Try flashing a general unbranded rom, some continental version if you find. And root after that. I had the same problem with the Ro firmware, got an European Fw and it worked. Also try and stay below 10e to root.
As for information, Gingerbreak roots it.
You must try gingerbreak it will surely gonna root it ,but mind it its gonna root permanently, so you can't unroot again.

Yes, Gingerbreak is the solution.

Version 1.2 of Gingerbreak includes the Un-root option... so, just give it a try and report afterwards!
Gingerbreak have un-root option and it works fine. And if you flash oficial firmware with KDZ - you got un-root to.
Has anyone got SuperOneClick working to root their device?
Thanks
Kris
I tried it last night it wouldn't work

Look, I'm using the rom retail Froyo 2.2, and this unlocked bootloader, if you need more details I will step ... hugs
I recommend you try upgrading to gingerbread by ROM or with motorola software. That could fix your problem. You said you have an unlocked bootloader, but are you rooted?

I got an lg marquee for sprint (ls855) for free and I want to root. I'm pretty sure its updated as its on gingerbread 2.3.4. Is there any way to root it or flash it to boost easily if it can be rooted that way. I can't find any way to do it and I really want it rooted and/or on boost. Thanks for the help guys

I've been searching for some time now. My other phone is the Boost LG Marquee and from what I've read if your phone has been updated as of now you will not be able to root the phone. I also read that to root our phones we would have to restore the old version before the update. From there I believe super oneclick will work.
My problem is finding instructions to restore the older version.
