Xperia S network connection problem - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Now I know what's causing the random restart or freezes. It's my network connection. I posted 3 days ago I think, that I have a weird problem on my Xperia S. I troubleshoot, tested different roms, Stock, custom roms, GB or ICS, and what I noticed is that, when my network signal drops down (totally no bar), then immediately full bar, after 30 seconds - 2 minutes it reboots. I also did turn on the airplane mode, and yes it didn't restart. But I'm really confused because every time I'm using my phone for voice call (1-6 hours non stop voice calls), no random reboot! please help me understand guys.
By the way I'm using stock .58 right now, I relocked my bootloader and no root, but the random reboot is still there.

about same problem here,my mobile network disconnects for some seconds every about 5 minutes.the network I use at the moment is 2G.
I think we should wait for ICS!
could it be a hardware problem?? my phone fell from about 1 meter high, I'm a bit frightened :-s

Tick auto time in the settings if you're using custom kernel.

I'm running stock ICS, locked bootloader. no root.

Flash the latest software update man, It resolves issues including random restart/reboot. It's also the smoothest firmware.

Thank you so much! Now I can sleep better! This is really helpful!:good:

Try to clean ur sim card sometimes got unseen dust take it out & clean it use alcohol with soft piece of cloth

Hello, I've installed some firmwares ([email protected] 7, Erachter v5, CM9.1 FXP141, CM10 FXP141 and other original firmware), and all of them had problem connecting to the operator. I'm from Brazil and I removed the device in the store talking and after I did the upgrade from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4 android by Sony itself (PC Companion), my phone could not get over the carrier signal. Do you know tell me which baseband I could install to test?

Hi, can someone help me?

Try to use another sim card, for testing purposes only. Not same carrier as yours, see if it is working.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. The chip is working because I left the carrier and was talking. When I got home and updated from Gingerbread to ICS through Sony, said no more ... could you tell me which file I could use to update the baseband?

[Q] Weird reboot problem

A while ago I have a weird problem. When my phone is on charge and I turn on 3G it keeps turning off like I would removed the battery. Everything fine until I start an app which uses internet, but when I do it turns off almost immediately. Wi-Fi works fine just the 3G is the problem. I got this problem on two different ROMs (FXP 115, FeraLab v14) and two different kernels (basic FXP115, DoomKernel v6 - medium overclocked), so it must be hardware related, am I right? If not hardware, what else could it be?
Sent from my Xperia X10 using Tapatalk
I had the same exact problem with my Motorola Backflip stock. In fact, if I moved locations where 3G wasn't available to where 3G was broadcasted, it would reboot. I could not fix it with any rom I installed (even tried CM7 which made the phone excellent except for the 3G reboots). I tried full wipes, stock Motorola Motoblur kernel, and everything else. I'm no dev so I didn't try tweaking anything myself and ended up getting rid of it and going with the X10. You can try the SEUS method but it can very well be hardware unfortunately. I hope you have more luck than I!!
If your phone is overclocked that could be a problem. Have a good search though sure I seen this before and think u have to either change something in build-prop or alter/remove a certain process (don't quote me though)

My phone has been overclocked since months, but I've never got this problem earlier, so I don't think that causes it, but I'll give it a try. And I'll search again maybe this time I find the answer. Thank you
Hi, I got a similar problem. Since a few weeks ago, flashed a ROM and when I've tried to use the phone, it keeps turning off randomly, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after hours. So, I tried to take it back to the clean original 2.3.3 ROM, but it keeps happening. ¿Any idea? ¿Any solution? Please, help me. Oh, something else, it only happens when the phone's used with the battery, when it's attached to my laptop as modem, the problem doesn't appear.

Xperia S 4.0.4 wifi problem!

Used flashtool to upgrade my xperia s to 4.0.4 a few days ago. For the first two days, the wifi worked fine, but I did notice the signal was a little weaker comparing to GB. Today is the 3rd or 4th day of using ICS, the wifi signal becomes extremely low, and even disconnects some times. After restarting the phone, the signal bar was back to full, but another problem appears... the wifi turns on and off for about every 30 seconds. Is that something you guys face too? Let me know!

The signal is weaker to me too, but I hadn't the other problems...
That is really bugging me...going to try factory reset to see if it fixes
I have wifi problem too. firstly, my Xperia S cannot obtain IP address automatically, it always shows limted connection on wifi status, I try to reset my wireless router, but no use. then I set a Static Address on my phone, looks working properly, but sometimes the singal become very weak, and the data transfer suspend, but can restore in 10~20 seconds. anyone who konws the solutions?

Lost of Data connection in ICS

Hello all.
I've been having a strange thing in my XPS since I've updated (officially) to ICS.
Randomly the data connection simply stops working.
Basicly I've got full signal, the 3G signal is there, but the H stops showing and no connection at all. I never had this problem in GB...
The only solution is to reboot the phone. As soon as I do that is working again, till the next failure.
Any ideas what might be happening? And the web brwosing in ICS is so much slower... In GB is was almost instant, in ICS is... Awfull. Should I go back to GB? None of the new things in ICS really interest me.
There is some reports about this bug,you have to wait for an update or try another firmware.

Same here.
When I leave my home network in the morning I have to reboot my phone because data is not available until reboot.
If later connect to any wireless network the data traffic comes back like always before.
Same is with my home network. If the phone is connected to home network and I force data, it's always working, only the morning is problematic.
I'm using ICS 4.0.4

Same problem here.
It just randomly stop to communicate even if the 3G or H icon is there. A samsung guy told me it may be an incompatibility between the ICS kernel and the modem firmware. No issues while connected to any WIFI.
Fixed with a reboot. Never happened to me with GB.

