Hello
I see a 2.1 thread but not a 2.2 Is there anyway to update (even if it is custom) the X10 Mini to Android 2.2? Thanks.
Maybe wait for the Official Android 2.1 to come out first?
No news of 2.2 as of 12-oct-2010

Well as you, I, and most others know, 2.1 wont come in a long time despite what OEMs say. Same thing happens always.

Unfortunately, we dont have custom ROM for X10.. We are still trying to crack the bootloader..
We'll wait ... really need iptables.
But do you think that it will be able to update to 2.2?
It'll really nice if it will be possible, because if we can have the programs on sdcard we can multiply our capacity...
2.1 custom ROM is ready for X10 (only video playback not working) & 2.2 ROM is also partially ready except a few glitches which will hopefully be sorted out in this thread. So we the Mini / Pro /x8 users may expect a 2.2 ROM in future. Moreover. Bin4ry is pretty active in "Custom ROM dev" in x10 forum. He may use his expertise to build a 2.2 ROM for our Minis provided the project is successful for x10 and Bin4ry gets adequate time.
Thanks and hope for the best to happen soon.
wud love to run 2.2 on mini

We can already do that.
Mine has app2sd working on 1.6.

Now that a vanilla 2.1 ROM is available (but with bugs) for the x10, maybe someone can port it for the mini/mini pro?
What I want in a custom rom is;
A widget screen that can handle more than one widget per page.
A aGPS method that can get a fix in less than 10 minutes. (get time fix, use DL data, done in <30 secs)
Multi-touch gestures. (like pinch zoom)
Gesture actions, (like turn phone over to reject call!)
If SE wants to keep all the mini people on SE's experience then they better get cracking. Already dumped timescape and roadsync, whats next?
Netfilter support so we can tether
A widget screen that can handle more than one widget per page.

Your GPS takes 10 minutes to lock? You'll get lost on the road man! Mine takes less than a minute + offline maps that instantly plots your location once you get a lock.

Multitouch will be included on an upcoming OTA update:
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/produ...-for-xperia-x10/comment-page-1/#comment-89746
dunno if the minis are included.
IMO, the best thing we need for a custom ROM is freedom from bloatware and hardware lockups by SE thus giving us a real performance boost.

Sounds good. The 2.1 update was alright, it made my x10mini last a bit longer(it seems), but i would really like some speed optimizations which supposedly are in 2.2 among some even better batt. life
Cheers on all the work you guys are doing

you could try gingerDx aswell! it really works great with minimal bugs, or better lags if you want to call it like this.
I wouldn't flash the official CM yet!it is still too buggy.

I dont think thats the best one...
I tried it and camera not working youtube not working , market not working....etc
The only thing i liked about that is multi-touch only...
I think official android 2.1 is better than MiniCM7
I think ginger dx and flame e and mini cm7 are better than stock rom. I don't have any bugs on these.

its so hard to decide as alot of ppl say that one is best or another one, like this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301684 says Gintonic is best
For Mini Pro, absoultely GinTonic right now, but some minor issue like G-sensor is still there, not a biggie.
Generally GingerDX based ROM is safe enough to be called stable on its base function.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201116
I am using this and looks like this is really stable
Gintonic is very stable
Gintonic is very stable
few minor issues like 3 MP camera and some signal perturbation for the wifi and network
but all in all Excellent job for Slade 87!

Maybe we should propose a system to create a matrix for each ROM of what features works great, ok, buggy, not.
I think this could be better to select a ROM because: It is quite difficult to select one (and I'am too lazy too try all them)
I have used these since early september. GinTonic --> GingerDX --> Flame.E --> GinTonic again.
Everyone of these is great in my opinion, went back to GinTonic today and the last version is really great.
And i havent got any FC since i switched from stock kernel to Zombie Panic, slade87 have done a really fantastic work, both with kernel and rom.
Of course all the other devs is great too, without all you devs my Mini Pro would be very boring, but it feels that i got a new phone every time i upgrade/change ROM/kernel.
GingerDX or any other ROM/port by Stelios97.
Having said that, there's nothing wrong with SE's official 2.1 ROM either.
I used gintonic in the past, it was pretty good, then I changed to minicm7 pro v16 and was pretty happy with it for a couple of weeks until the new version (v17) was released.
So far it's pretty stable, the battery lasts a bit more than a day with light wifi usage and lots of sms's. The only thing that doesn't work is the radio, but besides that it's quite stable so far.
So Guys, i want to install an ICS Rom.
But, i dont know which....

Which one Is better?
Fast, Battery life and Nice? D:
I have only tried the official ICS beta (basically krabappel's rom), and I'm very satisfied with it.. Better battery life than on gingerbread and quite fast too.. I do get some redraw for the launcher (using sslauncher).
As I said, it I can't compare it to aosp ics rom.
AOSP ICS
Hey, I am using the ASOP ICS rom on my Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo.
I recently noticed that when I called someone, I was unable to end the call using the 'End Call' icon.
I just wanted to know whether you have experienced the same problem and how this bug could be fixed?
Thanks!

And aosp rom didn't have animation bug with oc kernel...only can't watch video...

