Long stoty short. I made a backup and flashed bonzi tab wint in to bootloops. Triyed to restore my backup and it faled :-|. So i wiped then tried to flash the 3.1 file i used when i rooted the tab. Bootloops........... So i ues the only odin file i could find the euro wifi touch wiz. And happy day that worked. But i now have stock recovery and no root.
This is one of the locked tabs. And i could not seem to get adb to work. But it will work on my nexus s. I have been runing custom roms on my evo and now ns4g. I know my way around adb and cwm, but this is my first time using odin.
I would like to return to stock
Thank you in advance
I only saw the 3.01 stock Tom. You can download. it from the stiky thread on the developers forum.
Use Odin to flash it and after finished you can OTA to 3.1.
I had the same problem as you and this solved it.
Retail Wifi 10.1? Use the Odin flashable CWM and flash stock 3.1 linked in the FAQ in the development section.

I am coming from a STOCK 2.3.5 rooted. I was trying to install CWM and found a post that involved replacing the stock recovery file with a 3e Recovery. I went into root manager and renamed the old recovery and replaced with the 3e Recovery. When I rebooted I am stuck in the 3e Recovery screen and I cant get out.
I can use Odin to get into CWM but not sure what I need to do to fix this. After rebooting from CWM I am stuck in a Samsung Logo loop. If I am not restarting from CWM I am stuck in the Recovery 3e Menu.
I was trying to do a backup from CWM in the first place so nothing is backed up. I hope I can get this fixed without loosing everything.
ditch rom manager, then look a couple threads down for my guide. refer to section 5&6...also cwm3 will not allow nandroid backups on stock roms...need cwm2.5.x red or also known as cwmall, which also can be found in my guide.
Thanks Droidstyles, I had been referring to your guide to use Odin with CWMall. (thanks btw!)
If I flash the stock gingerbread rom will I loose all my data? I was trying to root for my wife and put a more stable rom on and shes gonna kill me if I lose her angry birds and peggle data. I was planning on using TI Backup, I just didnt get to it yet. Thanks.

use odin and flash cwmall, then three finger into recovery, make a nandroid backup, try rebooting, if still stuck in recovery, refer to section 5 and flash back to stock. Then use odin and flash cwmall again, three finger into recovery, navigate to back up & restore/advanced restore/ data only.
This has got me back up and running, thanks!
The restore did not restore the app data (game saves) so I am trying to find a way to extract it from the nandroid back up. Thanks for your help!
Nandroid Browser should be what you are looking for.
Thanks for that suggestion. I tried using it and went through all the folders I could and was unable to locate what I was looking for. Ah well not the end of the world. I did the nandroid backup from a bootloop and I suspect everything did not go as well as hoped.
Anyway I installed PowerWashed eh09 with TSM Resurrection and everything seems to be well. Hopefully the GPS fix works

Phone: Verizon Samsung Fascinate (sch-i500)
rooted using Odin and a guide on these forums specific to the phone
rom Manager flashed for Samsung GalaxyS i9000 recovery: 2.5.1.2
I need 3.0.0.8 (downloaded from the rom manager site)
1) Is this a problem?
2) the file I have (3.0.0.8 CWM recov) is a .zip, using Odin can I flash it as recovery. If so what button? (PDA was for rooting, I don't want to rush into things and do the same)
I plan on flashing a custom rom, but feel I need to fix my recovery mod FIRST.
If I can fix this with a kernal say so and I will find one.
P.S. I will not be paying for mobile odin, I would go back to stock or leave as is before putting out a penny to this phone.
edit: Instead of the "CWM 2.5 red recovery" i had from the root (i might be a little stupid...) I now have a blue recovery and the buttons are different. Is there a way to revert to "CWM 2.5 red recovery"
ROM Manager is a complete waste of time with this phone. It won't work. Droidstyle's Guide is the only way to to go.

that's the guide I used for rooting my device.
I'll read through it again thanks
Yeah, the guide also covers the correct way to flash custom ROMs, recoveries, and kernels. You'd have to read way back in the forums, but you'd find that the ROM Manager discussion was conclusive. It simply doesn't work for the SCH-1500. The good news is that flashing via CWM and Odin, as you'll learn, is quite easy. You just have to do things exactly as Droidstyle describes. 99% of the rooting problems you'll read about in these forums have more to do with incorrect flashing techniques than they do with with devs' coding errors.
Hi,
I am trying to root a second T959 phone, my wife's, but am not having much luck. It is currently running Froyo 2.2 w/ KB5.
I tried using AIO Toolbox to root, but that did not work. The first problem I encountered is that it complained that 'verification failed' when I tried to reinstall package.
I searched through the forums, and found that I have recovery 3e. Noticed that on the recovery menu too. So I did what this thread indicated:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423&highlight=root+3e
Ran the install.bat, and it did its work. I was still not able to apply the update.zip, but I was able to run 'SuperOneClick' to root the phone, or I thought. SuperOneClick reports that I have rooted the phone, but none of the apps think so. So right now, I am still stuck, with a phone that I cannot root.
I found this other thread talking about using ODIN to flash in a CWM instead of using recovery. I am a bit hesitant about this, as I am worried about flashing anything at this point without a backup.
I realize that I could ODIN to stock and I would be able to root and upgrade ROMs without problems, but I would really like to backup using Titanium before doing so.
Maybe I missed something somewhere, but is there a way that I can root this phone on the current fw?
Solved
Ok, found this thread with further searching, and it solved my problem.
Phone rooted and upgraded to JB! Woohoo!

