I have found a system dump from Droid 3 which includes all their wallpapers, sounds and also boot animation. It's located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164736
drumercalzone09 was nice enough to created a CWM update file of the boot animation with sound. Get it here.

If the Droid 3 is qHD, I'm pretty sure you can manually add the boot animation through Root Explorer.
Just rename it to bootanimation.zip and move it to system/media. It will be in the same location on the dump
As for the sounds, they should be in system/media/audio. You can put them on your internal SD card in media/audio/** where ** is ringtones, notifications, alarms respectfully
For the wallpapers... you could replace the stock Atrix ones under /res/drawable/Launcher.apk, but you'd lose the stock one, and I'm not sure exactly how you'd do it. You could always just make a folder and find them in the gallery.
I'm gonna try out the boot animation and sounds and report back!
EDIT: if you play the deerdeer notification in vlc, there's a little easter egg!
Another follow up: the boot animation works perfectly! Very nice looking too.

Thanks for testing it man. I guess we don't need a dev anymore.
Will be installing this puppy on my Atrix now.
Blue Droid 3 Boot Animation
Hey guys last night I threw together a blue version of this. ENJOY!
You will need to rename the zip to bootanimation.zip and put into your system/media or data/local folder to use!
If you like it or use it please press the "Thanks" Button!
i tried the method above with root explorer but that was a no go for me. instead i used root tools. renamed the file to bootanimation_backup.zip and placed it in the root tools folder. that seemed to work for me but i still get no sound though. i like the blue droid 3 animation and am using that one. thanks!
The boot animation looks sweet. I'll see what other goodies there are too. Thanks, man!

I know you guys have seen this on the Nexus S or DX running 2.3. It's the screen-off animation that looks like an old style TV turning off. This is it on the Nexus, but my brother has in on his DX running 2.3.

Any way I can get this on my 2.2 SF???? I want it bad!
Man I've been wanting that for a while now.
The SteelBlue Midnight theme that Bigloof ported to the fascinate has it in version 1.5. I think you can pull it from the zip using root explorer but don't know which folder to put it in.

the shutdown animation can be placed in /system/media/video
In there is a folder called shutdown with the .png's (named shutdown_1, shutdown_2, and so on - not a zip file like a boot animation) and a shutdown.cfg file.
Since I like that shutdown animation so much, I keep a media folder on my PC. Whenever I swap to a new ROM, I bring my favorite sounds and shutdown and boot animations with me.
That TV off is what I use as well, You can find it linked below, all ready to go.
Just DL the file, unzip it and place the folder in /system/media/

That's for the shutdown animation. I'm talking about when you hit the power button to go into standby mode.
for that I can be of no assistance.
I was actually just looking for a mod for that last night. From what I understand, it's not something you can port to froyo - you need to legitimately running gingerbread to have it.
My understanding is it is baked into the GB kernel

Wellllll crap. I guess we have a little while to wait then. Unless cm7 with 2.3 will be released soon......?
This bootanimation is created by eyesonlybob
just thought I would share the working version on here since I had to do some digging online to find the working non blank version for our respective device
preview:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jdkh5kKJzo
Instructions:
refer to amazinglarry's boot audio enabler here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016208 for sounds
1. use root explorer to copy bootanimation.zip
2. navigate to /system/media on RE, mount rw and paste the bootanimation.zip overwriting the existing one
3* if you have bootanimation sounds enabled using the above audio enabler. paste the android_audio.mp3 again overwriting the existing one
4. reboot, enjoy and hit thanks
Download:

included a matching audio if you have boot animation sounds enabled.

it won't be as appealing if it loops... and looping was giving me issues such as the android just disappearing and a black screen staying on till boot. anyone wanna edit the images and add more animations? Maybe a CRT turn off animation similar to the portal boot animation, and then put a text saying Android or something?

i tried to make it loop as well and couldnt figure it out. as far as i understand the part1 folder is the one that loops. i copied the images from part0 to part1 and renamed them in sequential order and got nothing. maybe one of the pros on here could help us out?

you want the original bootanimation.zip file that is supposed to loop? its f*cked since the black screen keeps coming on instead of a loop :S this is actually a evo boot animation tweaked for our device (evo takes sh!t long to boot)
I can edit the images but IDK how to do a crt animation on photoshop using different images
Will this work on myt4g with S=off and stock everything?
Yep it should
Rooted/OC'd/De-bloated
For the boot animation loop you have to edit the text file that is for screen size frame rate and how many times to play each folder.

