Hi
So as the title says, the thing went like:
- I use checkrom revolution from some time now (currently at v4)
- I tried ICS remix rom from westcrip I think it was v7.3 no-wipe. I did't do a backup, this was my mistake
- As it was not as good for a daily use, I reflashed checkrom
- The shortcut to calendar had changed to something like "app not installed", when I go to add shortcut, calendar doesn't appear in the list
There is a Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk in system/app, if I run it, it launchs an installer but at the end it says "Application not installed"
I know there are lots of calendar apps in market but I liked the default, so I'd like to know if there is a way to get it back :s
Any help will be appreciated

You don't run .apk files in /system/app. If the files are already there, they should be in your app list. If they're NOT in your app list, reboot. If they're still not in your app list, factory reset/data wipe. If they're STILL not in your app list, reflash checkrom.
EDIT: How are you adding the shortcut? Long press on the homescreen, or long press on the icon in your app drawer? Does the calendar show up at all in your app drawer?

Factory reset>flash stock again. BACK UP!!!>flash whichever ROM you like.
Saying "I didn't backup, my mistake" is a pathetic and lame excuse.

It isn't in my app drawer either, I forgot to mention it in the OP, I was doing long press on homescreen. I've rebooted and reflashed checkrom, I was hoping for an option that didn't involve wipe/reset
And when I said I didn't backup was not meant as an excuse, just more information, in case someone asked if I did it / suggested to recover from backup

Wait - are you trying to flash back from ICS to a GB based ROM withOUT wiping? Yeah, as far as I know, that'll never work. You will HAVE to wipe.
EDIT: To be honest, I'm kind of surprised you're not seeing more problems and issues with your phone, if you DIDN'T wipe going from ICS back to GB.
That's right, I flashed back to GB from ICS with just cache/dalvik wipe and everything works fine, the calendar gone is the only problem I have.
Thanks for the answers, I guess I'd have to go with the wipe.

Hello,
i'm trying to reply in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854&page=6888
but i cant because i'm new to XDA.
i installed the rom with xperia launcher, everything seems to be working except the clock, wich always crashes (tried already moving back and forth cm10 kernels and roms, full data/dalvik/cache wipes) and it just wont work (cant' set alarms etc) this is really stopping me from using this mod :X
thanks in advance

try this for now and see
1)go to system settings > apps
2) under All tab find the clock app and clear data/cache of the same
3) reboot to recovery and under advance option do fixpermission.
4) reboot to system and then check for clock issue

Again thank you!

Hi Guys,
I have a slight issue, running mostly stock rooted JB rom. Problem is when I try to delete a shortcut icon from the System Settings->Lock Screen->Lock Screen Options->Set Shortcuts on Lockscreen. It simply hangs for a while and does not delete the shortcut. Now I have a set of junk shortcuts which I cannot delete. I believe this is a default bug, as one can't delete home-screens either in TouchWiz.
Does anyone know where these shortcuts are stored in the system files so that I can edit/delete them manually.
Thanks a million for any reply.
For those who struggle with the same problem, a simple double tap allows you to switch the shortcut with a new one. This applies if you are also stuck with the icons that wont delete.

Yip, there is a known problem in 4.1.x Stock Samsung Rom. Its ok now though, using Nova Launcher.
I've got the same issue...
I did few FULL wipe to go on Omega rom, Vicking rom or CheckROM: always same result... I'm pissed -__-
Does anyone know which file do I have to edit to remove one of these useless shortcuts/icons pls? I don't wanna change/replace it. Just remove the one I don't want.
Thank you for reading
I've recently installed AOKP(Jellybean 4.2.2) Task650 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808015) and the basic install seemed to go very well. I came from stock 4.0.4 (rooted) and for the record I'm using Recovery 6.0.3.0 and I did a full wipe including format system, data, cache, dalvik etc. I installed the new gapps after the ROM, and later restored apps using Titanium.
I have a few issues I can't quite sort out though, and I'm not sure if they are JB, Nova or AOKP related so I thought I'd start a new thread.
1) Lockscreen doesn't appear. At all. When I wake the tablet up, it just comes straight back on to the previously used screen. I've checked all the standard Security settings (unlock mode set to slide or pattern, lock on power button, etc) and also the fancier AOKP ones, but whatever I do the lockscreen just does not appear. I've re-cleared cache and dalvik.
2) Notifications are not showing in the Notifications area. I can see the AOKP 'Toggles' icons/tiles for wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, etc; the clock; the battery level; the wi-fi SSID, etc - but no general Notifications at all (e.g. list of any updated apps, any download statuses, Poweramp mini controls, new emails/facebook messages, Samba active display, etc).
When these various notification are issued, I do see them appear briefly in the lower-right corner in a grey rectangular box which covers the clock/battery area of the status bar (so the notifications do appear to be triggering) but as soon as that brief message disappears, I can't see any of the notifications within the pop-up notifications area where they should be.
Does anyone familiar with JB, AOKP or this particular ROM have any suggestions, as I'm as a loss at the moment?
Andre
Ah, no-one with any ideas of where these issues might be coming from then?
I might have to try another full-wipe install, and if that fails just go back to stock 4.0.4 until (if ever) Samsung releases a JB update for the original 10.1 tab.

