Has anyone found an effective (call) booster in market? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have difficulty with call sound quality (yeah, I'm old, and what of it?! ).
Anyone found any remedies for this.

If its low then try inputting *#197328640# in keypad and increase the earphone volume. But if you restart the device settings will get reset. Afaik there its no permanent solution yet.

Have you tried the apps available in the Market? A quick search turned up this one, which looks quite promising...

OP asked about Call volume, not music and other stuffs, and that app has nothing to do with Call volume!

You don't have to do anything when you get there.... Just turn up volume on the set?

I was under the impression that that application handled all output types from the phone.

You have to press 5 for Audio settings, then you will have lot of options to adjust, you have to increase the volume dB under Handset/Headset settings. But do remember, don't input max value, like 100 dB, it could permanently damage your earspeaker. 1, 2 dB increase is enough IMO.
Regards.

I had the same thought, used it but there is no option to make it work for Voice calls, any calls.

[Q] UnNamed ROM issue

I apologize for starting a thread, but I don't have enough posts to reply in the developers forum.
I'm using UnNamed 2.1.1
my notification sound appears to be stuck on "whistle" despite what I set it to.
I set my notification ringtone to "Aldebaran" and "Antares" but no dice.
Restarting the phone didn't help.
I haven't heard the phone ringtone yet so I can't speak to that.
Anyone know a work around for this?

Could be a bad flash or you could boot into recovery and fix permissions or wipe cache. Just some suggestions but I am no expert. Also I noticed that if you want to change the sms ringtone, you have to do from the settings menu inside of the messaging app and not the actual sound settings menu.

Ugh, no idea how much of a jerk I feel like right now.
I could have sworn you set it through the sounds menu.
I guess this is why they don't let people with low post numbers reply in the developer's forums >_<

It is confusing! I don't know why they do it this way!?! One would logically think when you are setting the "notification" ringtone; it is for text messages!
So don't feel bad.
No worries dude I was mortified they used a ringtone that terrible and kind of hid the settings.

Volume+ and MusicFX

Hello. first up im new here but as i have been waiting 3 days for my activation email i have been reading a lot on this forum. but there is one thing i cant seem to find an answer for.
basically like everyone else i have the low audio jack output problem. i dont have a rooted phone and all this talk of pushing files to adjust some core settings really means nothing to me (this is my first Android phone). really couldnt work out if the phone had to be rooted or not.
as i was looking for a solution i came across Volume+ (i believe the inventor is on here and might have found the hard code fix everyone else is using) bought it and gave it a try and can confirm its definitely louder. BUT when i went to Setting -> Sounds, a new option appeared called "sound Effects" or "Music Effects" which gives me option to select between the new Volume+ and MusicFX. literally as i got here pop up screen "MusicFX has crashed" etc etc
is this normal??
what is musicFX? is it actually needed?
do i have to be rooted to do this Hard Code option that most people are using?
any help is greatly appreciated.
cheers

Music FX is the incorporated Samsung sound thing .
Will Vol + and Music FX crash yes in my experience .
Few are using hard code few are using DSP manager and yes you need root .
I can give no advice on sound level as i don't have that problem playing MP3 at level 4 normally .

In call volume too loud

Hey I don't know if this is a rom/firmware issue or just an issue with the phone itself. I looked around on the internet, but wasn't able to find anything. I can't even hold the phone to my face (hurts my ears) when it is on the lowest volume, and everybody can hear my conversations haha.
also side note I tried to install the back button menu hack and it removed all the the numbers on my pin lock screen. At first it was annoying, but now I kind of like it. Sadly the numbers came back. I know this isn't the right thread, but wasn't sure if somebody might know how to how to get my blank lock screen back. It was super secure and people thought I was some crazy tech master.

Camera shutter sound??

