Hi everyone,
I am a newbie of Android and I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 at the virgin mobile this morning.
I didn't realize it at first but when I got home I found some disappointing camera shots............
Instead of the red spot that people are talking about elsewhere, my pictures shows some yellowish spot at the middle under the auto white balance...........
I checked the back of the phone and it says it is made in Korea, does that make a difference? Would that be a software problem or a hardware problem. Is there anyway to fix the problem?
I like this phone a lot and I don't wanna exchange it because it has an awesome screen.........but if the yellowish spot is a hardware problem then I have no choice...............
Welcome to the club, but that seems more like green to me. I envy you for being special, everybody else has a pink spot
It depends on lighting and white balance, sometimes I get a pink spot, sometimes a green one, just choose a different setting and see which one gives you the best result

Thanks! but neither of them wouldn't be a "good result", I am just wondering if it is a software issue since I have no problem of taking black and white photos...........if it could be fixed with new firmware release then I can wait...........if not then I will just exchange for a new one.
I've had my evo 3d for about a month and a half and recently I've noticed that near the bottom middle of the screen there is a small 1/8 inch blotch that is brighter than the rest of the screen. It is most noticeable on a white screen and seems to be getting worse. Anyone know what could cause something like that? Or how to fix it without taking it to sprint?
Would sprint fix it if it is a defect of the phone since its less than 2 months old when it doesnt have the extended warranty?
Has no one else run into this problem?
You sure you have an Evo3D? Lol.
I had this exact issue in the same spot on my Evo4G. It was faint and only noticeable on white. Now its noticeable nearly all the time. But I haven't heard of that same issue on the 3D at all.
Yes it is the 3D. I would try taking it into sprint but 1) its rooted, 2) the nearest sprint store is a 50 minute drive away since I don't live near where I bought it and 3) I dont have the TEP so I dont know if it is covered under like a manufactures warranty or anything. The spot is getting worse and I know over time it will be really bad. I can already start to see it even when not viewing a white page. Any light color shows it now.
I had this same issue on several 4g's but never heard of it on the 3d. I would still try to get then to replace the screen, just have a stock looking ROM loaded up and keep your fingers crossed.
I know I've seen a topic on this matter before, but I'm going to do this anyway.
I've got a red HTC EVO 3D GSM (for US/Asia market), and two friends of mine bought their EVO 3Ds from a store here (Romania, Europe, that is). So mine is red, for US/Asia, and theirs is golden, for EU market.
If I put my 3VO right next to the two others, with screen brightness set on maximum, displaying a full-white image, the screen of MY 3VO is definetly yellow-ish. It's not much - I mean, it's only noticeable when in contrast (put next to another 3VO or a Desire S or such). If there's no other phone display nearby for me to see, my EVO 3D's display rocks but as soon as I see another one... I freak out...
Is there anyone else having a phone with this issue? My phone is from the first batch ever, I believe, since in the Hboot it says July 2011, and on the two 3VO's of my friends, it says October (so theirs are definetly newer)...
If there is anyone else having a phone with a yellow-ish screen, please tell me what date is shown in your Hboot, and if your phone is red or golden colored on the back cover.
-----------------------------------------------------
I've seen discussions on this before, but that was on the fact that the 3VO screen is VERY YELLOW. I don't realise mine is yellow-ish, unless I put it next to another 3VO, for example, as I said.
Even though the EVO 3D and the Desire S (what my girlfriend has) have a S-LCD screen, if I set both screens on maximum brightness, mine is definetly brighter. When I boot phones up... you know the HTC bootlogo... It's obviously YELLOW on my phone, and WHITE (well, more to the blue, if you ask me - but that could be just my brain, tricking me) on the Desire S...
I noticed my EVO I had to send back due to a faulty cell radio was definitely yellow in tint on the screen, as compared to my friends Sensation, however my new replacement is normal, both were GSM UK models with the gold trim around the cameras.

I seen the Sensation in a YouTube video. As opposed to the 3VO, THAT looked yellowish (the Sensation).
Oh well, I am not having other troubles except for the screen (which is an issue as long as I have another 3VO near me to compare it to)... The earpiece is a bit buzzy-ing, but other than that... Perfect..
Besides, I ain't got no warranty XD
In the end, it's not much of an issue (the display). If I think of it more, I guess I'd rather have it like this, not blue-ish...

Well that's the problem isn't it, you wouldn't notice if you didn't have another phone to compare it to .

Yeah... I mean, I wouldn't see my phone's display as BRIGHT YELLOW unless I had another EVO to compare it to... but even sometimes, it LOOKS a BIT yellow. It's not much of a problem, but the "issue" is there, and it's... I don't know... annoying that I don't know why and how many phones it affects?
---------------------
I just got a MOMAX Anti-glare screen protector today, and I regret every bit of it . For some reason, it looks like **it on the EVO, but when I had the Desire HD, I could live with such an unclear screen protector for over a month... Now... it makes me switch to another phone, lol.
Anyway, back to the yellowish tint... Do you have it?
Seriously, no one's phone is having this... problem?! :/

I never had this problem with my Evo 3D screen.
I don't have any problems with the colors of the screen, but since I've bought my phone 3 weeks ago I have this strange black dot in the middle of the screen. It's not inside it, I can see it very well on top of it. I just can't clean it off. Maybe it's some sort of ink??? I tried cleaning it with fingers, fingernails and by gently rubbing it with cotton. Nothing helped.

