I just installed JT's CM7 TEST 3 ROM. Now I can't connect to WPA/2 access points. Any ideas?
What kind of problem are you seeing?
Do you not see any WAP's? Or can you see them and not connect to them?
Did you enter them manually after wiping/flashing or did you use TiBu to add them in? Can you connect to your Mobile Data service fine still?
I'm on the same build CM7 and I have no issues connecting with my network at home, which is WPA2.
It ended up being the AP that was the problem. I'd had this issue on my Nook Color running CM though, so I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the device or the AP. I've flashed several ROMs in the past, and this was my first post so I wasn't rushing to post the first problem I had...I was legitimately stuck, just turned out it wasn't stuck with Android, rather with Linksys Thanks guys!
OK, went from CM7 to Unnamed 1.04 because I was told the wireless access point actually worked. I do a wipe of data/sysyem/sdcard and install it. No problems so far. System reboots, and, I can see my wifi connection (which is sitting right beside me). I connect to it, and it gives me an IP address. Then I see Scanning... in the wifi section. And it scans then stops then starts to scan again. I get little to no internet access... Help?

This won't be much help to you, but I flashed unnamed 1.04 earlier today and got a good wifi connections instantly. All I can say is go through your wifi trouble shooting steps for your phone and router.

I updated from froyo geewiz kernel and powerwashed rom to EH03. Now my wifi just scans, says connecting, then disconnected.
First I tried Geewiz 2.4.2 EH03. When the Wifi problem followed I odined Nitsuj17's stock EH03. When again the wifi wouldn't work I Odined CWM and Nitsuj17's Superclean3 Milestone1 EH03. Still the Wifi just scans, says connecting, then disconnected. I could be right next to the router with full strength. The WEP password seems to be accepted and tries to connect but then just says disconnected.
Anyone have any Ideas?
Have you first tried to connect to a wifi base station that is completely open, with no password? Just to see if your wifi is completely shot?
Connected to neighbor's open wifi. Won't connect to mine no matter how many times I put in password.
I'm probably giving you advice you already know, but have you tried changing the WPA encryption scheme, changing the password, etc..... The OG droid had various issues with particular wifi settings, but the fascinate never has. but you never know...
What about mac filter, does your router have one and if so is it running? Your problem sounds exactly like what people complain to me about when they can't connect to my router but have entered password - I have to manually add them. Its a great feature for a little extra security.
Thanks everyone. After twice flashing stock Verizon eh03, bricking my phone, and 3 different cool roms all failing to connect to my wep secured router, the easiest (and most idiotic for my missing this) solution worked. I reset the router with the little red reset button on back of the verizon fios router and instantly my stock eho3 connected using the password i had imputed before and remembered. Recent power outages is all I can think of for why this happened.
Then flashed CWM Blue from TSM Resurrection 2.0 post, then flashed tsm Resurrection 2.0 and all is well. Love the new rom, Highly praised by me.
Thanks everyone. This community's' willingness to take time out and help a total stranger amazes me every time. You tech guys are great.
Hi All
Having a spot of bother tonight
Randomly my SG2 could not access the internet through my router.
It sees my router, no problem there. I can switch off wifi and get online with my data but not through wifi.
I had been using it all day but it just randomly stopped tonight and my router is working perfectly as my laptop and other phone is connected.
I have restored 3 different Roms which were up to two weeks old in some cases. Also flashed 3 kernels and 3-4 modems
On ICS Stock rooted LP7 with CF root LP7 kernel
Not sure what else to try so any help would be appreciated
I have searched and tried everything I can so if you can help, thank you.
Search in original android development in checkrom thread, 2 days ago somebody put a zip file to fix wi fi issue, like yours. It's called Wi Fi fix. Search and you'll find

Thanks Gregory
I tried it, but unfortunately it didnt work for me but I appreciate your help.
after flashing it, I couldnt even turn on wifi at the toggles or menu so I am doing a restore now and hopefully it will work.
I am not sure if doing a complete restore to stock firmware again will work.
Really dont know how this wifi issue so randomly appeared
Was your phone getting a DHCP address from the router or not ? on ICS, that happens when you get the popup message "Connected to XXXX".

