{Q} Wireless Tether for Root users - HTC EVO 3D

Mine doesn't work. It connects but it doesn't connect to the net. Anyone else?

Won't work until we have a custom kernel. Use Barnicle.

[Q] Tethering

Will I be able to Tether from my EVO when I get the USB adapter for the 10.1? EVO currently works with other computers.
I've been tethering wireless to my EVO since I took the Sammy out of the box. Rooted, Wifi Tether. Not sure about hard connection

I'm currently having a problem with my rooted EVO's wireless tether (frustrating) but the wired tether is working. Just not sure if it will work on the 10.1 when the backordered USB adapter arrives. Thanks for your info.
I would doubt it.. but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about
Follow the instruction from this thread and it will work. I did it on my SGT and it worked great.

Native tether, Hotspot Unlock, Wireless Tether, Wifi Tether

I know there have been posts in regard to this issue.
Wireless tether -- no go
Wifi Tether -- 4g only
Native Hotspot -- 3g only
The only Native Hotspot that I have ever gotten to work is with the Sprint Lovers ROM on the OG evo on Froyo only. I have tried the new SL ROM on GB and only 3g works. After reading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172576 I may now know why 4g on Native doesnt work on the the 3d or OG evo. Was wondering if someone could incorporate the SL ROM "Wireless Hotspot" to the 3d and possibly the OG evo.
Thx
Mike

That's the WiFi tether from the market, search "WiFi tether"
Edit: "wireless tether for root users" by muller, lemons and buxton

Wifi tether - only one that works for 4g, but gives me 3g speeds to the connected computer.. anyone experiencing similar issues?
I dont know if this will help ya but i use Barnacle...it does 3g and 4g and works great.
Barnacle is fine, however, it doesnt switch between 3g and 4g unless u manually adjust the software. I drive a cab for a living, so when i drive in and out of 4g, Barnacle doesnt switch like "wireless tether" for the OG evo or the "wireless hotspot" for the EVO on Sprint Lovers Rom 3.70 Froyo.

Roms
I've found that Virusrom successfully unlocked the built in wireless and wired tethering abilities. I haven't tested the 4g with it though.
I tried synergy nightly and also Virusrom with the wireless tether app, neither of them seem to work, only the sprint hotspot.
Has anyone found any other roms that have unlocked the build in tethering services?

ViperRom works with the native Sprint Hotspot app. Best rom out there too for stability and battery life IMO.

I'm running the same ROM as you and also tried to use wireless tether. I used it with the og EVO and it worked perfect. However I couldn't get WT to work with evo3d. Try barnacle WiFi tether. Worked fine for my 3d.
For the Sprint question I'm not sure, but I think $30 extra is ridiculous.

Wireless Tether NEW VERSION - 3.1 BETA6
thanks for the reply i am currently using clean rom 2.3 sp1.
on the road about to hit a pit stop hopefully i can try this out (let see if hp touchpad can go on line)
would sprint know that i am using tether and charge me?
some guy posted that he was using it until he was charged by sprint but the same person who posted this only had 1 post and wouldn't reply to me questions.
Wireless tether is ad hoc so Sprint shouldn't be able to tell the difference between the data usage

[Q] Wireless Tethering Not Working Anymore?

Hey guys, i was helping some friends root their phones (galaxy s II and Evo 3D) and we couldn't get the wireless tethering app to work. I then checked my phone just for kicks and giggles, (Evo 4g which has been rooted and my tethering was previously working) and now it wont tether as well, most the time my computer will see the network but when it connects says it doesn't have internet access. The reason im posting this here is because it seems to be happening to multiple devices now, are providers blocking tethering now? whats the deal anyone having similar issues?
Same here bro, but on my evo and my girls optimus, and we both had tethering working and were using regularly. The only thing I can think of that changed was we upgraded to the newest radios last time we switched roms. Not at all an expert, you think that might have something to do with the problem?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Im not sure, i think it may have something to do with networks getting smarter... ie, sprint verizon att etc. are they maybe blocking it you think? Ive noticed it on all three of those carriers.
Companies like lg are always trying to break/kill root with every update, so I think if they could they probably would. Tethers a powerful tool that everybody wants, and most have now for free. That's alot of lost revenue.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
What carriers are you two using? I just tested my tethering on AT&T and it's working fine running unnamed on my SGSII
not working on a recently rooted galaxy s II for att..
not working on a recently rooted htc evo 3d for sprint...
was working for the lognest time just check my htc evo 4g and not working on that now for some reason.
ive tried barnacle and wireless tethering...
Question, are the ones having the issue on rooted stock rom? I know the thunderbolt rooted running stock rom has the tethering stop working. I'm on cm 7 so the carrier apk that checks for that is not in cm7. I still tether my Xoom daily.
If you are just using one of the programs from the market it may be a build issue, On one of my Evos I had an issue that made it so that only one of the programs worked and it only worked in pre-build 010 other then that it never worked until I flashed MikFroyo.
Just for kicks I checked to see if tethering is still working from the unlocked sprint hotspot and it is fine on my hardware 004 evo 4G
Wireless tethering is a b---- to get working on an EVO 3D (CDMA). Barnacle and Wireless Tether worked when I was using my Temp Root, but not with 4G turned on.
I fully rooted, and then I couldn't find the wireless tethering apps in the market any more! I hadn't backed them up with Titanium! However, I found the APKs elsewhere, installed them and still had problems (either they wouldn't work or I couldn't get 4G to work). Long story short, I upgraded Wireless Tether to 2.0.2 and the screen resolution is wrong, but I can do 3G and 4G wireless tethering!
However, the first time I tested my 4G tethering speed, I got only 2Mbps. I tried it again and got 1Mbps. Tested once more and got less than 1Mbps. So it's not perfect.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

[Q] Wireless Tether

My rezound is set to show up this afternoon. Is their any confirmed way to get wireless tether with this phone yet? Can I just root the device than download the wireless tether for root apk I used on my onl evo? Any help would be appreciated
There is no real root left. PDAnet probably works if that doesn't need root. I am not sure though but we should have real root/s-off in a few weeks.
