Can you view 3D movies in Moboplayer? When I hit the hard menu button, it just locks or unlocks the screen. Is there any way to toggle between 2D and 3D besides on the stock video player?
Nobody uses Moboplayer?
i use it and so far from every option that i've seen you can't as of now. maybe in a later update. oh and menu only locks the screen when a vid is playing
Interesting. Someone in another thread said they were able to view 3D movies but I couldn't find that option anywhere. I really like Moboplayer but that's kind of a deal breaker for me.

I love it too...
But really, for 3d, the stock player works just fine.
You're going to want to convert the videos anyway (most 3d stuff is HUGE without the conversion) and looks great in the stock player.
Mobo works well for your non-3d stuff on the 3vo.

Yea, I've been converting them using Handbrake and most of my full length movies on my 3vo average around 1-1.4 GB.
The stock player is fine but I absolutely love the gestures controls on Moboplayer.
yea the gestures are great. it is easier to fast forward or rewind instead of skipping all over using the little bar crap lol.
So I used mono the other day and happened to click a 3d video and it played in 3d. I haven't checked any actual movies it was just a video I had recorded. Just like to say that incase anyone still cares.

So I know this thread is ancient but how did you get Moboplayer to play a 3D video in 3D?
Nearly all players play 3D, but only if you filmed them with the phone. 3DBD SBS movies work only on 3DVPlayer.

By 3DVPlayer, do you mean the stock video player?

Wasn't the reason other players didn't play 3d video because the meta data that indicates its a 3d video is missing? That would make sense to me because the 3d movies I have don't haven't they 3d label in Gallery and need to be told to play in 3d. Whereas the videos recorded by the phone have the label and are automatically in 3d. I bet adding the proper meta data will resolve that. Haven't tried playing with anything yet but I think I saw someone else suggest the meta data idea before too.

moboplayer does play in 3D for me. on ICS at least.
but: you have to play it in 3D in the default player first. then press Home to go back out. Play any video with any other player and it will still be in 3D. Even your camera when set to 2D will be in "3D". This is more of a bug than a solution though. But you'll be able to play 3D videos on any player.
If you want to restore functionality back to your 2D camera (because it still thinks it is in 3D mode) set the default video player to play any video in 2D again and it will be fine.

Ah...that's why my camera was acting wonky after watching a movie in 3D. Is this bug present in Sprint's stock ICS or just in custom ICS roms?

Has anyone figured out how to format the 3D Movies for the EVO 3D?
How about get the movie to start in the 3D mode on the Media Player?
The Evo plays mpeg4 in 3d I believe. But heres a thread about converting videos.

And if you want to play it in 3d you just need to hit the 3D button on the top right corner I think. Sorry its been a while that I used 3D.

Yes, I know how to do it by pressing the 3D button, but is there a way using some coding to get it to auto open in the 3D?

does it encode the 3d flag for instant 3d recognition from the 3vo? I've noticed allot of downloadable 3d is top and bottom, the 3vo will play with the flag but wont without it

As sleekgreek said, it's to do with the tags in the mp4 file.
the framepacking tag needs to be set to 3 for SBS L&R movies. it's either 4 or 5 for top and bottom, but i can't remember for certain.
You can use videolan's X.264 encoder to do that. but that only puts out H.264 video, so you'd need to then use something else to do your audio and then combine them again into one mp4 container.
the command for x.264 is:
Code:
x264 --frame-packing 3 -o [Input].mp4 [Output].mp4
but like i said, this is video only, so remember to use whatever other tools you use to encode the audio and then recombine.
handbrake

Using handbrake: use x264 codec, go to "advanced" tab and add
":frame-packing=3"
without quotes into the command box at the bottom. For the other setting just try what best suits your needs.
The file must be .mp4 (just rename) in order to have the 3d/2d switch, this way you can see 2d in right way!
Hit thanks if you've found this useful.

I'm Hoping someone can help me out here. I've downlaoded some movies from sick-flix and copied them to my sd card. Great!!
They are in .mp4 format and when i go and play them from the gallery they play as 2 side by side videos. Great!!!
So I press the options button and tell it to play in 3D, click OK and it doesn't switch. Not So Great!!!
I have a rogers 3d evo S-OFF and rooted. it shouldn't really matter, i think.

You are correct, it is not so Great! You followed the correct method for it to work. Is it on all of the 3D movies or just the one? Also, have you tried one of the sick-flix remastered yet? Those should open in 3D automatically.
it works!!

