Alright, it needs no introduction,
Preview incase you need one
Credits go to azrienoch and xdadevelopers for the concept.
Took me a lot of time to get a proper combination to work out file sizes and quality.
I have added Standard Quality and High Quality zips.
You need to have 41MB and 64MB free space in system/media for SQ and HQ respectively.
It includes the sound and it goes off as soon as the phone is ready to boot.
The Animation stops as soon as your phone is booted (when it starts preparing The SD if i noticed correctly) so do not worry, this will just keep you entertained until the phone is ready
It is for Tenfar's cwm recovery on unlocked Moto Atrix 4G.
It has been tested on my phone.
atrix_bootanimation_xdanoobHQ_cwm Low to Moderate Pixellation noticeable
atrix_bootanimation_xdanoobSQ_cwm Moderate to High Pixellation noticeable
FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPACE (Skip to the end for file)
1. Unpack the zip and get bootanimation.zip from /system/media/ and xdanoobmono.mp3 from system/media/audio/notifications/
2. Unzip bootanimation.zip and you will get a folder part0 which contains all .jpg
3. Time your boot time with current bootanimation or even without any..(from just after dual core tech logo till you see home screen)
4.check that much time on the youTube video.. and delete frames beyond a few seconds after that.. (if it takes you 30sec to boot then check wat frame does video show at 32-35sec...)
5. After deleting excess .jps from part0, select part0 folder and desc.txt. Add them to a zip with compression = Store (without any compression)
Note:- Common mistake is to zip the folder that contains these 2 items.
6. Copy this bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ and xdanoobmono.mp3 to system/media/audio/notifications/ on your Moto Atrix 4G
7. Fix Permissions (manually or via cwm recovery > advanced > Fix Permissions)
8. Profit!!

HQ Stripped version for members with space constraint...
atrix_bootanimation_xdanoobHQSTripped_cwm
This has been stripped to ~0:50 with respect to video timeline... Most people will be booted to home much before that.
OR follow above process to get any lower size.
This method can also be used by those who do not have any space issues..
It basically gives you the animation only uptil you require it and the excess is stripped off..!!
PS: Sorry could not upload to mediafire this time, im getting error 501 on mediafire.
This is a great idea for a boot animation!

but some how the audio level is very low for bootanimations.
i still increased it by 10dB in this one.
will try more personally but did not want to crack speakers of other members

If you go too high you will induce clipping, so be careful, or you could get crappy audio, and/or damage speakers with it.
Not working for me. Apparently I only have 42MB left in /system, and I just did a clean install of Aura 1.0.2, so it's not like I have filled it with junk.
Never seen this before. From what I see /system only has 300MB available total.
Anyone else have this or know a way around it?

see if you can get it to work by deleting unnecessary audio files from system/media/audio/ subfolders...

Might work. The creator of Aura added in a bunch of audio files. I'll give it a try.
Cheers!
<edit> Moving all ringtones only freed up 6 MB.
<edit 2> How is Alien working out for you. There still appeared to be quite a few bugs from reading the thread. That's why I haven't flashed it yet. KP's work is always good.

flashed alien #2 yesterday.
I like the green theme...
Have not encountered any bugs as of yet.
even with 6MB more you should be able to use the SQ version.
Try to delete unnecessary apks from system apps..
Alien is without any bloat by default.
EDIT:
unpack and delete jpegs beyond 00700.jpg
will save you 30+MB
The boot process on mine is not exceeding 600.jpg.
OR, time your boot time (just after dual core tech logo till you see home screen)
check that much time n the youTube video.. and delete frames beyond a few seconds after that..
shall give you best and most efficient
I'm sure you know how to pack it back and sign
For others, you can follow the same process and just replace bootanimation.zip and add sound to system/media/audio/notification.
Do not forget to fix permission either manually or via cwm.
Adding these instruction to the OP for all
EDIT2:
Added Stripped HQ version - 33.5MB

your battery would probably die half way through a 10 second rendering... I'm sure they limited it for a reason.
But yeah, the apk would have to be modified for that... since the source isn't available, it'd be really tough/impossible to change it.
I'm sure the Vibrant has enough power to edit HD video if the iPhone can do it, nice find btw!

