Just reporting that Bloat Freezer (bought it a long time ago for my old Evo 4G) works great with the new perm root and s-off. Well, that's no surprise but I just thought I'd comment about it because it took me all of 5 minutes to go through all the apps on the phone and I only froze the ones I thought were "safe" to freeze like Sprint TV, Spring Zone, HTC Likes, and a few more for a total of about a dozen. Now when I do a full reboot (with fast boot off), my phone boots in about 30 seconds. It took three times that before I froze the bloat!
Mike
I froze a bunch of things as well and did notice that it boots a lot faster.. Did not put 2 and 2 together.. Nice!

Guys, need your help. I've had this phone since launch day and am way beyond my 30-day return/exchange policy. Completely stock w/ 3 downloaded programs (bank apps) and all updates applied. Here are my problems:
1. Random rebooting or dead phone. This doesn't happen often, but I think I've narrowed it down to the GPS navigation. Sometimes after using the GPS I've witnessed the phone continually reboot every 15 minutes or so. Just laying on the table and it'll spontaneously reboot. The only way to stop it is to pull the battery. Earlier today I used the GPS for a quick trip, ended the program, then turned the phone off. About 1hr later, I tried turning the phone back on... but couldn't power on or anything. The only fix was to pull the battery.
2. The damn GPS program takes SEVERAL MINUTES to lock on. I have to pull the car over or just wait until it locks on. I thought one of the updates was supposed to fix this. WTF?
I've tried factory reset w/ no apps installed. Even took it to the Sprint store but the rep said he couldn't do anything for me since I'm beyond 30 days besides resetting the phone.
I'm really frustrated since I upgraded my plan and renewed for 2 more YEARS.... Any suggestions?
Check out the thread on battery tips. I also posted a thread about how my phone would randomly reboot or shutdown. The problem was the battery was not making full contact all the time, so I put a piece of rubber band on one side of the battery to make a more snug fit and haven't had a random reboot since.
Well I think I've created a disaster here.. sorry for the long story... It's been a LONG day.
I thought it was a cool idea to switch from the HD7 unlocked on Wind Mobile to Telus Mobility just to get the Titan. So I bought an AT&T Titan on eBay, unlocked it, got setup with Telus and was ready to roll..
Everything appeared to be going smoothly and as soon as I popped in the Telus sim card it read 4G on my screen, data worked great, voice calls perfect and I was smooth sailing.
Well just when I had to setup my phone to 99% completion ONE stubborn XBL game refused to install (PvZ). Kept asking me to retry or check my data connection even though I was on wi-fi.. So I cancelled it and retried about 10 times with no luck. Finally I gave up and did a soft reset. Well the phone stuck on "goodbye" for more than 5 min so I pulled the battery. Turned it back on at it sat at the HTC screen and would not boot past it. I pulled the battery another 10 times and same thing. So I left it over night hoping it would boot past it eventually but it only ended up draining my battery. In the morning I had to do a hard reset (holding the volume buttons) but weirdly after it did that it vibrated a bunch of times and just sat on a white screen. Again I pulled the battery. Then it did a fresh boot and the whole setup came on.
Well I went through doing my thing again... setting up, installing apps etc. But then apps stopped installing. Started getting errors saying to check my data connection again or try later. Somehow my data connection disappeared and I had to set the APN for data manually. Weird.
Well long story short is nothing has been working right. I keep hitting roadblocks during configuration and setup and end up hard resetting. Hard resets using the volume buttons always do the same thing.. cause the phone to vibrate a bunch of times and white screen and stays there. Hard resets within settings work ok as normal. But I keep getting different results. Like sometimes it will ask me to set the region and timezone on setup, and other hard resets wont. One reset caused Google to believe it was an iPhone I was using as it was clearly the iPhone version of Google home page.
And in the Marketplace sometimes I have US apps available in my region since I shouldn't and sometimes I don't. But now everytime I hard reset I don't have access to ANY HTC apps. If I go through the HTC Hub and try to get one it says it's not available in my region. Yet on my HD7 on Wind Mobile I had all of them and even did a hard reset or 2 and still got them back.
HTC Titan Forever Goodbye
While my problem is much different, there was one commonality that compelled me to post. I have an HTC Titan on AT&T and last night I was attempting to install one game and update another but it was giving me the "connect to wifi" error like you got. I tried to force it 10 or so times and it eventually worked.
However, this morning my maps would just sit at "Loading" and the phone was unresponsive at times. So I reset the phone and when I got to work the icons for most of my tiles wouldn't load, my and various other apps would crash or just sit at "loading". I didn't do any hard resets but I pulled the battery and still the same crap and trying to shutdown normally just resulted in "goodbye".
Since I am going to be sitting at my desk all day I decided I had the time to be more stubborn than the phone and just let it sit at "goodbye" for about 5-7 minutes before it actually rebooted.
EDIT: I just discovered that the app i started updating last night only made it 30%
I noticed this, that even with both of our Rezounds having been De-Sensed, and all the bloat removed, that they take an insanely long time to boot up.
One phone is unlocked and perm rooted, the other is not. Both phones have "fast boot" enabled, but they both take a solid 2 minutes to boot up and get to the lock screen.
Any idears?
You would think that not having to load Sense or any of the 20 useless bloat apps, that the phone would boot faster, but it takes longer than any phone I have ever owned, bar none.
It's the way that HTC decided to build Android on the Rezound...nothing more, nothing less. You'll probably see significantly lowered times when we get AOSP on here. I mean my OG Droid took a good minute to load until I got my first AOSP ROM(Cyanogenmod)
Mine boots in like 5 seconds from a dead power off. Fastest phone I've ever had.
If i "reboot" then it takes about a 2 minutes.
Ok, so it isn't just me then... I mean, I have a 3 year old laptop running Windows7 that takes 1/3 the time to boot up than this phone takes, which seems crazy to me.
So I guess it is better to turn the phone off and then boot it, instead of rebooting it? I will try that and time it and see what the difference is.
I was wondering this too. Good to know!

