Hello,
I have recently flashed Cyanogenmod 10.2.0 (with CWM) and was fairly happy with it, until I found that the TV-out is not and will likely never be supported. I recently purchased the samsung multimedia dock and it keeps also crashing my phone (though this should have been resolved as stated here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-2419).
Now I want to flash a stock ROM again to get the dock working. I already "googled" a lot and just would like some sense check especially as I haven't used ODIN before.
So please just check those steps and tell me where I am wrong and what I might be missing.
I will use this Stock ROM (for Germany where I got my phone) http://androidromupdate.com/2014/01...galaxy-s3-gt-i9300/?relatedposts_exclude=7388
Following the guide I can flash it using ODIN. Is it possible to flash it using CWM (from sdcard) also?
Anyway, this should leave the installed CWM in place right?
After that I can flash the de bloater http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732039 using CWM to get rid of all the apps I don't need.
Anything I missed?
Thanks a lot.
Follow the guide in general forum, sticky thread. Download the firmware from sammobile.com
You cannot flash from cwm, it will replace your recovery with stock.
Don't post questions in general forum.

Bootloops........... So i ues the only odin file i could find the euro wifi touch wiz. And happy day that worked. But i now have stock recovery and no root.
This is one of the locked tabs. And i could not seem to get adb to work. But it will work on my nexus s. I have been runing custom roms on my evo and now ns4g. I know my way around adb and cwm, but this is my first time using odin.
I would like to return to stock
Thank you in advance
I only saw the 3.01 stock Tom. You can download. it from the stiky thread on the developers forum.
Use Odin to flash it and after finished you can OTA to 3.1.
I had the same problem as you and this solved it.
Retail Wifi 10.1? Use the Odin flashable CWM and flash stock 3.1 linked in the FAQ in the development section.

Hello. I'm new here but, had an android for a couple years now. I have the tmobile samsung vibrant running 2.2 froyo. Can anyone tell me in detail how to install ICS on my phone? To be honest, I do not understand all the talk about odin and all that stuff. So if you can explain as if it were ICS for to Vibrant For Dummies that would be great lol. Explain in laymens terms please. Thanks
Peppino
Guess I'll post this again: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wMQQDpqVNBk
Everything in that video is not all correct. There are some specific parts that are left out.
OP, I understand you want to simplest way to go from 2.2 ->4.0 but in reality, you need to eventually know how to use Odin, or when you get stuck at a bootloop or your CWR gets corrupted, your next thread will be "Help, I brivked my phone".
Check my signature for the How to install ICS and above all, you need to read, read and then read some more (case in point, this was already answered here Trouble with my vibrant...).
Good luck and if you have any questions, use the search function and/or Google, as this phone has been around a long time and most questions have already been solved. If not, then just ask.
hi, It is always better to go ICS from the beginning.. which solves many problems. So in order to go back to stock you should use ODIN. It is very easy ONLY thing is DONT DISCONNECT USB connectivity while the process is running.
After that you will need some things.
ICS ROM to flash (try ICZen which works great )
GB Bootloader
CM7
update.zip (CWM) which can be found in woody's signature. [Installing ICS ROMs; A Vibrant Step-by-Step]
Once you are in stock 1st flash GB Bootloader through ODIN (DO NOT do anything until it is flashed)
then flash CM7 (GB ROM b/c its suggested to go ICS from GB rather than from 2.1)
then flash ICS ROM on top of it. initial boot will take up more time.
voilaa..!!!
Always do full wipe (data, cache, dalvik) in between flashes.
there are many ICS ROMs available .. READ instructions carefully.
Note: these steps are taken from threads I referred and followed by me.

tc and all the best

You can give my guide a glance too. ( [Guide] How to install ICS **EVERYTHING you need to know how to install them** ) I would suggest reading the whole thing as there is quite a bot of really good information in there about several items of importance.
If you need any older files and such, they can be found in my Repo thread or N00B_IN_N33D's bible thread, both stickied in the Dev section.
And Moved to Q&A
So my cousin bought this Galaxy S2 2nd hand and by the looks of it its Rooted on 2.3.6. I couldn't get into the recovery though. I get a blank screen. So I think the first order or business is to flash a new recovery. But how?
Also after the recovery I will be able to flash the latest OMEGA ROM right? Do i have to update the bootloader, radio etc? Or that will cover it. Thanks alot. I've attached the screenshot of the About Phone though.

If the phone's rooted it should be as simple as flashing the rom concerned in CWM. But always read/follow the flashing instructions for the rom on the first page of the thread devoted to the rom. They're always on that page, and they're always simple/clear.

Actually there is NO recovery. And judging by the looks of the phone i believe it's a pretty downgraded phone. How do i flash a good recovery?

If there's no recovery you probably want to flash CFRoot given it's running GB. That will give you CWM & you can go from there. Search in the CFRoot thread to find the right kernel to use (read the first page/instructions very carefully; particularly the bit in bold red that says 'Help ! Which file do I use ?')
Hello everyone.
As the title says I recently got my hands on a Samsung Vibrant. I have it from a friend who just left the apartment we lived in together for 5 months as she didn't need it anymore. It currently has a MIUI ROM on it and I'd like to change it to sada23's unofficial CM 11.0
The problem is however that my only previous experience with flashing ROM was with a Samsung Galaxy Chat when I slapped Jelly Bean on it which was only released in a few countries. So I went right ahead but found the amount of things I have to do overwhelming compared to when I just used ODIN on the old phone.
I'm trying to tell what the current status is of the phone and this is what I've been able to come up with so far. (also after googling what everything is and does lol)
- MIUI present so custom ROM install definitely possible
- When I booted into recovery mode I saw it has: "Semaphore CWM Recovery v6.0.1.9" (which I presume is outdated)
- BY default the MIUI ROM apparently has a superuser app (which lead me to think that the device is rooted), however everytime I try to use an app that requires root I encounter errors.
I just did a backup using the recovery mode with semaphore cause I saw this is usually a first step in all the guides I've read. However from here on out I am completely clueless on what to do because all the guides were so different from eachother and I have a feeling my phone is in a vague situation. (root/not rooted?)
So I was hoping someone here could point me into the right direction and help me get to CM from MIUI. Thank you in advance.
I'll be following this thread.. kinda in a similar situation. Although a bit worse. I had an old vibrant in a drawer from years back in mint condish!.. last thing I did was root and install recovery. Unfortunately I'm a stooge and without thinking threw a 4.4 rom zip on the phone.. booted to recovery and cleaned and tried to flash.. bottom line i'm in a bootloop now... and I gave up when odin wasn't detecting the phone.. I"ll figure that out eventually, but it would be great to just have a 4.4 Odin tar for a quick and painless install... or at least a tar from a 4.0 with root and recovery to make the 4.4 upgrade easy.
Also would be interested in knowing if the 4.4 roms work well.. Gps will be most important to me since I plan to use this as my jogging phone.
alrighty.. let's get this party started!
Edit - I think the best thing for you to do is odin back to stock then root install custom bootloader and then flash your new rom, I've heard that you can go straight to kk from stock but the guy who posted above me has problems because of that so I would try flashing an ICS ROM for the recovery first, and don't forget to make a nandroid backup
You can find all the files and programs you'll ever need here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982728 in NOOB_IN_NEED 'S ref thread
Hope I was of some help if I was hit the thanks button