It force closes on my 720p movies. I'm sure that our phones can edit HD video, we just need an editor optimized for our GPU.

nice, i'm gonna have to give this a whirl
This is great, exactly what I wanted.... But there is an issue that is preventing me from using it.... Once its open it closes after 30 seconds maybe 1 minute... Not force close just closes while trying to use it...

The more I use it, the more stable it is becoming.
I think the app needed to build thumbnails of my media and was crashing while doing so. Now that all the thumbnails are created, it seems mostly content.
I was able to stitch together 5 clips and save as a single video. Pretty cool!

Atk is redundent if you supercharge/bulletproof your rom. Try a reflash. Full wipe and dalvik .

Edit: what governor are you using?
Tell me how to find out what governor i'm using and i'll tell ya, haha
If you're using SetCPU or CPUBoost there should be an option to change the governor, and it should display which governor is currently being used.
I don't use those applications because i have tried on different occasions and it never fails that they crash my phone, so i'm unsure.
Quick question, is it okay to have multiple ROM zips on my sd card or should i keep only one at a time. ( I only have one right now but i plan on trying new ones out and didnt know if i should delete old ones?
I initially had this same issue on GB ROMs. A couple of things. First, I totally agree ATK is not needed. I would also add that personally I'd dump SetCPU. I had it on my phone initially and found it actually caused me a significant amount of lag. Of course the minimum CPU speed, maximum CPU speed, and governor can all be set in "Cyanogen Mod Settings" on CM7 ROMs.
What do you mean by "laggy"? Perhaps you should describe it more competely. Are you seeing, for example, lag when you press home after running an app, and you have to wait for whichever home you are using (presumably LauncherPro) to redraw the home screen? If so, is that the only lag that you are seeing?
If your lag is only in the launcher redrawing when you go home, there are two solutions to that. Either settings->CyanogenMod settings->Performance and turn on "lock home in memory" or try running this script and run option 11, for the bulletproof launcher.
Incidentally, your SD card has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of space available for apps to run (unless, of course, you have moved many apps to SD). If you go into (it's something like this - I am running xtrSENSE right now, but it is similar enough) settings->SD card & phone storage, how much available space do you have under "Internal phone storage"? I do not think that this is your issue, based on the number of apps that you report installed, but so long as you are above 25 to 30 MB or so you should be all set.
Try not using JuiceDefender. What that app does is shut down all of your radios for a period of time, turning them on briefly on a periodic schedule (for example, it turns them on for a couple of minutes every 15 minutes.) However, if you power up the phone with the radios off, it will restart them at power up, causing the phone to feel slow as they power up and, of course, network activity to start right after the radios are turned back on. It will surely help with battery consumption, but if you want no lag, that would be the first of the apps that you list that I would remove.

Having the zip files on your SD card shouldn't cause any problems, since they aren't actually running anything or doing anything besides taking up space.
If you start getting short on SD card space (unlikely with 16 gb of it ) then deleting them probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

It does not matter in the slightest. The speed of your phone has nothing at all to do with the zip files that you have stored on your SD card, or the Nandroid backups that you have - unless, of course, you are out of space, and that would only affect a small handful of apps that may store data on SD.
Finally some answers, thanks everyone.

Sounds like an incomplete download. Check the MD5 hash of the file to make sure that it matches what the dev says it should, or at the very least verify that the file size matches what it's supposed to.
Also, make sure that you have a fairly well-charged battery.

