one noob question where can i find my H-boot version and my serial number ?
Your HBOOT version is found in fastboot (vol down + power). Your serial number is found under your battery. Revolutionary will also display it for you when it sees your phone and asks for the key.
thank you im giving this a try now
Or you could
adb get-serialno
for the serial number.

I am trying to upgrade my UK Vodafone HTC Magic to your Cyanogen Mod Froyo OS. It's currently running Android 1.6.
The "Upgrading from CyanogenMod 4.2 to CyanogenMod 5/6" article says:
Note: it is recommended that you upgrade to Amon_Ra recovery 1.7.0 for your device. Dream or Magic

And links to the article "[Recovery] [32A & 32B] [16-May-2010] RA-sapphire-v1.7.0".
It seems that the easiest way to install this is via Fastboot:
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img to a location where fastboot can find it.
Boot your G1 into fastboot mode (boot while holding BACK)
Connect your G1 via usb to your pc/mac/...
fastboot devices (to make sure that fastboot "sees" your device)

My fastboot screen says:

<BACK> Fastboot Mode
If I press "back" I am then presented with:
Code:
<VOL DOWN> HBoot Mode

<ACTION> Restart to HBoot
<MENU> Power Down
I don't understand how to flash the recovery file. Can someone help me out?
Thanks,

The best guide I've ever received was from THIS SITE.....I'm doing that as we speak
Thanks.
According to that method I'm pretty sure I have to create a goldcard to get back to Cupcake. Which is annoying, because I don't currently have a spare SD card (as it currently errors whenever I try to flash to a new ROM). And I'm also a little worried that I might brick my phone. I was hoping I could avoid this by not needing to downgrade, by installing this Amon_RA recovery mod.
However, as it looks like I probably just have to suck it up and do the goldcard method, I'll just order one on ebay and have done with it.
Cheers.
Hello everyone.
I have an HTC Hero (GSM) that:
1) Cannot boot at all, it is just showing the HERO logo
2) Cannot enter bootloader, it shows a red exclamation mark
3) Pressing trackball+back+power it can enter fastboot where it displays:
HERO CVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.76.0007 (HERO10000)
MICROP-010f
TOUCH PANEL-SYN0104

FASTBOOT USB
<VOL DOWN> HBoot Mode
<MENU> Reset Device
When I connect it to the pc, it finds it as an HTC device but the "adb devices" command gives me nothing.
I am little dissapointed as whatever I have tried was pointless. And the problem is that I bought it from ebay not knowing that it does not work...
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you all in advace.
I managed to find the device in fastboot, typing fastboot devices.
But when I try to flash a new recovery I get the error "Failed (remote: not allowed)" ...
So I'm stuck... with only access to fastboot...
Perhaps You could try applying RRU, that could help i think.
BUT I'm not sure, so please research this subject
Hope You get Your hero working
brat.haneq
Thanks for your reply. I am looking into it now..
I found the solution!
Downloaded the RUU (ftp://xda:[email protected]_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe) and while in fastboot usb run the wizard!
And the hero is working again!
I have a similar issue - PLEASE HELP
Hi,
My wife's UK GSM T-Mobile G2 has also developed a similar issue where, on boot it just hangs at the G2 touch splash screen. it did have villianrom on it but it now no longer boots.
I have managed to get it into fastboot where I can talk to it via the sdk but dont really know what to do from here to get it working. I tried to get the official RUU update from HTC and apply that but just get a USB connection error after clicking the .exe. I cant run any adb commands only fastboot commands.
I cannot even access the custom recovery. I think what has happened is somehow an update to the hboot has occured OTA and the phone can no longer run unsigned code. I think this as the hboot says S-ON which from doing reading indicates that the phone cant run unsigned code. (I've also tried to flash the amon-ra custom recovery via fastboot and it fails with an signature verify fail error also indicating this.)
The wife says she received a blank email and went to delete it and thats when the problem occured Is there any way for me to flash signed code to it via fastboot USB and if so, where can I get the files from?
Really desperate as the mrs is now without her phone!
Thanks in advance
can anybody link me to the link for the stock ruu, please. i looked on androidruu, but didnt know which one to download. thanks
If you want we help you find the right ruu you need to tell us some information about your phone. For example the most important what is your device name!Secontly (if you have an htc for example) we need to know your cid number to help you with your ruu choice.
If you want to find your cid and your device cannot boot into android you could get into fastboot mode (hboot) by pressing the power button and volume- button (if you have an htc phone) and you give from your computer the command fastboot getvar cid (The fastboot have to be red in your phone {hboot screen} to give that command / usually it is enabled when you plug your usb cable to your computer).Of cource you will need a fastboot.exe file to run the command through cmd.