Every rom is different and suits differently to every user depending on the use you give to your device. That question is very subjective: what is better for you may be no better for me ... Also I dont see any advantage of this kind of comparative threads. Please search and read, your answer is already posted ....
Ok dudes, Sony announced that the ICS upgrade may not be a good idea regarding device performance.
I know that I will not update my phone, since I don't see any use for it. Already tried ICS on transformer, and didn't see much reason to risk any performance issues.
Feel free to write your own opinion.
I don't mind the thing regarding device performance or its effect on the battery since I do not use the phone for gaming or something; just browsing/sms/calls/music/videos&photo and it lasts 24hours or more *am currently satisfied and using stock with no tweaks*. I like to try something new
i will try ICS
I will surely update to ICS as the web browsing is better in it and i mainly use it for calling and browsing
Performance issues are made up by sony. the miniCMsandwhich by Kamarush is running really well, everything is buttery smooth. and battery is really ok, too.
so if sony would put some serious effort into ICS, I'm sure they could make it run, I think they just look for an excuse to sell new phones and not put any effort in old phones.
although it doesn't look like sony will make a new keyboard-phone, at least i haven't read about any.

am using mini pro buddy but my battery doesnt last upto dat... if i should browse heavily on it, it wont last up 4-5hours!!! but music playing is ok. sometimes my battery drops without usage.
am gonna update for sure... love ICS!
Sure gonna try it.... But can anyone tell if sony releases official ics..... Then our devs will be abe to solve most of the present bugs ?!

It does not mean that sony has excellent or worse devs, they have to integrate other things like their xperia facebook sharing and other stuffs possibly including another new drm feature *yes it is minor* but they also have to ensure that it will be stable and good on our phone; remember ICS was built and designed for a powerful phone so it will take a while to port it to our phones; i.e. bugfree, stable and easy on battery.
There is already a thread with the same type of discussion...
As I said on that particular thread, all current ICS users (kamarush,exMIUI,CM9), what is your battery drain %/hour? Because mine with Spartan Rom is around 0,5%/hour with 2g only active, and in deep sleep mode.
IF Sony's 4.0 manages to have that sort of battery drain I will update. Until then, GB is more than enough for me.

I just heard that the official ICS update is postponed again, mid april for the first few 2011 xperias, mini and mini pro coming later, like end of may to mid june:
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2012/03/30/the-vans-around-the-corner-android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-software-upgrade-coming-to-2011-xperia-smartphones-starting-from-mid-april/
I can see it's tough to put all those things in a ROM, and I agree on the longer testing period. At least Sony does release updates, we should be happy we don't have a SGS
mid Aprils is NOW!
Haven't seen anything about a released version for the Arc S yet, but it should be just around the corner. Let's see if Sony keeps the revised schedule.
I will update my SK17i as soon as there is a final ICS available. Let's see if it will be CM or Sony ;-)
Tested CM9 (RC0, 115) already and it looks promising. The BT media issue made me switch back to stock for now.

if Sony dont want to update to ICS our xperia 2011 for low end device such as xperia mini/pro, live for walkman etc. Why dont they just make it open source for our device just like beta for Play or Ray? They afraid they will lost customer but they already lost many customer. Thats why they use promotion for new device but same performance. Stupid strategies.
Xperia Mini and others are not low-end devices. First, specs are higher than some devices. Second, these phones are inside same as Arc, Ray, Neo. Chipset is the same. That means if ray gets ICS, then others can have it also.

ok, here goes. I've got an ST15i (Xperia Mini) that I've unlocked using the test point method with presently the kamarush's KRsH Kernel v3.0 ICS kernel (+ WiFi Modules) but planning on moving to the expeacer EXtended Stock Kernel.
my question is, is there some way to use/enable FM radio without plugging in earphones/headphones etc.? I know the headphone/earphone wire acts as antenna but there must surely be a workaround, right? I mean there are hundreds (thousands?) of cheap chinese phones that all allow FM radio playback without plugging in a set of head/ear phones

Don't change to Extended stock kernel.. KRsH Kernel is much better.. Even w.r.t. battery life..
I would recommend FXP CM9 or CM10 btw
Iam pretty sure that phones have build in antenna. So i thing is impossible on our not ready phones

I was thinking of asking this very same question next, i.e., which of these two kernels gives best battery life. You just answered an unasked question! Thank you!
Also been thinking of flashing a ROM. CM9 is still RC. Is it good/stable? Had been thinking of RealICS 5.1 or even 4.1 (as some people have issues with 5.1)
Hi
perhaps radio could work with a simple jack and an antenna-looking stiff wire connected?

Haha np
And FXP CM9 or KRsH CM9 are the two CM9 ROMS I've tried and both are stable.. But, FXP CM9 is better.. It has more modding options..
Why not try FXP 132 CM10? It's also very stable and quick... And a lot of the bugs in 131 are eliminated in 132..
But if you still want CM9, then I would recommend FXP CM9 ....

Thanks a lot! Might as well try them all, one by one, right? Some people say go for RealICS cuz CM9 has more bugs, others (like you) say the exact opposite. Now that I have finally unlocked the bootloader, might slowly start getting more and more adventurous over the next few weeks (only had the phone for like two months now - purchased new sans warranty).
Off topic, my almost 3-year-old daughter loves the phone, loves talking tom cat, ben dog, doing jigsaw puzzles and coloring on the phone

Well, in that case you would have to try yourself
I still standby the ROMs I've suggested BTW
And yes, explore the modding world, but be smart and careful when trying new stuff.. And always have a backup ready before trying something you've not tried before or/and something that you aren't sure about..
And no matter how careful you are, you are bound to have some problems or the other, but in that process you learn a lot.