Hi Vaxxi
If I dont understand what you are asking correctly, sorry.
the phone is receiving an I.P., gateway, dns, etc. each time I log on.
I can see that wifi connectivity is active but nothing is working despite clearing caches, doing restores, etc.
the problem started randomly
Yes, I was asking if it gets an IP through DHCP. Sometimes it gets stuck and you have to remove a file manually in order to refresh the IP address, but your problem seems to be somewhere else. Can you ping your phone from the router after it gets an IP address ?

thanks for your help Vaxxi
I cant get near my router tonight unfortunately
I can 'see' it through 'Fing' app but if I try to use speedtest.net app to see if I have data, I get nothing.
I think I will try another stock flash again with LP7 stock, but I doubt it will work.

Note: Fixed.
I did all the above to no avail.
Ended up reflashing the router firmware, not sure if this directly helped but upon reboot, my phone connected as usual but now had internet access again.
Strange as prior to flashing the firmware everything except my phone could avail of net access.
Thanks to each of you that helped.
im having the exact same issue. I have reflashed router firmware also but still nothing. Wifi symbol is there but not blue (cm9) data works perfect. Im also starting to wonder if its my router.
I have tried wiping all settings etc. Um currently downloading latest nightly so hopefully that does the trick!!
I have just flashed the following rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692201. This is a WIFI ONLY device, no network operators or anything like that...
The flashing process went smoothly and all seems well, except that when I connect to a wireless access point, I don't get an internet connection. It connects to the wifi ok, but no internet.
If I go back to my nandroid backup the internet works fine. There aren't any posts in the rom thread about this issue so I suppose it must be an issue with my device rather than the rom. I assumed flashing the rom would change all my settings to those of the rom, so I don't understand how this can be so.
Any thoughts??

I'm the developer for this rom and I've never heard of any issues like this before. Do you have a player 5 or player 4? Does everything else work fine? It might be worth doing a wiping data, cache and dalvik cache and then re-flashing the rom.

Hi Supermaster34, thanks for the reply, yes, I have spent a fair amount of time reading through your thread and came to the conclusion that this was an as yet unseen problem.
I have a player 5 international. I have reset and wiped everything there is to reset and wipe and I have reinstalled after trying this too.
Before flashing your rom I was/am using eryigits gingerbread rom and I replaced the wpa_supplicant file so that I could access ad hoc networks. I don't know whether this could be relevant or not.. I would have thought that flashing would replace that sort of thing anyway but I thought I'd mention it just in case something not flashed is affected by doing that.
Hope you have some cunning ideas....

I also have a player 5 international and I can't seem to recreate the problem. Maybe the issue is with your player but I doubt it. Try flashing my CM9 rom (link is in my signature) to see if wifi works with that. The wpa_supplicant you replaced would have been replaced with the ICS one upon installation. If you downloaded the rom from the team remics website then the download may have become corrupted for some reason. It might be worth re-downloading and flashing again.

Ok, I'll try re-downloading and I'll also try the CM9 rom... I'll do that tomorrow and then post back here when I find out what happens...
Until tomorrow then..........
Ok, I've tried your CM9 rom and it's the same.. It connects to wifi but there is no internet
Trying the freshly downloaded remics rom now...
No joy...It's the same
What could it be? It must be something on my player that doesn't get flashed (on the internal sd card maybe?) which interferes with the newly flashed files regarding internet... right???
Oh, when I go to wipe dalvik cache I get 'E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]' Then I click 'yes - wipe' and it says it is wiped. Is that normal?
restoring my nandroid backup........ and........
Yep, internet is usable again....
What's going on?
I have now also tried with this cm9 rom : Paranoid Android
and I get the same result!!!
Someone else in that thread seemed to have the same problem but no-one replied to his message.
So it's not your roms Supermaster34. It could be cm9 or maybe ics itself, but what is different with my player compared to the hundreds of other people who don't seem to be having any problems?
Formatted internal sdcard and still no joy.....
could it be something to do with the router or encryption being used (I'm on a work network so god knows what's going on at that end of things)? gingerbread can connect through it but cm9 can't? I need to try another wireless access point...
when i had cm9, i only could get internet on my home network, which was secured.
at school, it didnt work on their unsecured network