Well after restarting my phone for the 4th time I am finally able to see 3d movies Properly. Couldn't tell you what happened but it's working beautifully now.
3d movies evo 3d
The Green Hornet, Coraline, Pirates Of The Carribean 4, Monsters VS Aliens, Resident Evil 4, The Lion King, X-Men First Class, and a collection of looney tunes clips, all in superb side byside 3d, some have ore 2depth than others, but WOW, This phone Rocks
to play the movies, open them with "view video" then when they play side by side, press menu, soft key, then play in 3d , sorted
Pb with SBS in WMV format
I have a WMV SBS movie and when I try to play it, it stays in 2 frame (left and Right).
When I try to encode it with Wondershared, it results 4 frames...
How to play it ?
Thanks i was trying to figure that out
Does anyone know a good app that can stream 3d movies on your pc to your evo 3d?? I can't seem to find one. I've tried plex, skifta, gmote and it wont play in 3d. I think the only player that can allow you to play in 3d is the Evo's native video player which gives you the option to 3d. Otherwise you have to place the 3d movie on your phones SD card which takes up a lot of space. So I am trying to store it on my computer and just stream it through DLNA. If anyone knows that would be great.
Try zumocast. Havent tried it for 3d movies but i dont see why it wouldnt work.

I actually had the same thought and tried zumocast but it just plays the movie sbs. I think it must use a default player that doesn't support stereoscopic.

Have you tried from VLC direct Pro? According to the app, you can stream from phone to pc and vice versa. I emailed them about it, but they have yet to respond. A lot of the movie files I've seen are over 4GB, which is the limit for either android or my HTC evo3d (forgot).
EDIT:
Also, MX Video allows me to play all the 3D videos I've recorded. I prefer this app to the native for movies because it has convenient controls using swipe gestures.
Hi there!
I got my new Evo 3D today, now I'm trying to play a 3D Bluerayrip on it.
For the SD card is the Movie to big. I found a Streaing method, but on this the movie is not in 3D, I only see the two Stereoscopic pictures. Switching to 3D isn't there.
How i can watch the movie on the Evo?
thanks a lot =)
Only the stock movie player app has the 3d button. You would need to convert it to a file version supported by the stock app. Can the stock app load streams?

what streaming method did you find? I was hoping to do this same thing as I've taken so much 3D video I've had to move it to my PC and I've thought maybe I can watch it on my phone via streaming! I know that the YouTube app can play streaming feeds in 3D, but that's off YouTube. maybe if someone can make it able to read streams from other addresses!
You can stream in the gallery app. Just select 'media servers' from the dropdown at the top.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Download handbrake and add the metadata ":frame-packing=3" to your movie file, it will take a few minutes, then try streaming again, it will automatically be on 3D(remember to use mp4 file type, no need to use a different player.
(PlayStation3 Media Server works great with DNLA)

The streaming method should matter. If the video is encoded as a SBS (side by side) picture, the 3d should recognize it and turn the 3d screen on.
If anybody is intererested, there is an Beta build for a VLC app. Works on the EVO 3D.

Just installed after getting the correct apk and seems that graphics can't keep up and audio out of sync. Can't wait for updates.

VLC isn't even that great of a video player. Media Player Classic Home Cinema is much better.
But it is nice to see a more recognizable video player for Android being developed.

This on a trailed rewiue since im doing this on my stock LG v909 but running it with (720p.HDTV.x264.mkv 1.32 GB 43:15 min)
Advanced debugging > Force chroma > YUV
Aouido output > OpenSL ES
(when running the apps only necessary for this its works fine exception for living wallpaper bg)
(if this settings work for u fine if thy dont well its in beta...)
Works ok for a locked rocket its a bit slow at parts (im so surprised) when the crap apps starts darning resources, gt get going on the sim/root ("T-Mobile without og sim" im dead in the water economically atm so any good sim unlock ides is welcome)...
will continue the rewiue when its unlocked...

I agree with this. MX video player is great.
And, there's a Chinese player called "3DVPlayer"
It works wonders. It'll play a 3D movie on a Sense 4 Rom.

You don't.
You can, but not every 3D video will work with it. The trick is choosing HW and not SW decoder.
I worked for me with a few 3D video's but not the ones I converted myself in Handbrake.

I've tried out handbrake before but I could never get it working. Freemake is a really good free video converter, and it has a bunch of settings, including the ability to save presets (and there's specific options for android, iphone, youtube, etc...)
but back on topic, why would you need to play 3D videos with an aftermarket video player anyway? I've never had a problem with the stock video player, and I've watched Tron, Avatar, and Inception all in 3D (DVD rips from discs I own ) Edit: I get it now, I didn't see you said for translation purposes before. Sorry, I haven't even tried watching 3D video in another video player.
Unrelated note, Inception 3D was the biggest waste of time. Don't bother getting it in 3D if you want to watch it, it's a pointless feature for that movie.
Because an aftermarket player is better. It got features the stock player doesn't have, like it will remember where you left when you stop watching.

Got to agree with that, Inception in 3d wasn't all that, you find yourself scanning the screen looking for the best 3d bit instead of just being wowed by the movie, which isn't half bad.
Avatar, The Smurfs (believe it or not), The final destination (good effect's poor movie), are all decent for 3D, but not too many others, an i'm going from a 47inch LED 3DTV not my phone.
