Screen of Death is just a term used for the bug in 2.3.4 or KPH wherein as you described it in the first post...
"What is mean that none of the buttons response the screen is black like turn off
The only option to recover this is to take out the battery and return the battery, then the device turn on"
That is the Screen of Death. All ROMs that are made using KPH or 2.3.4 has this.
ok its happend just now ....after i was finished a voice call the screen turn black
i press the power button for like 12 sec and the device turn on
so its mean the problem the device was turn off from unknown reason
any advice ???

Use a non KPH firmware. I suggest KPN since it's an official Samsung release.
ok 10xx any workaround to do in order to stay in KPH 2.3.4??? beacuse i love the last rom FirstUA-ROM-v1.1
and what cause that problem ? i mean does any of the users that use this KPH have this issue?? or is just randomaly matters
and last Q from where i can dowload the rom that you post here KPN?
i didnt saw this rom in the:
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-s5830.htm
10x again man
I went to KPN from KPH because of the SODs. Im happy now and can easily wait for any roms coming for the official fw releases.

SOD was occuring in my wife's Ace on 2.2.1 and 2.3.3 versions. It might be a hardware problem?
so JiiJii the problem disipare from your wife phone?
and how can i tell if its hardware problem or software problem (rom)
and from where i can download the original samsung frimware
10x
I`m also geting the screen of death at least 5 times a day with the new official gingerbread (KPK). With 2.2.1 froyo it happend maybe once a week so i think it is not a hardware problem. I think it has something to do with the Wifi. When I`m walking around my house and the phone is losing and reconecting to WifI constantly it happens most. If i do not use Wifi it is better.
Luckily I have been using this phone for five months now with three months on kph 2.3.4 based roms and did not face this problem..maybe because of wifi...i hardly use wifi

any more ideas ? from where i can dowload the offical rom of samsung

Hey!
I dont hase the SOD even in STOCK FROYO. Now I have Code.Rom and WIFI is mostly on(even in screen OFF) and I havnt STILL NO SOD.
CHEERS!
KPH decreased the frequency of SOD but did not solve the problem. It happens only rarely to me now and is not a huge inconvenience. I have faith this will be worked out eventually...
I used KPH couple of weeks withouth any problems. I went on vacation in Turkey and started to expirience SODs few times per day. As I said, only WIFI of or third parity app can solve problem until now.
Thanks for your replys

i have the sod problem too. i get it in every standby. nothing helps. it is in every firmware so i think its a hardware issue. i bring it to the repair shop and hope that the problem fixed.
sorry for my bad english.
Hi
I had this problem to, but only on Froyo. Since i flashed to Gingerbread 2.3.4 kph, rooted and installed setcpu my problem was gone. Don' t no what the exact solution is, but i am happy this way.
Did you changed your advanced wifi setting too wifi turnoff when screen is out?
Good luck.

I did not have a single SoD incident in 3 weeks running with stock XXKPH rooted only.
For some reason though after converting to ext4 (no other real changes) I've gotten a few. Don't know coincidence or not.

Samsung India , seemingly so, does not want to believe me, or that this issue even exists!
I've never gotten sod, not in any roms.
Hey!
Like I sayed in THIS thread, SOD often cased by WIFI.
CHEERS!
i ve never had sod :-/
yeah its true..
it was caused by wifi..wether u are on wifi or u are sharing wifi through wifi tethering and then ur phone moves to unlock screen(screen time out which is a dark screen) then u try to used it again(like unlocking it again) concluding to SOD(in which fone restarts)..
if you want no SOD while doing some wifi related things..
put ur display setting>screen time out>>set it to 30mins..
so that ur phone will be always open..
what i mean is to prevent ur fone to unlock(screen time out) then phone will be no longer experience the SOD..
that was my experience..
but unfortunately..
the battery would drain faster..because ur phone is always opened..
i wonder why.. but i NEVER experienced SOD since i bought my ace.
I experienced this using Bluetooth transfer, went to sleep, and I had to remove the battery before I could turn it on.
I had my Galaxy Ace and flashed the firmware 2.3.4 update from www.samfirmware.com as I was recommended, thinks have being working good so far apart from a weird issue, the phone randomly (as in can't find the cause yet) goes to deep sleep and never wakes up so I have to restart it (long press power button or pull battery), my only guess is the light sensor because it occurs mainly when on my pocket I never occurs when Im playing music or charging the devices witch makes me think something is killing the system . have anyone experienced this? any workarounds or suggestions? or should I try an specific 2.3.3 rom instead?
thanks
Is the bug We call SOD its a WiFi sleep bug, don't leave WiFi on