I think it is far more likely to be a network thing.. Something about my work network and your school network has a quirk that cm9 doesn't know how to deal with. My work network is secured with wpa2, so it probably isn't an encryption issue.
We also have an access point secured with wep which I'll try out tomorrow (same internet coming through it though)..
I'll also try cm7 and see if that connects and I think I'll try flashing a fresh gingerbread as well which should work seeing as my nandroid backup works (just to check it isn't a flashing issue or something).
Next week I'll have access to another access point with a different internet connection (which I'm actually in control of myself), I'll try that one out too...
My oh my, so much to do..............
I dont thing it has anything to do with rom..i have similar problem on another device ..my mein internet is over 3G (HSPA+ i have unlimited data) so i use tehtering on android phone to give internet to my other devices, and it works fine for SGP 5.0 ,laptop ,pc and S7 tablet..they all see conection and internet works..BUT i bought nexus 7 and on my huge disapoinment it could not connect to internet on same connection (and i dont have other) ,consider nexus 7 is wifi only i did not what to do,it sees connection but no internet, then i try different roms all the same no internet.
So i connect laptop via usb tehtering to android phone and via program called connectify create infrastructure hot spot on laptop and then nexus 7 net works ,but my laptop must be on.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Well, I tried flashing a fresh gingerbread and internet works fine (as it does on my gingerbread nandroid backup)... So it isn't a flashing issue
I also flashed CM7 and internet works fine....
So it seems this issue is a CM9 issue (as it appears on all variants of CM9 that I can find).
From all the evidence, it seems to me that there is something about the internet connection at my work that CM9 cannot deal with. It is not a wifi issue as such, as I can connect to wifi, I just get no internet connection.
I haven't actually checked to see whether I am able to connect to a different internet connection elsewhere, I'm assuming I will be able to as hundreds of others seem to be having no problem at all with CM9. I'll test this next week when I have access to another connection.
I work at a school, so just as iurnait a couple of posts back, it is a school network that is giving me problems and school networks can have all sorts of quirky filters etc attached to them to 'protect' the students from who knows what. For example I know that some websites are blocked by open DNS on my work network - is there an issue with CM9 and this sort of filtering?? I have no idea what else there is on the network here as the network admin is rather unfriendly and unhelpful.
DZonikg: it seems that your problem may be different, as mine is rom dependent and yours isn't.
It's a shame as I was really looking forward to my Ice cream sandwich!!
maybe this is related to the brand of router used?
it seems like some unsecured locations work while others dont. i was at a supermarket and i connected fine but i couldnt get it to connect at another place.
Mmmm-) what brand of router is at your school? i have netgear at home and i can connect.
or it may do with the channel of the router. i dont have cm9 on my device but try using WiFi Analyzer (Play Store) to see what channel your connection is.
I had this issue with both paranoid and supermasters cm9 Rom.
Actually I sent you a pm supermaster back in sept about this issue. The device would connect and the wifi icon would show the bars but they would be greyed out.
Since I don't have the post count to post in the dev thread I kept checking back on the threads to see if anyone one mentioned it but the guy in the paranoid thread got ignored and that thread seems dead. And no one mentioned it in supers CM9 thread. So I just said fug it and slapped on my stock ROM.
Hang on a minute...... I've got internet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever happened???
I was trying to update my media library but apparently you cant with ICS and so i had to 'clear data' in the media storage app so I did this and rebooted... and as if by magic I was connected to the internet. When I rebooted I was already connected to wifi (but obviously with no internet connection).
Since then I've got everything set up and done a nandroid backup rebooting again and I still have the internet.
I really don't get how doing this would have solved the problem...but something has solved it... Maybe something changed on the network...who knows....??
Im away from work for a week from tomorrow, so I won't know if it is still working until then.... I'll tell you if I can still connect in a week....
Try McDonald's a dunkin donuts if you live near one. They have free wifi if you want to test it out. If you saying is working I'll give it another shot.

I had a good connection for a couple of hours and then it just stopped! I cleared the media storage app again and rebooted and I have internet again!!!
I still can't believe it can be a fix - it must be an odd coincidence... If it works one more time I'll believe it...
Well it happened again but I'm afraid to say that no matter what I did I couldn't get the internet to connect again, so it must just have been a coincidence...
The good news is that I am now connected to the internet on another connection (far away from work) and have had no difficulties whatsoever. So I'm certain that it is some quirk with my work network. Although the fact that I can connect to it with gingerbread suggests that rather than it being a network problem, it is an incompatibility with ics or cm9. Can someone fix it please?
One quirk of CM9 on Galaxy Players is that it has MUCH poorer wifi reception than Gingerbread. If your wifi connection was at all weak, you'll get connection issues with CM9.

I don't get Wi-Fi connection issues at all,I just get internet connection issues. The signal is fine and it connects to the wap with no problems at all.