You don't need a computer to flash a ROM. Find a ROM you like, I recommend a JB ROM as they are supported, anything prior will not be. Download the ROM zip and gapps zip if required. Use a root file app, I use root browser, and move the zips from
sdcard/download to sdcard. Boot to recovery, wipe cache, advanced>wipe dalvik cache, wipe data/factory reset, install zip from SD, install ROM then install gapps, reboot and profit!
*you might have to flash the ROM more than once as it has to update recoveries and partitions.

ty for your reply it was very helpful. i got impatient and flashed a ram before i saw it and everything went perfect. But i do appreciate not only the reply but the steps as well. i am now running iczen with subzero on my vibrant and its the most beautiful thing ive ever seen. lol. i dont even recognize my phone anymore and it feels like i just got a 800 dollar phone for free. i have even recommended every person i know with an android phone to join the site as well as read all steps carefully. thank you again sorry for the long post but i have just been so thrilled about the results i have got.
I´m on S3 International and have flashed Philz Recovery with ODIN and flashed Wanam latest 4.3. Works great! I have even flashed the S4 launcher and weatherwidget and all is still well.
However, now I want to try to run MIUI on my S3. After backing up my S3 and started to flash I got Error Status 7. I have read some threads about it and the first I wanted to try was to install another recovery. But even when I flash another recovery I get Error Status 7. I suddenly can´t flash anything at all. Does this have to do with the fact that I ticked the "disable recovery flash" when exiting the Philz recovery after starting this journey when beginning to root and so on? If so... how do I get it "unticked"?
First up...
Will flashing another recovery (CWM for example) help me get past this Status 7 problem?
Second...
If I descide to flash CWM Recovery via ODIN will it reset my current ROM in any way or will everything stay the same?
Third...
I read somewhere that I can modify the updater-script in the META-folder. Is that really a afe way to go about it? It feels kind of wierd when the *.zip´s are made for the right phone, model, version and so on...
Thanx for the help, guys!

You didn't mention the version of Philz you were using. Anyway, the error 7 can be caused from 2 main reasons:
1- Older recovery version. Flash the lastest recovery available (6.15.4) and try again: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300
2- Corrupted rom download.
To your 2nd question- if it doesn't work with Philz, it will not work with any other recovery.
Well... when I asked about how to go about rooting just a week ago I got links to what I needed. And with that I got a link to Philz Recovery. But now I see that it was an old version (6.07.9)
I´ll try with the latest one and see where that takes me.
Edit:
Flashed the latest Philz and took a new backup just in case. It didn´t work. Still Status 7. So I re-downloaded the ROM just in case it was corrupted but still the same... aborted Status 7.
So... now what? Am I screwed?
I read somewhere that it could have something to do with the fact that I use an external SD-card. Will it really make a difference if I flash it from the internal memory and even if i take the SD out of the phone?

So... the links refer to downgrading to a really old recovery used for rooting with CF or unticking the "disable signature check" ... feels strange.
Is there anyway to explain why this error occurs?
Last question before giving this up...
If I should downgrade my recovery, is that safe? And how will it work with downgrading from a 4.3 ROM to a 4.1.1 ROM. Is this nothing to be concerned about?

Hello,
I have recently flashed Cyanogenmod 10.2.0 (with CWM) and was fairly happy with it, until I found that the TV-out is not and will likely never be supported. I recently purchased the samsung multimedia dock and it keeps also crashing my phone (though this should have been resolved as stated here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-2419).
Now I want to flash a stock ROM again to get the dock working. I already "googled" a lot and just would like some sense check especially as I haven't used ODIN before.
So please just check those steps and tell me where I am wrong and what I might be missing.
I will use this Stock ROM (for Germany where I got my phone) http://androidromupdate.com/2014/01...galaxy-s3-gt-i9300/?relatedposts_exclude=7388
Following the guide I can flash it using ODIN. Is it possible to flash it using CWM (from sdcard) also?
Anyway, this should leave the installed CWM in place right?
After that I can flash the de bloater http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732039 using CWM to get rid of all the apps I don't need.
Anything I missed?
Thanks a lot.
Follow the guide in general forum, sticky thread. Download the firmware from sammobile.com
You cannot flash from cwm, it will replace your recovery with stock.