I have a galaxy tab 10.1 wifi only. As I understand it, there's a 4 gig file size limitation due to how the memory is formatted. Is there a way to get around this. I have looked and searched multiple times not being able to find anything.
second questions, when I updated to touchwiz the sound on my videos and movies decreased significantly(using stock player) and 5.1 did not seem to work as well anymore, Thus I had to switch back to stock 3.1, is there a fix for this?
Thank you

i searched for it on google, everytime I would try to put a movie on my tab over 4 gigs it would halt, didn't have this problem on my xoom which i returned...it probably is the rom...i might try a different rom
Please let me know if using a different ROM resolves the issue.
It is not a limitation of the device or the filesystem (as many Google search results suggest).
I have this problem too and I noticed it copies the files to a temporary file on the device. It seems to stop at the end when it is done copying all the bits. It should move the temp file to the actual location where you wanted to copy the file but it doesn't thus failing to place the file on the device and deleting the temp file. I noticed that if you rename and add a filename extension to the temp file before it is removed it will play in whatever media player you use. This is very annoying to have to catch the temp file before it is removed and rename it manually each time so it's not worth the effort. Especially considering the Tegra 2 can't handle High Profile h.264 anyways.
Threads I've found suggested that Major Mayhem was promoted inappropriately on the forum, this isn't a promotion. Also the games and apps forum said if I have a question it should go in Q&A not games and apps forum.
Basically, I have a HTC One X with Jellybean Rom installed and have found that you can run the battery out completely even if it's on ac charge. I was playing the game for ages and the ph switched off. I thought it might have been overheating but it turns out that I had to boot into clockwork recovery to charge for a bit before I could boot the phone normally. Quad core burns battery power really quick.
I did this playing Mayhem and when I reloaded it I found all my saves were gone. I've spent heaps of time building up my accomplishments in this game. Can anyone suggest what might be going on? I don't know about how apps work yet. Could someone tell me the save game file strutucre so I can see if it's renamed/corrupt/missing or something? The game appears functional but I've probably spent 80 hrs on it building up the rep. Maybe someone could guide me through the file structure or how I could track programs install pathways?
Thanks,
Fishy

Use a file browser such as Astro, navigate to where you installed the game and look for the games package name (For example com.xyz.majormayhem). Once you find that go into the folder and look for game save data files, and other data files that are usually stored there. Try searching through the general "data" folder as well.

He means that unlike windows wizard procedure, android owns user and device so it does not bother telling you where files are and even hides files from owner, so break down is both destroying that concept and make everything available to owner at his own leisure, and creating decent installation log viewer from google to be able to inch every tiny detail, as those which don't have nothing to hide do.

Ah I see, that would be an interesting app to develop although I imagine that it would require root access to get all the necessary information from the system to present a complete and detailed installation breakdown log.

I've been trying this patch (manually, not the complete script), but I have found this actually slows down the folio. There is a reason why flash-based devices don't have a swap. When writing large blocks to swap, the system will stutter heavily. The slow flash disk of the folio will not help in this. My test shows it is actually slowing down quite a bit.
Even with the low RAM of the folio, it is still faster to just start/restart an app than to swap it away in a swapfile (resulting in 1secs of stutter) and then getting it back anyway from disk.
ZRAM is something similar. Tough here I can understand some improved use cases, but:
- you take away precious RAM
- then you swap out programs and compress them (uses a lot of CPU)
- if you swap the program in again, you need to decompress. Granted, the decompress might be a little faster than restarting the app.
- because of the lower useable memory, programs do have an higher chance than before to be compressed (vs killed without ZRAM), so decompression (with ZRAM) statistically will happen more than restarting (without ZRAM), making the gains of ZRAM point 3 less.
- I don't think this works correctly with huge processes (e.g. browser), and will just see that less RAM is available, and will not swap out parts because the whole memory region is still in use (best case, it will continuously swap in & out parts, making it again slower)
I'm not completely trowing out ZRAM, as it is still beneficial with some workload combinations (I think a large collection of small apps is the most optimal case)
