Hey guys new around here and have a few questions.
I've flashed my phone and rooted it successfully with xrecovery on it.
I've used a few firmwares -
Cyanogen6.1.3_v01 (CM-updated)
FreeX10 Froyo 2.2.1 ROM
(I had to re flashed because my contacts are backed up on the stocked b&r for Xperia)
Anyways wondering which Firmware you guys would recommended or suggest for me. What stands out more or has more stability than the other?
Also I have at&t unfortunately and its an At&t Xperia X10a , but wondering do i need to configure anything else for cellphone company meanign the network or anything? I mean i can text and surf the web fine and make calls when I place the firmware CYan or Free.
Thanks if you can help or not help aha
Why don't you use Google to sync your contacts.. then you can use whichever rom u want and sync them from gmail

that or use an app like "my backup root" to backup your contacts, sms's, calendar, etc.
the stock contacts tool can export to a .pim file which can be imported into any contacts tool on any rom too, just so you know
I knew how to sync, i didn't know at the time aha. Its fine with contacts im good with it no trouble. back to the main question of which firmware aka rom is of good use?
theyre both stable.
however if im correct. cyno doesnt have cam or camcorder.
and freex10 has cam and u can use videocam illusion for camcorder
i use beta3.
and refuse to use beta4 as it wasnt as good as beta3 for me.
so its really up to you which is best for you.
everyone has their preferences.
their both stable enough for everyday use.
I have just recently rooted my phone and now I can't receive or send text messages. I was wondering if there was an app that I may have removed on accident. I still can receive phone calls tho. Thank you for any information.
What else did you do besides rooting? As far as I know just rooting will not break MMS or SMS.
What method did you use to root? If anything I would say your radio is wrong but we would need to know more information.
I tried to put Froyo on the phone but failed at it twice, so I decide to restore to factory settings and just root with FascinateRoot_v02. Installed Titanium Backup, SetCPU, Root Explorer. Went through Titanium Backup and removed the Verizon Apps like Music, Video, Nav, etc. and some other bloat ware.
When you say "went back to factory" how did you go about doing that?
I used this to go to Froyo the first time, there is one that is just the leaked version a clean version and all of the SuperClean roms.

It's possible you deleted something when deleting the bloatware that you needed. I would suggest going back to stock using the stock odin files. Which is here I think, I have the files saved to my computer now.

Since you are using TB I would freeze apps before you remove them completely so you can be sure they wont mess up your need to have apps
make sure there is no +1 in the number you are texting... as in +1-999-999-999
@Roblovesbox
Thank you, texting is working again.
Also I was wondering what would be an easy ROM to install that is Froyo?
The first link has Odin files of the superclean Rom. Or if you are familiar with clockwork you get the zip file from the superclean thread in the development section of the fascinate forums.

Would removing 3G Mobile Hot spot, All Share, Car Cradle, and News & Weather effect my texting ability?
No.
There is a post somewhere either here or on android forums that has a list of the apps you can safely remove from your phone. Ill see if I can find it.

hey everybody i have a real noob question and i have no idea on how to go on about it so if i could any tips or help it would be great.
i have a vibrant but im switching over to hd2 now i want to know how to get all my stuff off my vibrant to my hd2 ?
like my contacts messages etc etc pictures.
it would be great help if somebody can let me know
thanks alot
The easiest one is the contacts. You should save all your contacts to your gmail so when you sign in on the new phone BOOM! all your contacts are there waiting for you.
The messages can be backed up using any app off the market. Of course you will have to find the file on your internalSD and move it to the new phone then install that same app and restore using it.
Same for pictures and everything else you'll need to move them manually from one phone to the other. Good luck!

and what about all my super nice apps that i got for free using illegal ways that i will not i repeat will not want to give up and must have them?
I flashed my first ROM yesterday; JellyBam 5.
I was a bit hesitant though worked out ok I guess, apart from a fc due to trying to instal my email backup from TB, I googled a fix for the fc issue, then realised that also my contacts & calendar won't instal from TB backup, I assume this is cause I've gone from 2.3.5 to 4.2.1??
Also, apart from calendar, email and contacts, I've had random apps not work, either won't instal or simply fc.. what's up? and can it be fixed? how? compatibility issue?
In this case what's the best way to backup to ensure cross ROM compatibility of calendar entries, email accounts & contacts data...
I guess Google account right, but I've never been able to get mine to sync, so I'm asking for suggestions/advice other than using Google sync.
Thanks

You can't restore System Apps, because they definitly won't work if you change your rom, and it sounds like you did. You haven't got a Google back up? Maybe try to restore your Nandroid back up and sync them, or somebody must have a better sollution..

I understand about system apps, though the apps I've had problems with were just normal (non system) apps.
I'm pretty shocked my email accounts, contacts and calendar won't restore (It'll take ages to do all manually); I will either revert back to my original ROM unless someone can advise more ?

Hey guys. I ve been using android since the dark ages of Donut and Gingerbread... But have never backed up so that I can restore from Google servers.
I ve been hearing stories about people getting all the apps back on the new phone, exactly like they were on the old one.
As I am changing phones a lot, especially S6, which I am.trying different colors of regular and edge, just wanted to ask how exactly do I do the backup and restore?
I mean, if I check Automatically backup to Google servers, How do I know when the backup is finished? How do I restore everything on the new phone? Will it backup my settings too? I dont need to backup pics or music, just the damned settings and app data, so that I dont have to setup manually each time.
You know what I mean, I am sure...
Thank you for the advice..