Same here, a reboot solves it, switching data off and on again, or going aeroplane mode and back don't do anything for it.
I have the same issue after updating to ICS.
I use preooted stock ROM.
Any updates on this issue.
Can anyone recomend ROM version which does not suffer form this issue?

same here, and because of that. im stop using Juice Defender anymore. JD cut the connection and reconnect few minutes after based from my setting just to save some battery juice, and this bug really annoying since i cant get any connection even JD reconnect. instead of reboot. im switch off-on data.
+1
ive noticed that after every 12-15hours my data connectivity shuts off completely. only solution is a reboot. this never happened on gb. annoying indeed.
Same problem here

Anyone contacted sony mobile about this issue to inform them for the coming firmware?
It's probably in all ics versions (.58 firmware here).
I've updated as well via Flashtool and now data doesn't work at all!!!!

same here (sony ICS rom). i talked to sony about one week ago regarding this issue. they told me that this comes from my sim card. i told them that i've never had such a problem with my SE C510 but they insist that the issue can only be solved with replacing the card... i do not believe this. i see the little arrow appears below the "H" and that means data is sent but not received. still turning off and on the phone once a week.
I am having this problem too on UK generic Android 4.04 build number 6.1A0.453
No fix yet?
How's possible Sony is not aware of this problem?

I would actually agree with what Sony say here, I was away for a few weeks and used a forign SIM card for that duration. Not once did the Data stop working, that included hopping between Wifi, H, 3G, E, etc.. So Maybe it is a SIM issue ? SInce I came back I also updated to the newest ICS release and haven't seen the issue yet.
I have the same problem and it's extremely annoying. I lose data connection after about couple of days. It doesn't make sense that this is a sim problem because GB was fine.
I have ICS 6.1.A.0.453.
Same here, I am sure its not the sim card, comm'on!!!
Did you ask to Customer service? They know jack****... lol

S2 constantly freezing

hello! just wondered if one of you lovely people could help? (yes im a noob)
my s2 keeps freezing, has constant drag and is just being a tad bit annoying.
i bought the phone new, i had rooted it and put a custom rom on. the custom rom ran fine for months so i doubt that is was a dodgy rom. then one day i just started getting these problems. so i took off the rooted rom, and when the problem was still there i unrooted (if that is the term) and rebooted to factory settings. i still have the problem though.
I have since rooted the phone again and am running the factory settings.
any help would be highly appreciated!!
It could be a 101 things.
Try rootbox v1.8 / dreamkernel v2.7.
I never have any problems with that.
Have you installed any apps recently? It might be an app..

Are you having the problem of the lock screen/brightness with every rom ?
You can figure by yourself if it's hardware issue , if every rom has same issues it's the phones problem
yes your right it must be the hardware problem then. oh no!! what should i do??
Maybe give GB a quick blast.
If its the same then Id brick it if you still have warranty(as samsung will probably load latest firmware and give you it back with the same problems as before).
ye il get in contact with vodafone tomorow
sorry but what is GB?

Wifi issues after updating to 4.4.4

I updated my C6833 via the Sony Update Service tool to 4.4.4 and have noticed since the update that my wifi drops in and out and it seems to show that it is running on my mobile data network for a brief second whilst wifi is connected. I don't remember this happening in the past.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
can you try something for me, please?
install a terminal emulator, like juice SSH. run it and connect to 'localhost'.
go very near your router and do
ping your router's IP
let it run for a while, see the response times. are they consistent or do they fluctuate?
stop it by pressing ctrl+c
exit by either closing the window or pressing ctrl+d if your keyboard has it (like hacker's keyboard)
WiFi was really bad this morning. Connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting every 1-2 seconds. So I tried switching to the 2.4ghz channel of my router from the 5ghz and it seems to be stable now. Not sure if my router or phone is the issue.
No issues for me. Using C6833 ftf on C6802

did you ever tryed a custom rom that required to unlock the bootloader? Often had that which a 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 nightly build from CyagenMod after updating.
solution for me: restore TA-Keys and use the repair option in the Update Centre.
stock rom, never rooted, never unlocked bootloader.

Hello Good People,
My device is doing the same thing. I awoke to a device with a drained battery due to the wifi connecting and disconnecting every few seconds.
And other tips?

Have you tried factory reset? Since no one is able to help, I'm guessing that's the logical step.
Yes, I am on Stock ROM, did a reset and still the same thing.
The device connects and disconnects over and over till the phone gets hot, and drains the battery
i guess we have to accept that this is just bad engineering, either software or hardware.
Next phone is not going to be android... already my zu is slowly dying, usb port doesn't connect very well, i have to keep the cable very straight (have tried at least ten cables, it's not a problem with the cable) to have a good connection... and i am sick of firefox losing pages and redownloading them costing me time and money.
So annoying!
Can we all say "planned obsolescence"!

But still the same Wifi issue of connecting and disconnecting constantly, thus making the phone hot and draining the battery ever so quickly!

I think you have bad hardware, have you tried to turn off always scanning?
Yes, "always scanning" is off.
Could be a bum phone!
Sometimes the wifi connects, and its good. Other times it’s a no go.
Any chance of modifying the wifi script?
