[Q] Rom for Webtop? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have CM7 for my Atrix, and since CM7 does not support the webtop, im out of luck. I have a bit of experience with my atrix and rooting etc. What is the best rom for atrix that I could use with my weptop?
PS: If I were to install that rom, do I have to Factory reset my phone? I forgot how to do all of these things
Thanks.

In my case I had issues with Darkside, and now that I have switched to WetDream it's running great. (that was using the webtop2sd mod, the stock webtop was working fine)
So I guess I would recommend WetDream by Nottach.

Thank you, but if I were to install it, would I have to factory reset my phone first? Could you link em a tutorial on how to if you have an existing rom?

I personally go into recovery after I have a ROM on my sd card I want to install and wipe phone, wipe cache, and wipe davilk cache in that order. Then I install the ROM and reboot.

I've been switching between both, and I think WetDream tops it. DarkSide was laggier for me in webtop.

i am using gingermode #6 with ICS theme

Most if not all Nottach ROMS have excellent webtop support

Camera app not working on Alien rom

I just installed Kenneth's Alien rom(which is great by the way!) and it seems the camera app didn't install. I haven't seen others with this issue so I thought I'd ask here. In the meantime I can use my 2.2.2 camera backup, but I'd like to be able to use the newer gingerbread version.

Just noticed actually that Navalynt has a couple of camera apk's on his CHERRYπ & πCRUST v0.3 thread, try that?
Yeah, already tried the D3 camera, still didn't work.

I am having the same problem, a bump for a solution possibly ?
i am having the same problem with my atrix running the rom. have tried downloading the d3 camera from the cheery rom thread still didnt work. any fix/tips available yet?
I am running alien v4 and installed the cherrypi camera. It works, but it's stuck in landscape mode, cannot switch to portrait. any suggestions on that?
I've been running Alien #4 for a couple of weeks now. A few things were giving me issues at first, but I re-wiped everything, re-flashed, re-wiped all again, and now everything's OK. No issues at all.

[Q] Can't flash a custom kernel on AT&T Atrix

I've tried again and again, following multiple sets of directions, but for some reason, whenever I try to flash faux's OC UV GB Kernel for my AT&T Atrix, the phone won't boot or get past the boot screen. I have no idea why this could be happening and have tried whatever I could think of to fix the problem but no luck so far.
I've tried to flash previous versions as well as the latest version of faux's kernel using Romracer's latest CWM, but it hasn't worked. I keep having to flash back to the stock AT&T kernel to get the phone to boot up. I've tried this on the HomeBase Rom, DARKSIDE Rom and on the Alien Rom. The ROMs work fine with the stock kernel though.
I also tried flashing CM7 and faux's CM7 but that didn't work either.
Anyone think of why this could be happening and have any suggestions that I could try to get this working?
Thanks in advance for the help.

When I have flashed a rom like DARKSIDE, which has the kernel built-in, the phone won't boot and I have the same issue, even though it has the correct kernel, unless I flash back to stock at&t kernel.
He has a GB version and a CM version out. Are you sure you're using the correct version for your rom?

yes, I have tried the GB AT&T/Unified Version for when i have flashed a GB Rom and I tried the CM7 Kernel for when I flashed CM7, neither kernel was working for their respective roms.

Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you, thanks for your suggestion, I did try this but still no results. I reflashed pudding and put recovery back and then tried flashing the kernel again but it still gives me the same result. Anyone have any other ideas i could try?
I also tried doing a full wipe after flashing the kernel as well, that didn't work either.
sorry man, i can't think of anything that might be causing that problem. you should send Faux123 a tweet and ask him about it, if he has spare time he might be able to help you out
Does anyone have any ideas i could try to get this workong? I'd really love to use faux's kernel on my atrix.

use RSD Lite to sbf to 2.3.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284679 then root it with motorola one click root http://www.psouza4.com/Bionic/ Then download and install bootstrap for x2. Get eclipse 1.0 and 1.1 and install both on the SD card, use bootstrap and just flash 1.0 and 1.1. Wipe first and i also think you need to do a factory reset.

Do you need to factory reset or clear cache and dalvick when you flash the patch?

i would clear catch and dalvick. Im not to sure about factory reset but i would do it incase.
Wipe data and cache, then flash 1.0. Then flash the patch immediately after that. Shouldn't be any need to wipe twice. Worked fine for me anyway.
what camera does eclipse 1.1 use?
Camera is eclipse 1.1 using? Is it the blur 2.3.3 or is it still using the MIUI camera? Thinking about flashing tonight.

Nitro removed alot of blur framework so it may not work when you get it installed. Blur crap is dependant on other blur crap, so any time nitro removes some blur, he removes the other crap that makes it work. Good luck.

Battery draining fast eclipse 1.1
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I charged my phone all night before flashing 2.3.4 this morning. I cleared everything including battery stats. I loaded eclips 1.0 and 1.1 and once I was on eclipse I even calibrated my battery. I had it on the charger all morning while flashing and loading up apps. I did not calibrate battery until after it was on %100 for a long time. Calibrated and unplugged. Now I have noticed with light usage with some music and web and I dropped to %80 in 40 minutes. Does this sound right? Seemed like the battery life was better when I was on the rooted stock rom. I also noticed this when I tried .8.1 on 2.3.3. Any ideas for a noob? Thanks!

BLN kernel New to Fascinate

New to modding the fascinate, its not mine but they want the BLN so my question is, is there a kernel that can go on stock 2.3.5? Rooting is not a big deal just wondering if theres a way to keep the stock rom with a different kernel
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364912
This kernel should work if you're on stock EH03 2.3.5. Clear cache and dalvik, flash in CWM. If you have any questions regarding flashing there's a few stickies in these forums that can help you. I recommend SuperClean as a rom as well, or GeeWiz. They are much more efficient than stock yet at least as stable. Good luck!
Edit: Darn ICS spell checker...
So flashing that kernel i dont have to wipe data do i?
And since its on 2.3.5 do i have to do anything special like go back to an older version or anything?

No and no, but you have to wipe your cache and dalvik cache or else you might boot loop.
so what would be the easiest way to root this bad boy? any app that can just be loaded onto the phone such as z4 or do i have to use adb?

New to Rooting Questions

I just rooted my DX2, i intended to use rom manager to flash/backup my roms but that was not working. So i downloaded bootstrap (the little green arrow icon) and used that to make a backup of my stock system and then used titanium backup to backup all my apps.
What i wanted to know is when i finally install a new rom and do a data wipe how do i recover everything if it starts me with a clean phone? do i just reinstall titanium and bootstrap and will SU still be installed?
Also can you point me to a good guide on installing CM9 to my DX2?
Thank you,
Jake
A couple of things. What system version are you on? 2.3.4 or 2.3.5? Also Rom Manager doesnt work for us (as you know now.) Are you using the BSR from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083 ?
When you install a ROM yes you reinstall the BSR (but if you are going on CM7-9-10 then you need the CM7 patched BSR once on the ROM.) and then Redownload Titanium Backup. All your backups are stored on your external card so a wipe doesnt get rid of them. Once titanium is loaded back up it will find them.
A rom comes rooted so SU and everything is part of the package. Install instructions for ROMS are on the original page of the ROMS. Just note that if you are on 2.3.5 the only ROM that will work for you is Eclipse. All the other ROMs are 2.3.4 based.

Eclipse is a very stable and clean ROM. I used it for a long time. CM7 is also stable and a.lot.more customizable but you will need to SBF to 2.3.4 to get on it. Both eclipse and CM7 are gingerbread roms. Cm9, MIUI, AOKP Paranoid Android are ICS and CM10 is jellybean.