Is turning the phone on vibrate or silent the only way to silence the sound?
Yes
? I figured it would have a setting in camera for shutter sound on /off? Odd

If you got your phone from south korea, there's no setting to turn it off. It's a law here, every phone that's sold in Korea has to have shutter sound. This is to prevent perverts to take upskirt photos of women

What happens during video, it emits a constant buzzing sound?
For the video, there's that regular video recording start sound, nothing else

I fail to see how privacy would play into this. Anyone that wants to take a picture silently can still do so by disabling their sound. Purposefully not including a separate option to disable shutter sound solely serves to make things more difficult, not protect anybody.
You could just load Open Camera from F-Droid and get not only the ability to turn off the noise, but a lot of other settings as well.

How do you disable sound ? you mean silent mode
Won't work
But that mutecamera (no spaces between the two words there) by SangGwon.Park app does. On my v20 which amazed me. Had given up on the G4 because root was not possible.
Free for only 15 pics though. If you watch some ads you get 15 more free, write a review, another 15. Don't know whether paying gets rid of ads. Can anyone confirm ?
It gets accessibility so whether its a security risk is for you to determine.
I downloaded a (paid app) called "SilentMode". It can actually mute any app, not just the (stock) camera, but it works well. Pixel Camera has the option but if you want the stock one for all it's features, this is a good option.

Yes, that's the one.
Actually, it's pretty cool, because what it does is mute an app's oral notifications without touching any other apps or the system. I use another app called Kijiji, it's a local classifieds - it defaults to the system notifications so if sounds are on, you get a sound notification. Well, I just want a visual notification for Kijiji...so this app can help.
Reduce the phone volume
You can reduce the volume of mute the phone and it works. So simple I didn't think about it at first. Tested in an European LG V30

Low volume on notifications

Hello everyone,my Mi 10 has very low volume on notifications (calls, notifications, alarms) although I've set it to max..Its too low sometimes i miss calls or messages..anyone else with the same problems?or any solution?
Try a louder ring tone? Have you cleaned the speakers recently? Could be anything.
I've tried everything, louder ringtone, I've played a video from YouTube for cleaning speakers but it's not the speaker its something from the ui because when i see a video from YouTube or gallery its so loud that i have to lower the volume...its like the system volume its low...
Access developer settings and activate "disable absolute volume control".
I have a niggling feeling that'll be it..

Thank you very much for your help, unfortunately can't find this settings in developer options..maybe they delete it in miui12... :/
The option is there. I have it myself. You need to scroll down a bit.
Nope can't find it... I'll attach a screenshot of my developer options
I don't have that option either. I'm on Global 12.2.1.0 Stable
I concur, it's definitely not there. In older versions it was the first option under the USB section, should have been under Bluetooth as in other phones..
Odd. Very odd. Obviously you've tried setting a known high volume ringtone as a notification and had the same low volume results? The only suggestion I have at the moment is to clear the cache of all apps and reboot.. See if it persists..
Yes...the same sound playing from music app its very loud...when i set it for call/sms/notification its very very low... :/ You suggesting to wipe everything from the boot screen?
If you are on stock rom you can wipe the cache from the security app or via fastboot.
If you are on custom rom you can either download an app to do it or do it via fastboot.
DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING ELSE. ONLY WIPE CACHE.

No im on stock rom,if i wipe the cache I'll loose data from all apps?
Edit:
Sorry for my mistake about loosing data,i cleaned the cache through security app did reboot but nothing...its clearly a bug because its only in system sounds that are low,as i said when playing the ringtone through music app is clearly louder...anyway thanks a lot @shivadow
In all honesty being on a custom rom is probably 99% of the problem. You can always investigate adjusting volume files in root, if at all possible. Some are, some aren't.

Hi try this app, This might work for you.
It will increase ringtone volume to 100% before receiving normal call.
P.S tested on galaxy devices.

Your friend faced the same issue?maybe something goes wrong when you do factory reset because my phone was like yours,i bought it 4 months old and did factory reset...Anyway,the only solution that I've settled is using an app from playstore "volume booster-speaker booster & Sound booster" and ot works for me,if you download the same app every now and then open it and exit because the system stops it..!(for example if you clear the recent apps from the tab)
