I like the speed of the MIUI camera but the quality sucks pretty bad. Can I put the stock camera on MIUI?

Unfortunately, You cannot.
The stock camera relies heavily on TouchWiz.
Does the quality really suck? I was actually planning on grabbing MIUI camera and flash it on to my CM7....then...I came across this thread =[
i been trying to do it but no luck... stock camera has better quality than miui camera
Having the same problem, miui has many options but the quality sucks bad.
I tried re-flash stock rom and backup the camera with titanium then restore it back in Miui but it failed, never finish restore. Guess it's because of Touchwiz that gunm3tal said. If you find any solution please write it here. I actually consider to flash another rom cause of this, although I really like miui !

Hey Guys!
I've tried my best searching the web and xda before making this thread but I really want some opinions here. I've been switching between MIUI and Simple&Clean. I've read stock TW Cam is better quality than MIUI and I felt that too when I was using MIUI.
Funny thing is though, the camera hardware remains the same doesn't it?
So my big question is, if I run MIUI (which supposedly has bad camera quality) and download a good camera app, say ZOOM FX, it should technically work as well as a stock rom's TW camera right? (since it's the same hardware)
Sorry if I'm confusing but I really find this problem weird!

MIUI still doesn't implement good drivers for correct video playback! hence, video stutters...normally 1080p video stutter...! and MIUI camera is also good!
You do mean the still Photo camera and not video right?
I see, but is it the same reason for camera photo quality? That the drivers aren't implemented properly too?
So if the drivers for the camera isn't as good, technically if I'm on MIUI Rom and install Camera Zoom Fx, the quality would still be bad right?

People, I also, go for 3rd party camera apps, they do work good!
Like lgcamera...but i don't really compare the miui camera with stock one! i suffer from placebos
Damn haha, you're exactly like me, I buy a third party app or get influenced by MIUI's camera and think it's not that bad.
Hopefully others can give a more accurate opinion
Hello. Recently I flashed PA ROM,I like it very much.I've been using stock ROMS forever but I got bored and wanted to try something new.My biggest criteria is the camera app, what I've heard that TW has much better quality video and photo compared to AOSP camera.I want to ask your opinions on this, maybe there's a camera app in the Play Store which is better than AOSP one. It's the one thing that keeps me away from AOSP ROMS.Maybe you have some ideas, share.
Since I bought my SGS2, I flashed custom roms specially AOKP.
I didn't feel any difference at all but the last time I was on stock rom, it was gingerbread. So many things changed since then.
You must try it yourself but I'm pretty sure there is no much difference for our phone!:good:

Try Camera Zoom FX app. Its good.
Or you can try Chameleon ROM. :good:
Has anyone tried to use the camera mod and does it work or is it not necessary?
I flashed the Motorola camera. Best one in my opinion. I've flashed the m9, lenovo, Google, and used the camera mod, and nothing beats the quality I'm getting. Also the gallery is the best looking in my opinion
Running Blisspop w/furnace kernel.

Can you only flash the camera mods on aosp rims? Can they work on skydragon?
You're just flashing different apps. It keeps the stock camera as well. At least it did in aosp. The camera mod might work better with sky dragon because it's a stock ROM and it may have kept the laser focus that the asop ROMs lack because of driver issues. You may want to do a little digging on that though I'm not 100%.
Edit.
Search for lg camera mod instead of Motorola camera for lg since the Motorola camera doesn't affect the stock cameras capabilities. They're two different things.
I'm using the M9 camera mod (search Jishnu's Camera Mod) and it works great on 12.1. The only thing that does not work for me on (CyanideL RC10.5) is the Fx editor, but the camera is really nice.
Hi i have on my S4 mini 9195 the CyanogenMod 12.1.
I am looking for the best camera that allows you to take pictures in high resolution and full screen.
Thanks in advance :good:
I assume you mean best camera application, try camera 360 ultimate
Im been using Camera ZOOM Fx for years and still find it a great camera app on my S4 mini.

Using it as well and I am happy with it
Try: Focus or Cyanogenmod camera app, they're pretty similar but I prefer CMcamera.
Open camera is the best by far.
i really like the stock camera. And bec of it i am coming back to stock rom from cm12.1, i really like cm12.1 Rom. i am sometime go for it but come back to stock rom because of camera. Tried alots of cameras some are mentioned here. Which are good but i kinda of not satisfied with them . i wish sometime in future Stock camera come to cm.

