[Q] Gmail App - Wildfire Themes and Apps

Man how awkward do I feel about having to post this.
I've searched through various areas of the forums and googled too but I can't get the answer that makes sense to me.
I'm running Joker Droid 4.2 and my Gmail app has gone.
When I look for it via market on the phone it doesn't show in results, just lots of third party add ons etc.
When I enter market on my PC and send it to my device it never arrives.
I'm sorry for the nubish nature of my question but any help would be gtreatfuly received.

Look for GApps. Good luck.

Flash the Gapps package through recovery , you should get many google apps when you reboot , BUT you should wait a while for apps to apper , and to forget to backup before flashing

[Q] Contacts... what the heck happened here???

When I setup my gmail, it brought over ALL my contacts, including the 3K members emails from the Corvette Forum I run. I didn't know that happened until I went to setup my contacts. Plus, there are many repeats, or duplicates.
I couldn't find any way to delete all of them at once as it takes too long to delete one at a time. When that didn't work, I tried deleting one and got this message:
"This contact is read only and cannot be modified."
What the HECK???
How can I delete all my contacts, plus undo the read only crud.
I only want about 20 contacts, no more.
* I did a search and couldn't find anything on my problem for the Streak.
try downloading contact analyzer from the market.

[Q] Contact list sync with Facebook issue

Hi,
I have just rooted my phone today and I started removing the bloatwar. Since I had downloaded Facebook 1.5.2 from the market I thought I wouldn't need the Facebook app that comes with myTouch 4g so I went on to remove it.
This has cause the contact list to lose all the sync with the Facebook, and as I didn't make a backup of the ROM there's nothing I can restore from. I tried downloading the Iced Glacier ROM and grabbed the apk from it but when I tried installing it with the side loader I am getting the "install parse failed no certificates" error.
I am wondering if anyone has a solution to this, like providing the myTouch facebook apk or bypass the certificate error with the apk I got from the ROM. Or if there's a way to sync the contact with the Facebook app directly from the market?
Thanks in advance.
Just download the newest facebook app off the market. When you first open it it will ask if you want to sync contracts. Just did it this morning

That didn't happen to me, I think it's because I removed Facebook for myTouch 4g.

process Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly prompt on Samsung vibrant t959

I recently bought a vibrant from a friend of mine as a spare phone and I rooted it. The wife grabbed the vibrant and used it one day. she was messing around with the ROM toolbox app and then it started force closing. I don't know what she did but every 30 seconds or so it gives a prompt that says, "process Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly". does anyone know what this means, or what I can do to fix it?

As i remember it, it had something to do with contacts sync error. Go to all apps and force stop google framework services and then force stop contacts, gmail and clear data. Do it a couple of times. Reboot and let everything sync again and hopefully it should be ok.

It has something to do with the contacts synching from what i recall.
1. Uninstall the facebook app if you have it installed.
2. Go to app manager: settings>applications>all>contacts storage>clear data
After this you can install the facebook app if it was installed.
I tried both solutions. Its still doing it, just not as often.

You might Also want to clear data from contacts storage after clearing contacts data. It will probably delete all your contacts, sms and call logs so backup etc.
I did a factory reset and force stopped/cleared data on anything that had to do with syncing contacts. I thinks its fixed! I'll post later to make sue though. I don't want to speak too soon. Thanx guys! Your help is greatly appreciated!

...well its at it again. My success was short lived. Could the wife have deleted something that may be causing this?

What rom are you using? Try a no wipe reflash
I didn't even think of flashing a rom. I flashed an ics rom and now it works fine. I'd still like to have a stock vibrant rom on hand just for the heck of it though. I really appreciate everyone's help on this. If anybody knows where I could find a stock t959 from let me know.

if you're on ics now and you want a stock rom you should odin first...you will be on stock 2.1...after that you can use kies mini to update your phone to the latest samsung official firmware which is 2.2
Err never ever use kies under any circumstance. Its a recipe for a brick. Read the sticky in this forum. Plenty of links for roms.

When my phone was doing this, it was not a contacts synch error, but a Calendar synch error. I had to clear my calendar data, export my Google calendar and re-import it, and re-do my Google account login in order to get it to stop. From my investigation, it could be any of the Google synch services.
Do a Google search for the error and one of the first responses will be an XDA thread about how to fix the error.
Thanx, I'm gonna try this tonite.

Contacts

I have my Google/gmail account synced to my N10. Is there a way to view/edit my contacts? I, for the life of me, cannot find a way to see them, other than the fact an individual contact will appear when entering into a new gmail message. This tells me they are on the tablet, just out of sight, apparently.

Use the people app...I have it in AOKP rom

I'm also using aokp, but don't have the people app. Where might I find it? I even searched the Play Store for that before I posted this thread.
Things might be different for you, but when I pull down my toggle bar on the top right corner I can see my username as the first toggle. Clicking on it displays my google contacts and I can edit them as well. This is the case with both my stock 4.2.2 ROM and the AOKP version I use.

Strange. I have my user in there, but no contacts when I click it. I'll have to do some more digging.

What happens when you click on the username? For me, a new window opens with my username in there. As soon as I click on that window my contacts open.

Nothing. It closes the status bar.
You really should have the "people" app. That's the default display name for the icon in your apps list, but it actually loads up an apk called "contacts".
If you don't have this, there could be something wrong with the way GApps are installed on your device. Which GApps package did you install?

I chose through aroma on Mr Robinson's AOKP. Very possible that I missed it. I'll dirty flash tonight.
Edit: I just dirty flashed and made certain that I chose the contacts app in aroma installer. I still do not have the people app. Thinking about a clean flash because it's annoying me.
I've heard of some problems with that new aroma installer. I'm running the same rom, but manually installed all cause I'm still afraid of the installer! No probs here so far, & I run nitro's inverted app package from Eclipse which is still - 2012 something. I just let Play Store update whatever's needed after install or batch restore with TiBu. But that installer I'd bet is the culprit. I think!

Re: Contacts SOLVED
OK. I'm an idiot. If any of you have this problem in the future, I have a fool proof way to fix it:
1. Go into your app drawer and open TiB
2. Scroll through the list until you find the Contacts app.
3. Defrost it, because somewhere along the way it got frozen.
4. Profit.
Thanks to all who tried to help, but you all were wrong and I figured this out all on my own. (Insert sarcasm here).

[Request] Modified AOSP contact app

I have been searching for the past week or so, to no avail, for the AOSP contact app, and possibly phone app also, that is modified to read phone only contacts instead of your Google contacts.
Is there one out there already for 4.2 or is there a way to enable this on my current contact app? I'm going to look with SQLite Editor in a bit to see if there is a modification I can make that will allow it, but if you know how to enable it, know how to edit it in somehow (I don't mind doing it myself), or anything that would be of help please please please post it.
I know I can use a third party so to do this but I would rather not if I can avoid it.
P.S. I'm running VRB 6-12 in case that info helps.

So I'm pretty much an idiot, I tried finding out how to make the contacts app just sync my VCF card...... Anyway my issue was that even though I told Google not to sync ANYTHING it was still syncing contacts, I wiped the, all out and turned everything to do with sync off and imported ,y contacts and everything works!
Sorry for being a schmuck, I'm having a off week.
