Camera app not working on Alien rom - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just installed Kenneth's Alien rom(which is great by the way!) and it seems the camera app didn't install. I haven't seen others with this issue so I thought I'd ask here. In the meantime I can use my 2.2.2 camera backup, but I'd like to be able to use the newer gingerbread version.

Just noticed actually that Navalynt has a couple of camera apk's on his CHERRYπ & πCRUST v0.3 thread, try that?

Yeah, already tried the D3 camera, still didn't work.

I am having the same problem, a bump for a solution possibly ?

i am having the same problem with my atrix running the rom. have tried downloading the d3 camera from the cheery rom thread still didnt work. any fix/tips available yet?

I am running alien v4 and installed the cherrypi camera. It works, but it's stuck in landscape mode, cannot switch to portrait. any suggestions on that?

I've been running Alien #4 for a couple of weeks now. A few things were giving me issues at first, but I re-wiped everything, re-flashed, re-wiped all again, and now everything's OK. No issues at all.

[Q] want to try a custom froyo 2.2

Hello folks,
I am some what new to the Android OS, I have a vibrant that has been updated with mini kies to the JI6 2.1 ECLAIR. I am anxious to try out Froyo. I thought I would wait awhile until the Devs could work out some bugs. I think that has happened by now. So I have three questions.
1. what is the most stable custom Froyo based ROM I can flash on my vibrant?
2. Is there a Froyo based ROM that already has mobile AP enabled for the vibrant?
3. Where (if possible) can I download a stock ROM of the vibrant? (Before you tell me to make one, know that mine is not stock, I have installed OCLF, and the JI6 update)
thanks for any help that can be given,
RAMROD

1. [ROM] Obsidian V2 - JK2 Official Froyo Based 2.2 - Team Whiskey - *11/08/10* Very stable for me
2. Yes [ROM] Obsidian V2 - JK2 Official Froyo Based 2.2 - Team Whiskey - *11/08/10* I think most of the Froyo releases have it now.
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739091
This is my preference, seems very stable and can be a daily driver. I imagine its going to have an update soon, we'll see. I don't like TW, if you do, perhaps try another version (eugenes or TWs Obsidian).

Mobile AP should be in there, Im charging so I can't check.

-- Wait the link was to a "True Stock" 2.1 rom, are you saying that is your current preference over Froyo?
-- Your aversions to TW... is that you don;t like them personally, or you do not like their roms?
^ HAHAA, Sorry, let me clarify:
I LOVE Team Whiskey. I HATE TouchWiz (TW).
The link is to Onyx. It is 2.2 without TW (TouchWiz). It flies on my Vibrant... no FCs, very stable. I imagine they are going to have an update soon but the good news is they are not wiping data now so you can flash R21, then R22 and not lose anything. If/when they release R23 I imagine that too will not wipe data so you can just flash right on top and not lose anything.
LauncherPro is more appealing to me, more customizable and it's faster. There is nothing I like about TW better than LP. I also hate scrolling left to right (I know there is an alt way, but LP is better for me). Look at the downloads/comments for Onyx (no TW) vs. Obsidian (the 2.2 version with touchwiz) and you will see an overwhelming majority prefer no TW.

So I installed bionics Obsidian 2.2 on my vibrant using Clockwork rom manager. Everything went smooth. It installed and booted just great, I really liked what I saw. Only problem I ran into was I had purchased a app before I flashed rom. After flash, it was gone.. not just off the phone but not in the market either. No big deal normally I would just go into market and click Downloads and there it would be. Not this time, cant even find it doing a search. I paid like $14 usd for it so I would like it. But its completely gone. Maybe it wont show it to me because of the new firmware?
Now, it is not there and my first instinct told me to re-flash... So I open clockwork and try and re-install. I locate file on SD.. But, instead of rebooting into clockwork, it reboots like its going to and reboots again but into standard recovery OS mode.
What would be the easiest way for me to re-flash this using a macbook?
Remember reading somewhere that the market installed was the european version so some paid apps would appear. However i can't seem to find the post that originally mentioned this issue. Anyone else remember if obsidian was using the european version of the market?
C to the L-O-T-O-R-I-O, U-S, you just, lay down slow.
If you have clockwork still installed (the answer is yes if you have a team whiskey rom loaded), if you get to the standard pre-loader, recovery mode, just select "reinstall packages..." That should get you into CwR

Just got onyx up on my phone, and damn.... You were 11O% correct about launcher pro.. Did you buy the full version?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Regarding apps... don't forget to get Titanium Backup and backup not only all your apps but also their data. I recommend the donated pro version for $5.99 which makes the backup/restore process completely painless and automatic. So after you flash a new rom if something like you describe happens you can just recover your app from your backup.

