[BOOT] Eclipse CARBON Boot Animation (12.02.11) - Motorola Droid X2

Eclipse CARBON Boot Animation
Made this for the Bionic, but as luck would have it, it works for X2 as well. Inspired by lifebeginsfriday's new Carbon Red Bliss theme for Eclipse on Bionic, which can be found over at RootzWiki
Thanks goes to nitroglycerin33 for the sweet ROM and the custom font, and lifebeginsfriday for the theme idea.

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AS A RESULT OF USING THIS CONTENT, JUST AS IT IS NO ONE ELSES FAULT FOR ANY DAMAGE I MIGHT DO TO MINE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RISKS INVOLVED, YA MIGHT JUST BE BETTER OFF STICKING WITH STOCK. It's not that complicated, just do a little research. Plenty of knowledge floating around XDA...
Simple enough:
1:: download the .zip
2:: rename it (using ES File Explorer or Astro or any ROOT EXPLORER that will allow you to MOUNT SYSTEM AS WRITABLE) by simply cutting out the description so that it is just bootanimation.zip
3:: copy or cut the bootanimation.zip and paste it in either /system/media or /data/local folder
4:: you will be warned that the merge will overwrite the existing file and that the world will end (not really, just accept the merge)

Looks awesome. Fitting for the DROID series. When I installed though I found my bootanimation.zip in system/media, not data/local.

System/media is the correct location on my phone as well. Looks great! Nice work.

good to know...OP updated, thanks.

you can install new boot animations in /data/local, they will run in place of the system, default. this will allow you to use new boot animations but still have your original in case you want it back. (some things like the UOT kitchen will install boot animations here by default)

[MOD] BIOS Boot Animation - Now for CM 7 too!

As usual, I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
Requirements:
Rooted myTouch 4G
Android 2.2/2.3
Fingers
Brain
Root Explorer (or similar)
I had a request for a BIOS style boot animation in my splash screen thread. So here is what came up with. I used two different style animations as my base. The first came from frysee, whose N1 BIOS this was modified from. The other came from jeckyll. I used the same style as his animation for the HD2. Both have minor differences from the originals and of course they have the specs from our phones.* These are also very generalized so they can be used with any 2.2 ROM. Enjoy!
Instructions Android 2.2:
Copy/download the animation's zip to your SD card
Open Root Explorer
Rename the file to TMUS_bootanimation.zip (Only for stock/iced glacier. Name may change for other roms. CM 6 it should be bootanimation.zip)
Copy the animation to /system/customize/resources (don't forget to mount the resources folder as r/w before copying)
Done!
Instructions CM 7:
Copy/download the animation's zip to your SD card
Open Root Explorer
Copy the animation from your SD card to /system/media/ (don't forget to mount the media folder as r/w before copying)
Done!
Instructions for copying with Android Commander by neidlinger (see original post here / pictures are in original post)

Five easy steps using "Android Commander" Source for Android Commander
Pre-reqs
1: phone
2: drivers to connect your phone to your computer
3: Android Commander
4: brains and the ability to follow directions
1: open Android Commander and make sure you have Root Access, Bottom left corner.
2: Navigate to the target folder, you can use the address bar below the window to get there quickly. IE Gingerbread you'd type in "/system/media/"and it will take you directly to that folder.
3: delete the bootanimation
4: Push the bootanimation to that folder
5: use adb shell to check for animation.
my pictures below are for Gingerbread.
if you screw up your phone, it's your fault.

You can test your animation by opening a command window and typing
adb shell
bootanimation
exit with Ctrl+C
(This can also be done through the terminal emulator, though I'm not sure how to exit. I tried it and had to use adb to reboot. So I don't recommend doing it this way! )
Also, with the second animation, there was a request for a splash screen that said loading. That is included here as well. Instructions for
flashing can be found in my thread for custom splash screens.
There is also a new splash screen that matches the CM 7 animation. Instructions to flash are the same.
Thanks to jayizzbakk for being my guinea pig for the Android 2.2 animations!
And thanks to macheteZen for all his input and testing for the CM 7 animation!
Downloads are available in the next post.
*If there are any mistakes on the specs of the phone, please let me know!!! I will gladly modify these that way they are perfect!
Here are the downloads.
The boot animation for CM 7 is named bootanimation.zip
CM7BIOSLoad.img is a splash screen for the CM7 animation.
All others are for Android 2.2
wow thats awesome thank you!
i'm interested to so know how to plug these into a AOSP ROM.
You using CM7?
Sent from my Senseless Iced Glacier
Edit: It looks like you should just have to name it bootanimation.zip. Then copy/push it to /system/media. If this doesn't work let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

Lol, very nice, you just beat me to this. I downloaded the N1 bios boot last night and was going to edit tonight. I may still do it to get Ice Glacier in there eventually. Thanks for getting this up.
Awesome stuff, thanks! I usually never care about the small details like boot anims, but this one is sweet

It is a little bit of a process, but I am more than happy to explain it to you! PM me the times you have available in the next couple of days and we can work out a time to get together on tinychat or something so I can explain it.
How long did it take you to learn photoshop?

