and returned the phone back to the vendor.

Hi!
I have the same identical issue. I bought a mate 20 pro and originale headphone works only if, after music starts, I unplugg and then I plug headphone usb c.
Have you find a solution?
Hi I too have the exact same problem. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I've had similar problems with my headphones, maybe not exactly. But hey, give it a try. Definitely worked for me. I say headphones because I had the issue with both the packaged headset as the Huawei ANC ones I bought later. Problem was an accumulation of rubble in the USB-C socket of the phone. And it got worse over time. Took a very thin item and gently cleaned the socket. Cleared all issues instantly. Substantial filth in the port. To check for rubble in the portt take a magnifying glass and enough light to check. Hope it helps. I thought after it got really worse and the cable would not even stay in the socket, I had to send phone to Huawei for repair but as a last resort I cleaned the USB-C port and now no more issues. Do be careful though.
I've not even taken those out of the wrapper since getting my m20p in December. Using Bluetooth without any issues on assorted headsets.

Same problem here, but only with the earbuds that came with the phone. If I use the adapter (which also came with the phone) with my old headphone, there are no problems at all.
no one has solved the problem of the original earphones that are not heard on the phone? I brought the phone for assistance with this problem and they replaced my motherboard. today I picked up the phone and the problem is still there. ridiculous. for you the problem is only with the original earphones or even with others of the type c?
up up please
The problem stopped occurring as soon as I updated my phone to 9.1.