Is there any chance that this will work on my rooted HTC Incredible S?? I love this mod
Download link is dead, can you please update it?
Just made a new boot animation from scratch
The ninja from my boot logo comes alive and slices through the apple logo and then flying through the air
I am by no means an artist, but I did put some effort into this, so I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you CaelanT for the CWN zip
excuse the semi-jumpiness of the video, all I had was windows movie maker to put it together, it's MUCH smoother in actuality
To apply logo: unzip and use fastboot commands (more complete instructions here
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot reboot
To apply animation: use root explorer to put the bootanimation.zip in the /system/media folder OR download the zip in the post below by CaelanT and flash it via CWM recovery
To apply optional sounds:
1st: If you already have my boot animation installed, re-download and replace the bootanimation.zip
2nd: unzip the 4 sound files and manually put them in the /system/media folder (which is a pain, I know)
OR
Apply the attached CWM zip (much easier!) it includes the new bootloader.zip and sound fx
To uninstall sounds: just delete the sound files, you don't have to replace the bootanimation.zip it will still work
bootanimation.zip
sounds.zip
NinjaCWM.zip
Here is your CWM version for 2.3.4:
NinjaSlicesAppleCWM.zip
Cheers!
Works pretty good and it does look smoother as the boot animation. Thanks!
would like to see sound version
Very nice and sound would make this bootanimation even better!
What did you use to make it?

Hm, well I sort of see it as a little bit of symbolism: all these awesome little customizations shown crushing Apple when that is one of the big reasons Android does crush Apple..customization!

Always on the ball for getting us the CWM version. Thanks CaelanT!
Also, do you think its possible that you can make the sound last for the whole animation? It seems to just stop and the ninja android is still well flying until it boots up or do something else in the animation so there is no "still action" throughout the whole boot.

Are you sure you're on 2.3.4? try moving the audio files to the same directory as your bootanimation.zip and see if they play
very sure I'm on 2.3.4 ...I'm using Navalynt's CHERRYπ rom

<For Miui> Third Step Change android_audio.mp3 to bootaudio.mp3 <link for Voltron audio> http://www.4shared.com/audio/I3GgVylb/Voltron_Force_2011_Opening__Le.html [Always Rename BootAnimations to bootanimation.zip] [Sense based Roms all bootanimations go to system/customize/resource] All Thanks to despotovski01 for his excellent Bootanimation/Audio Tutorials
Miui> make sure you select Voltron bootanimation in Theme Manager or just delete all downloaded bootanimations and the Voltron one will be your Default.*For audio just change mp3 to bootaudio.mp3, set in system/media and change permissions to rw-r-r-
Another Reserve
For MIUI Roms just another method...
Animation:
Download the boot animation file and rename it bootanimation.zip and place it into the system/media folder. Go to theme manager and under the "boot animation" tab select "default." No need to change permissions.
Sound:
To hear the boot sound you have to convert the file to ogg format then place it into the system/media/audio/ringtones folder. Go to theme manager and choose the file under the "boot audio" tab. You can name it anything you want. No need to change permissions. Ogg converter here.
I went ahead and uploaded the ogg file here for you guys.
@vqt This method worked for me...can you post a tutorial for ogg format, plz and thankyou
cool animation. still a little choppy and the pic is a little distorted but good start so far. hope you can get it perfect
Thanks for the tutorial..yeah the slowness on boot bothers me but I've been reading up on thatand there's nothing I can do on my end its due to caching

i don't know anything about making a boot animation but does it have to do with the frames/second. Usually i unzip a boot animation and look at the png's, it is like a flip cartoon book so i don't know if you need more frames in there to make it more smooth.
Yup its like a flipbook and the more frames taken the bigger the zip...I've been trying to solve this issue. I use powerarchiver to make the zips....but it really doesn't compress them much I think this animation alone was 235 still frames here's the tutorial I used incase anyone wants to learn http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096068

AS ALWAYS...
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AS A RESULT OF USING THIS CONTENT, JUST AS IT IS NO ONE ELSES FAULT FOR ANY DAMAGE I MIGHT DO TO MINE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RISKS INVOLVED, YA MIGHT JUST BE BETTER OFF STICKING WITH STOCK. It's not that complicated, just do a little research. Plenty of knowledge floating around XDA...
Simple enough:
1:: download the .zip
2:: rename it (using ES File Explorer or Astro or any ROOT EXPLORER that will allow you to MOUNT SYSTEM AS WRITABLE) by simply cutting out the description so that it is just bootanimation.zip
3:: copy or cut the bootanimation.zip and paste it in either /system/media or /data/local folder
4:: you will be warned that the merge will overwrite the existing file and that the world will end (not really, just accept the merge)
REBOOT

you can install new boot animations in /data/local, they will run in place of the system, default. this will allow you to use new boot animations but still have your original in case you want it back. (some things like the UOT kitchen will install boot animations here by default)