Will never happen. As source for this has never been released by Samsung. Has been this way for ALL custom ROMs since ever. The camera is the main reason I keep going back to stock. Focus is horrible on pretty much all custom ROMs. But because of major security flaws in stock OS I'll be switching back to CM.
Maybe auto focus is terrible but manual is damn good for macros. I used to make macros of smartphone motherboards, mostly after water damage to show clients that they phones wasn't stop working just by themselves. I can tell You on stock pictures from my phone was a lot worse than my coworker iPhone 5 and now they are a lot sharper and brighter than on his iPhone. I never tested outside photos on CM but I think it's only matter to feel manual focus.
Snap on CM11
Also using 12.1 on s4 mini, I've tried all cameras but have settled on Snap Camera HDR. Focuses fast and accurately, and doesn't lag. Also works well in lower light.
I just came back from CM 12.1 to CM11 in my S4 Mini Duos and switched to snap Camera HDR. Far better than built in CM11 camera app. The only thing I miss is the capturing with on/off button...
I use A Better Camera
Google Camera is pretty fast.
I've settled on A Better Camera (running on CM12.1) as I like layout etc., admittedly auto focus is not as good as CM app in some lighting conditions but a quick tap on the screen and it will focus perfectly.
Try the Ucamera application.
It is very good and it has many effects. It s available on play store
Google Camera is a pretty good choice.
It is not so simple. You can not have the same quality stock cam because any cam app is working with generic drivers in CMs or any other ROM CM based . For the same reason , the audio (mostly capture) also will never have the same quality.
It is a price to pay: Camera and audio quality worse.
Some apps can even do a good job, but difficult to achieve equal quality.
Until the other day I used CM13 and even liked, but needed quality to scan a document on an emergency. I had to restore Stock Backup. I lost the desire to again change the ROM and stayed in Stock. Unfortunately it is a reality.
Some apps can even do a good job, but difficult to achieve equal quality.
One consolation is to use some Xposed Modules and other tools that make Stock ROM ... Less outdated, I would say.

very true. most of the time i go back to stock jelly bean. No kitkat update for i9190
I have Camera Next, CM12.1. My favorite camera app. But it works fine in CM13?
Hi all,
Since December I'm using a Redmi Note 2 Prime. I like the phone, but not a fan of Miui.
I tried one of the CM roms on here a few months ago, which was a big improvement in user experience for me. Only the poor image quality and slow focus speed was a big let down.
Is there any non-miui rom out there that equals the stock miui camera's image quality and focus speed?
Try the AOSP from vova.vafin. It is based on AOSP and has the Mediatek Camera so you won't lose any photo quality..

The photo quality will be the same, BUT You lose PDAF focus..
@tonydeli7; thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look at the thread.
@galakty; hmm.. that's a shame. I really love the near-instant focus, crucial to capture my 2- and 4-year-old.
You can try MultiRom or Xiaomi.eu or Smiui(based on xiaomi.eu with a few tweaks)
All customs ROMs based on MIUI Stable/Developer but without Chinese bloat...and the same quality camera as stock!

Hi Tony, already running xiaomi.eu from day 1, but do not enjoy using Miui one bit.
Still can't find anything in the Settings menu. (Rant on: Why the h×ll are half the SIM settings hidden away under 'Privacy' in 'Additional Settings'? Why are the most used settings hidden under 'Additional Settings' as well? Why is Wireless Display' hidden under 'More' in ' Network', instead of 'Display'? Why do the pull-down notifications and power toggles take up 2 full HD screens, and still need scrolling to reach all toggles? Why can't I delete never used toggles? Rant off)
The list goes on, but generally I need to swipe & tap twice as much to get things done compared to Aosp or Cm.
The CM roms haven't made any progress regarding camera, and probably won't for the forseable future. I had a go at sMiui yesterday, but despite trimming most unused Miui stuff it used an extra 250MB compared to regular Miui (might be an error on my side though). Will try vova.vafin's Aosp rom tonight. See how I like the camera and overall user experience/stability.
I can say I'm on the same boat because I prefer AOSP..but until Xiaomi releases the kernel source,we will not have one that works like on Nexus phones. There is a trick to run the original android settings but they don't fully work :/
The ROM from vova.vafin is AOSP based on CM I think but he uses libraries from the MIUI for the camera. And also he is not using the stock camera but a camera named Mediatek Camera that is specially made for phones/tablets running MTK processors. I used it for one day just to test, the battery was almost close to stock and I didn't notice any change in camera quality. You might give it a try
Yeah, running the rom since early this evening, just doing the final tweaks in gravity box. So far it's looking good.
i've tried many roms, camera quality almost the same at all roms

I agree. Rom with best camera quality, except of course miui, right now, is vova's.
The BEST camera for sure.
Is this possible to port it at bules rom? Or just extract it and make it work somewhere else????
miui 6.4.14 with better camera
Miui of course has the best camera. We talk for custom roms here....