Hey, are you latinoamerican? If so, then you could install the latinoamerican modem (from kp7 firmware). Since i'm using it, I've never had sod again (i've been using it for around 4 months or more, and no sod at all, with any stock rom... kph, kpo, kpn, they all are fine with the modem).
Just lemme know. Cya

Forever living in my Galaxy Ace using XDA App
Hey.
I have a Galaxy Ace, and usually I was using it with the original firmware of Samsung (Vodafone Portugal operator).
Last week after long periods of inactivity the mobile just stops to work for an hour or something like that, I mean the screen just does not answer to my touches.
So I thought it was some software problem, and I decided to install the CM7. The problem continues. So now, very often when I wake up, my mobile doesn't work for a while (even if i disconnect the battery... just work if I let the battery out of the phone for around 10 minutes).
I recorded a video with the problem of the phone.
Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance.

okkkkkk man but ur baseband is same try different framework like ddkq or kph one.
U mean install another rom?
And when it freeze do you have wifi turned on? If yes try to set in wifi settings no turning wifi off while is screen locked...

I don't think so, but I will make the test tonight.
I'll post the results tomorrow.
Yeah a stock rom(ddkq or kph ones) then install icsunday2 ...
Best combo
...
........
.............
Reason-these rom's are scratch roms like cm7 or icsunday they need a Stock rom or baseband to work.the Roms like sangingeracelite change ur baseband.that's why changing ur baseband might help

I checked the Wi-Fi thing, and today the phone worked good. So I guess that is not the reason.

Yes but the first time in my opinion it still doesn't have to pay for your help and advice on what to expect from us is safe. The other thing is that the information contained within this website and the other day.

Only wake up lag/delay solution I have managed to find for ICS
I had the same problem with my ICS on S2. I tried to find the solution for hours and hours and at last managed to solve it by installing Hydra ICS ROM! The problem is gone without installing softlocker or using anykind of other detour. It makes the phone fast and no more screen wake up lag. You can find the custom ICS rom Hydra from -->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403044
Only wake up lag/delay solution I thought worked for ICS
I was so happy about finding a solution to the delay problem. So I thought, until the problem returned. The custom ROM I mentioned was not the solution for this problem, my phone was working fine for an half an hour or so until it relapsed back to 2-3 s screen wake-up delay. Does anybody know an ICS ROM for S2 that address this problem? 0,5 to 1,5 sec delay wouldn't matter but 2-3 sec is too much delay in my opinion.
That's normal. With CM9 it's about a second. Seriously tho, what's the big deal about a phone taking a second or so to wake up ?
Now I know what's causing the random restart or freezes. It's my network connection. I posted 3 days ago I think, that I have a weird problem on my Xperia S. I troubleshoot, tested different roms, Stock, custom roms, GB or ICS, and what I noticed is that, when my network signal drops down (totally no bar), then immediately full bar, after 30 seconds - 2 minutes it reboots. I also did turn on the airplane mode, and yes it didn't restart. But I'm really confused because every time I'm using my phone for voice call (1-6 hours non stop voice calls), no random reboot! please help me understand guys.
By the way I'm using stock .58 right now, I relocked my bootloader and no root, but the random reboot is still there.
about same problem here,my mobile network disconnects for some seconds every about 5 minutes.the network I use at the moment is 2G.
I think we should wait for ICS!
could it be a hardware problem?? my phone fell from about 1 meter high, I'm a bit frightened :-s

Flash the latest software update man, It resolves issues including random restart/reboot. It's also the smoothest firmware.
Thank you so much! Now I can sleep better! This is really helpful!:good:

Hello, I've installed some firmwares ([email protected] 7, Erachter v5, CM9.1 FXP141, CM10 FXP141 and other original firmware), and all of them had problem connecting to the operator. I'm from Brazil and I removed the device in the store talking and after I did the upgrade from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4 android by Sony itself (PC Companion), my phone could not get over the carrier signal. Do you know tell me which baseband I could install to test?
Hi, can someone help me?

Try to use another sim card, for testing purposes only. Not same carrier as yours, see if it is working.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. The chip is working because I left the carrier and was talking. When I got home and updated from Gingerbread to ICS through Sony, said no more ... could you tell me which file I could use to update the baseband?