You probably have an HTC One X+.(I found it thanks to version main you posted)
Your cid is probably US.
If you had posted your build number too it would be better.
Take a look here and see if this is the ruu you was looking for:
HTC One X+â„¢ for AT&T ROM Update | 4.12.2013
I hope I helped you!
So I was on my way to unlocking my boot loader and rooting the phone when i ran into this issue. (i am on AT&T)
The phone is stuck on a Red Exclamation Point and then it reboots to a white HTC screen every minute or two.
Where I was at in the process my bootloader was "unlocked", "tampered" displayed. I had even backed up with TWRP. The thing was I couldnt get the USB Debugging turned on. I turned it on before I started the process and was having trouble finishing with superuser and rooting the device. I had been trying forever to setup the S-OFF Feature to NO AVAIL.
Once I unlocked on HTCdev and then setup TWRP I just could never get the phone back to normal.
Once again this is the INT'L Version of the HTC ONE MAX and I just don't know where to turn next.
Please help. I am without phone and just purchased yesterday.
TIA - Mark
Well what you need is an ruu (rom utility updater) which is an updater program officially from htc. but I can't seem to find it for you, perhaps because it's not even made yet..
I'm affraid it's gonna have to go back to the store, are you able to acces to bootloader? if not, then don't worry about it being unlocked, they'll never notice. They're going to reset it for you or give you a replacement.

heres my question how do i know what RUU to search for? how do i figure out which version i need based on my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Mark
Well you say you have the international version? but you got it from at&t so it's carrier branded right?
but first things first, you have to be able to access the bootloader to start the ruu. So can you access it?
when in fastboot: find out the CID by this command: fastboot getvar cid
If it answers with : None. Don't worry, try this command: fastboot oem readcid
Then it will tell you the CID. this code is needed when receiving updates from your carrier.
You will need to find the ruu for your CID, any other ruu won't work.
If you find an international ruu for your phone, you can use that one, but you have to have SuperCID.
You can get superCID after you s-off..
If you have SuperCID you can flash any ruu for your device, be careful though, I bricked my htc one s with a wrong ruu.
Goodluck!
the phone is not sold by ATT but is GSM
i cannot access boot loader.
I cant get past the RED EXCLAMATION (so am I bricked?)
this is the phone...
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-One-Max-F...92559809&sr=8-3&keywords=htc+one+max+unlocked
when in fastboot: find out the CID by this command: fastboot getvar cid
If it answers with : None. Don't worry, try this command: fastboot oem readcid
also i did find the TRWP backup if that matters or helps....
i tried both commands and it says fastboot is notrecognized as an internal or external command
operable program or batch file.
Well if you cannot access the bootloader, then you can't use fastboot commands..
Can you tell me what button pressing combinations you have used to enter bootloader?
Can you try to power the phone off completely and then just hold volume down?
The twrp backup can come in handy when your phone gets a working recovery, don't delete that
when i hold down the vol down...it just stays on RED EXCLAMATION....and when I try and enter bootloader mode with vol it just gives me the reset to the White HTC screen and back to the RED EXCL
i have not been able to power down completely

I'm pretty clueless here, If i were you i would keep trying to get in the bootloader. I have had a similar soft brick on my htc one and after half an hour of pressing every key combination it ended up in the bootloader. If that doesn't work I would let it get replaced on warranty
Okay so now I need some HELP.
I took out the SD Card and the SIM Card and the Bootloader screen comes up.
My choices are FASTBOOT, RECOVERY FACTORY RESET, SIM LOCK etc.
What do I do. I feel like I got one chance at this!
And here is my boot loader
my last question....how do i enable the USB Debugging. It shows as being OFF.
Can i do through boot loader or through the CMD Prompt..?

okey here's what you do, you don't have to have usb debugging enabled. that's only for adb purposes. You need to try and access the twrp recovery from the bootloader. If it doesn't work. try and look for the boot.img file of a twrp recovery for your device and flash that through fastboot
Greetings,
I haven't seen this method discussed, so I'm posting it here for any of you that may need an alternative way to grab your phone's serial number besides booting into the OS fully. One example of this scenario: You restarted the phone and forgot that Android already downloaded and is going to try and install a newer OS on the next boot. There's a whole bunch of reasons one may find themselves hesitant to boot into normal or safe mode, so here's a way to grab the serial from fastboot without using an IMEI lookup:
To enter fastboot AKA Download mode:
Cable plugged in (either power or to host machine)
Volume Down + Power key for a few seconds until you feel the vibration.
Remove finger from Power, but keep holding Volume Down.
[You should now be in fastboot mode, aka "Download mode". It has a barcode with your IMEI in it.]
If you then connect your phone to a machine with adb and fastboot, you should be able to type:
fastboot getvar serialno
or, you'll probably like this one better, which includes the serial number in addition to a few pages of details.
fastboot getvar all
This trick probably works on all phones, now that I think about it, but I haven't tried
Hope this helps someone!
Peace