I'm not familiar with that rom, but there are a few things you can try.
1. Try posting in the development thread, it might be a known issue that has a quick fix.
2. If you really want to stick with that rom try the full wipe again. But since you already started with one I don't know if it will fix the problems.
3. If you want to stay with jb I would recommend Aopk build 6 by djmatt604. It runs smoothly and the dev is pretty active.
Hope this helps even a little.

Many thanks for the reply. I have searched and asked in the dev's thread, but I get the very clear impression that if it works on his hardware and no one else has the same problem, his opinion is that it's 100% up to me to sort it out - which is entirely his prerogative, of course: his ROM, his thread, his rules.
Thanks for the recommendation of another AOPK option (I assume you mean [ROM][P7510][4.2.2][UNOFFICIAL] AOKP Build 6 :: MR1 :: Mar 29 Nightly). I think I might go down that route since, like you, I'm rather dubious that another full-wipe will be any different to the first one.

Yup that's the one. I'd recommend doing a full wipe on the first install to avoid issues. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I went with [ROM][KERNEL][RECOVERY][JB4.2]Infamous AOKP 1.4 (14-Apr-13) in the end, from the same dev you suggested. I added Nova as my launcher and it all works like a charm (well, after I recovered myself from a stupid near-brick when I decided to format the user sdcard in order to clear out any remaining junk from old installs; it cleared out a lot more than I wanted!!!)

Yeah, I usually just wipe data / Factory reset when doing a full wipe and then go in manually and clean out folders that I don't need to clear space. SD maid is a good app for clearing unused space too.

Yeah, I'm normally the same but I thought I'd be nice and thorough for once and get rid of any remaining legacy ICS stuff which some JB updates shove into hidden folders when you upgrade. In hindsight, I shouldn't have bothered.
Still, at least when I finally did get the system recovered enough to install the new ROM, the free space was amazing!

I think the problem may have been with something that Titanium Backup restored from my previous setup, but I never found out what. I had to do a factory reset to clear it in the end (although not a full ROM reinstall).
As I'd already gone that far though, rather than risking re-installing apps again I actually chose another ROM anyway - Infamous (see above) - which I'm very happy with, and the devs there seem much happier to talk to you in general. Just my observation anyway, your experiences could well be quite different of course.

after unininstalling some system apps twlauncher stoped working in galaxy s2 ics rooted.I cleared storage and deufault settings but nothing worked. Some files must be corrupted.Temporary installed another launcher to work with the phone. Is there any way to download stock twlauncher?
You have given the answer in your post, and still you seek the answer?
Let me make it clear - you probably uninstalled system apps that TwLauncher needs to work. I really hope you did backup of those apps, or why just not freeze them? Much easier and safer.
Have you for starters in your search for Twlauncher, searched in Google?
Even if you find TwLauncher app i don't think it will fix this problem, since the system apps will still be gone
The solution is to flash a ROM or re-flash the currnet ROM.

Maybe i give answer in my post but you didn't answer my question too......i know the problem....no i don't have a backup and i can't find the stock twlauncher app....can you help in this?i want to avoid flash.
You can't. Re-flash the rom (and let that be a lesson learned to freeze stuff rather than remove or uninstall it in future - and to make regular backups).
No one who has the stock touchwiz launcher apk?
It won't work. The file dependencies would be messed up/deleted. But if you want to try it, go download a stock rom from Samfirmware & pull the apk out yourself.

How can i pull it out?
Root phone then get root browser free from playstore and copy file to sd. Done
OP...you have been told by 2 people that it WON'T work....I think you need to trust them. You may not have uninstalled the actual TW apk, but you have uninstalled a system apk that TW depends on. Reinstalling the TW apk will not reinstall the missing system apks. All it'll do is overwrite the non functioning launcher with another non functioning launcher. You need to be able to remember with 100% accuracy what you uninstalled and focus on reinstalling just those elements.......
Be advised that you should also look for a firmware that exactly matches your current ics version, otherwise there may be differences to the extracted apks that *could* cause system conflicts. And finally, if you've been playing with ics 4.0.4, I'd advise you to forget about it entirely, and consider a full reflash with either 4.0.3 or 4.1.2......
Search 'emmc brickbug' for the why.....