I took a class in high school where I learned very basic use of Photoshop. The boot animations here require very little knowledge of Photoshop. My proficiency with Photoshop is pretty low, I really don't have much experience with it.

[DROID 3 goods] Droid 3 boot animation + wallpapers + sounds on Atrix

I have found a system dump from Droid 3 which includes all their wallpapers, sounds and also boot animation. It's located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164736
drumercalzone09 was nice enough to created a CWM update file of the boot animation with sound. Get it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185339
original files from the dump
Media Dump (ringtones, notifications, boot animation)
http://bit.ly/mUsN8w
Wallpapers
http://bit.ly/p31Pio
If the Droid 3 is qHD, I'm pretty sure you can manually add the boot animation through Root Explorer.
Just rename it to bootanimation.zip and move it to system/media. It will be in the same location on the dump
As for the sounds, they should be in system/media/audio. You can put them on your internal SD card in media/audio/** where ** is ringtones, notifications, alarms respectfully
For the wallpapers... you could replace the stock Atrix ones under /res/drawable/Launcher.apk, but you'd lose the stock one, and I'm not sure exactly how you'd do it. You could always just make a folder and find them in the gallery.
I'm gonna try out the boot animation and sounds and report back!
EDIT: if you play the deerdeer notification in vlc, there's a little easter egg!
Another follow up: the boot animation works perfectly! Very nice looking too.

Blue Droid 3 Boot Animation
Hey guys last night I threw together a blue version of this. ENJOY!
You will need to rename the zip to bootanimation.zip and put into your system/media or data/local folder to use!
If you like it or use it please press the "Thanks" Button!
i tried the method above with root explorer but that was a no go for me. instead i used root tools. renamed the file to bootanimation_backup.zip and placed it in the root tools folder. that seemed to work for me but i still get no sound though. i like the blue droid 3 animation and am using that one. thanks!
The boot animation looks sweet. I'll see what other goodies there are too. Thanks, man!

To anyone who wants to save their current animation in case they wanna go back. Just use something like root explorer to make a copy of the bootanimation.zip that u already had in system/media
And paste the copy on ir sdcard for safekeeping
Ill be checking this one(and all the others I see in ur sig...wow lol)) later ....thanks
you can also just drop this in the data/local folder and your current boot animation will remain untouched in system/media
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Yup ..that too
I was speaking more for the system media folder
I had noticed it worked that way when I had changed it b4 using root tools...

You can also change the ending to .bak instead of .zip and it can stay in the media folder.

Yea
When I tried that when.using root tools tho it deleted my stock animation ...
Copying the zip is fool proof
For some reason it only plays once instead of repeating until the phone boots. Is that normal?

out of curiosity, for those who aren't getting the loop, did you put the zip in system/media or data/local? I rechecked the files and the loop is scripted. Haven't had any issues with anybody running it on Bionic...

boot animation help

Okay, so I've done lots of reading and tried lots of different things but cant seem to customize my bootanimation. I was trying to get the android piss on apple one, so I downloaded the zip file, put it on my sd card, then moved it to system/media and renamed it bootanimation.zip. This did not work, from everything I read it says this is what to do. I also tried to put it in data/local and it didnt work. I am running the newest version of eclipse rom does this make a difference? Now my phone is not playing any boot animation since i wrote over the eclipse one. any help is appreciated! THANKS!

hmm, still not working, do this just to the zip file? Maybe I have a bad download? I tried a couple other boot animations and none of them are working though. I think I deleted something else in that folder that said boot animation (something) it wasnt a zip file i forgot what kind it was. can an app or something block it from happening?
In the stock /system/media you should see two items, /audio and bootanimation.zip. you need to take your new boot animation and move it to your /system/media. Rename the old animation "bootanimation.zip.bak" and rename the new one "bootanimation.zip" set permissions and reboot.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
You could also just install jrummys free rom tools app. Just dont try to use any of the cwm stuff. Boot animations worked just fine on eclipse and liberty. Should work on cm7 too...

Boot screen

I have Cherrykang installed and so far I am pleased with the performance. But I really like the boot screen animation.
I realize though that with the changes that are most likely coming with Touchpad Android development and me being a flahoholic, I won't be on Cherrykang for too long.
How can I keep the boot animation no matter what rom I flash. In root explorer how can I find it and use it for other roms?
Thanks
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The boot animation will be under /system/media as a zip file.
Sent from my GT-I5700 using Tapatalk
Found it! OK now if.....when I flash another rom I'll copy and paste this one.