Just one dot? Like... a pixel?! Cause it could be a dead pixel, but I can't remember exactly whether dead pixels were supposed to appear black or white.
The 3VO of a friend of mine has a few dust particles under the screen, around the edges - around 5 particles or so. I'm just glad mine doesn't -.-

the pixel is composed of three color elements (RGB), if the pixel is dead none of the three elements is turned on and then is black. If the pixel is white, it means that the three color elements are lit with the same intensity, so you can not define dead but stuck on white

Survey = not necessarily a poll, if that's what you were asking / expected to see.

And if a pixel is stuck on white, could it be a OS issue? If not, the pixel is still rendered useless = as good as dead

Dead and white pixels are hardware problems.
A dead pixel can not (usually) be fixed, white pixels can sometimes be fixed.

I've tried Screen Adjuster. If I add 5 to Blue, the screen is not so yellow-ish anymore. The grays are not brown-ish anymoe, and the whites are not SO yellow-ish.
Could anyone install Screen Adjuster and add 5 points to Blue? Tell me the outcome afterwards, please.

Tried it, definitely gives it a more "cool" feel, like changing the colour temperature on an HDTV.

Adding 5 points to Blue definetly makes my screen look more white. Well, not exactly WHITE, as it shifts it more towards blue, but at least it is less browish when it should be gray and so on...
At last, I no longer wanna trade my 3vo just because of the screen

I just unboxed my ltEVO and it has a predominant yellow tint for white. I read about this with the one-x. Mine seems heavy. But I'm coming from a super amoled+ display that has a blue tint on white. Anyone else having this issue?
I read about a possible patch for the one-x, do you guys think this can be corrected via software?

Send it back and get a gs3 in about 5 months

From my experience with screen starting with the Treos to HTC to Asus that this is hardware and not software. Sometimes screen manufacturer will use a different top panel if supply is short.
However there is an app called "Screen Adjuster" that will allow you to change RGB as well as contrast. I used this temporarily on my Asus Prime (home screen transition) til I finally got a Prime with a whiter less yellower screen. It may slow your phone down however as it slowed my Prime just a tad. The contrast is what'll slow it down by a lot so try not to use it.
I forget though but you may need to be rooted to use it.

Youll get used to it till you see another screen thats whiter or more blue.
My screen is much more yellow than my brothers, I used ADB to get the panel manufacturer and they both say sony...so strange. I used the method that the ATT One X guys are using over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25025862&postcount=29
Both ours say Sony, what do you get?

Yes, its normal if your coming from a different phone like the s2.
Its probably sony made screen which is better! Most people prefer the yellowish tint than blue anyways!
I know this thread is old, but I figured it'd be better to bring it back up than to create a new thread about the same thing. I got my EVO one week ago and have noticed that I have this yellow tint on my display as well. From reading through other forums for various phones (iPhone, One X, etc.), many people say that this is due to an adhesive that hasn't fully cured and should go away with time. On my phone, the tint is the most pronounced towards the bottom of the phone. I'm not sure if it really will go away with time or not, and my 14 days will be up soon.
My main question is that for others who have noticed this yellow tint on their phones, has it really gone away over time? Or is it still there?
The strange thing I have noticed is that it is not my ENTIRE screen that seems to be warmer/yellow-tinted. The very very edges of the LCD on all four sides appear to be free of this yellow tint. For example, when I open the Settings menu, I can make out a slight warm/yellowish rectangle covering all of the LCD except for the very edges which appear to be pure white. I'm not sure what to do with my phone as far as whether I should keep it or try to get it replaced in hopes of getting one without this yellow tint.

Mine has had the yellow tint on the bottom of the screen since launch. It has not gone away.
I forgot to mention that even when using Screen Adjuster and boosting the blues or even the reds or greens just to experiment, the yellow is still visible. This leads me to believe that it is not an issue with the LCD but rather with something that is on top of the LCD.
Yah... It's not going to go away. But if you're like me, you will eventually stop noticing it. Had mine for two months and the tint at the bottom right is still there but I honestly had forgotten about it till I saw this post.

I received my new htc evo v 4g few days back, and unfortunately, I also have yellow tainted screen. I also have galaxy s2 and this is huge change for me.
Galaxy s2 is on white and bluish side. and this htc evo v is predominantly yellow. If i open google on both the background, supposed to be white, is strongly yellowish in htc. Also, if i use the app screen adjuster, i am able to fix it !
Now am at the fix shall I continue with it or go for a change. The problem is that replacement is huge hassle with virgin mobile. PLUS you have to pay shipping by urself as well.
What you guys did? getting used to yellow or replacement?

Hi,
I recently got the Xperia Z2 Black and I noticed when I look at the phone directly without tilting there is a reddish tint on the bottom. When I tilt the phone slightly it go away. However, the way I use my phone is to put it directly (no tilt) when using it.
Is that normal? I read here that there are some Z2 that have gap or overheating but I have non of those. I recorded 4K video for 16 minute and nothing happened. I turned it off as my hand got tired.
Do you think I should return it?
Thanks.
PS: The red tint is not very extreme but it is very noticeable in white background. I used the white balance to reduce it but it's still there.
Note: The title say Z but it's actually Z2.