[Q] fully working and stable rom?

so i have been reading through the cm7 and the miui forums. and they both say that the builds have a few problems. such as the market fc. and no radio in cm7.
does anyone know of any roms that are fully stable and everything works.
(i use market and radio alot)
please help
I am using galnets miui stable, everything works. Newest market version is bugged on AOSP ROMs so you need to downgrade it to older.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
how do i downgrade it?, as i remember trying it on my old phone. and the app just updates.
Galnet is pretty good, battery ok and stable. However I can never get CMR backup to work so switching ROMS is a hassle it need not be. MD5 errors with all miui ROMS, they obviously cannot be bothered to fix it.. really annoying.
There is also no service bug, connection drops and you have to kill the dailler or reboot, i still had it in new release but there is a fix for this - although again and very annoying they cannot be bothered to fix this properly, this should be priority number one.

I have CM7 for my Atrix, and since CM7 does not support the webtop, im out of luck. I have a bit of experience with my atrix and rooting etc. What is the best rom for atrix that I could use with my weptop?
PS: If I were to install that rom, do I have to Factory reset my phone? I forgot how to do all of these things
Thanks.

In my case I had issues with Darkside, and now that I have switched to WetDream it's running great. (that was using the webtop2sd mod, the stock webtop was working fine)
So I guess I would recommend WetDream by Nottach.

Thank you, but if I were to install it, would I have to factory reset my phone first? Could you link em a tutorial on how to if you have an existing rom?

I personally go into recovery after I have a ROM on my sd card I want to install and wipe phone, wipe cache, and wipe davilk cache in that order. Then I install the ROM and reboot.

I've been switching between both, and I think WetDream tops it. DarkSide was laggier for me in webtop.
i am using gingermode #6 with ICS theme
Most if not all Nottach ROMS have excellent webtop support

[Q] Froyo 2.2 to ICS?

I haven't updated my my old faithful Vibrant in a while (then again, it's running amazingly fast and smooth and battery life is up in the 12+ hours range after average use) and was curious about Ice Cream Sandwhich. From what I've seen, it's fantastic, everyone loves it, yadda yadda yadda.
My Vibrant is running Froyo 2.2 with BionixNext Gen V2 ROM, Tigersblood Kernel and a KB5 Modem.
So my question: is there a way to flash to ICS without going back to stock 2.1 and doing so straight from the phone? Or do I need to go the whole Odin/laptop/USB cable route?
And any good recs for ROMs running on 2.2 in case I can't flash ICS? I'm a tad tired of Bionix.
Thanks all!
Download ics rom, download subzero or glitch kernel. Flash kernel, reboot recovery or use 3 buttons to get into recovery and flash ics.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk 2
You can do what Alex says.
Look at the link in my signature on a more detailed description of the process.
Just so you know, if you decide ICS isn't for you then you will have to go the Odin route back to non-ICS. Also there is a very real danger of getting the dreaded Encryption Error Bug (see top of my ICS guide for more details) .
As long as you didn't update to Froyo through Samsung Kies you should be OK. If you used Kies, revert to stock then cm7 then ICS.

Crap, I think I did upgrade using Kies, but it's been so long I forgot. Once I had Froyo, Bionix and Tigersblood running well I never flashed anything so it's been a while since I tinkered with the phone.
Thanks all, I'll look into the guides a bit more (been reading many of them and there are several different ways of doing this which is why I posted, I wanted to be absolutely sure before flashing).

There is a good video that covers how to flash from stock to ICS. Go to YouTube and search djeddieone and go to his YouTube page. He also has a video on how to get back to stock if your not sure how. I personally used his methods when i first started flashing and had no trouble at all.

Bro its cake:
Install CWM Recovery
Reboot into recovery.
Wipe data, then wipe cache
Install from ZIP.
Optionally install the Google Apps add-on.
Reboot.
You can optionally install a kernal like glitch but not necessary - I recommend Icy Glitch V14

Just so you know there may have been some very creative editing in the video. It doesn't cover everything and is a bit outdated also. I have read that people get stuck in some parts of it and also that some get through to full flash. Just take care.

Some will have to flash CM7 as an intermittent step between 2.2 and 4.0. It helps convert the /system partion to MTD correctly and smoothly. It isn't required but a good idea. (Note: flashing CM7 will not give you Gingerbread Bootloaders which are also no longer required but heavily recommended)
...and read up on the Encryption Unsuccessful error.

I don't think there was any creative editing lol. Djeddieone is a very trusted source actually. If someone messed up by watching his video then they didn't follow directions correctly or they upgraded through samsung kies and forgot to revert to stock first. There are a few comments on there saying it doesn't work but those guys did not realize this video is for Samsung vibrant only, that's their fault lol.

The only issues that I have heard of is when 1.7.5 is flashed over 1.6.1. When coming from a clean install 1.7.5 is stable and everything works. I came from clean install and 1.7.5 is working great.

Thanks for the info. I'm fairly new to the root/flash scene. I just flashed 1.6.1 and it seems to run good. I didn't tweak any settings though. As far as clean installing 1.7.5, in my case, would that mean flashing AOKP JB M1 rom, then flash 1.7.5? I just want to avoid wiping data again.
I have clean installed 1.7.5 a few times now, and I can tell you that 1.6.1 still runs better. After a while everything gets a little laggy, and it's noticeable (AOKP JB M1). I went back to 1.6.1 and haven't had any slowdowns whatsoever.
The link is here btw: http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/jellybean/Fascinate/161/