With me turning my smartphone off every night I see this long load time every day. I don't use Fastboot either.

With fastboot enabled, it will boot that fast from a power down...
I noticed this too when I first got it on launch day. I was at the bar with a friend and she had a Droid 2 and I mentioned that it takes insanely long to boot up, so I decided to set up a "race". I hit reboot about 5-10 seconds before she rebooted hers and her's was fully loaded before mine even got to the sense lockscreen! After freezing all the apps I didn't like, installing a custom ROM and using autorun manager it seemed to shorten a lot. Haven't re-tested the "race" yet though just to see if it's placebo or not.

That's like booting from hibernation on a PC

With custom ROM root and no apps my phone booted in like 30 secs. Now it takes like 1 min 45sec

My phone boots in under 30 seconds every time, even after a battery pull. I get the haptic vibrate before the LTE animation finishes. I don't use Fastboot.
then clearly you've got the one magical rezound out there, because every single rezound i've ever used and booted up takes god damn forever, including mine lol

Mine only takes 30-40 secs on fastboot to boot up.
When I power off and power back on, it's very fast, less than a minute. If I reboot, it takes a long time, 2 to 3 minutes. Strange.

Just tested mine and from the time I pushed "restart" on the reboot screen to the time the lock screen came on it took 2 minutes and 15 seconds. I then shut the phone down and from the time I pushed the power button until the lock screen came on was 1 minute and 35 seconds.
My CleanROM 1.5 boots in 42 seconds from a battery pull.

I rock SenselessROM, probably similar times? Or could it be DSB's kernel?
Has anyone tried using the ROM Toolbox Auto Start Manager to disable applications from loading at boot?
I feel like that might help out with boot times.
I too notice that doing a shut down and then cold power on takes like 30 seconds, but a reboot takes 2-3 minutes full turnaround.

duh, then NO WONDER you boot in like 30 seconds...should've said that in your first post
Power off and power on is different than a full restart. This phone goes into hibernation when you power off that's why it boots faster. Full restart or battery pull is what the post is talking about.
disabling apps from starting on boot does help boot time. Also certain roms boot faster.

So here's the story
I was downstairs, chillin out, when I notice my phone about to die. Now I had to make sure I snagged a quick screenie of my battery stats since I'm testing a new build, and seconds after I take it, it dies, which all seems normal right? No here's where things get shifty. I went upstairs to my room to put it on the charger, as its turning off, and after I few seconds the screen pops right back up. I shrugged it off thinking it was just a blip. Again, I was wrong. I let a minute or two pass, and nothing happened, so I unplugged it thinking it'd turn off almost instantaneously. I'm just wrong all over the place.
The phone stayed on.
It gave me a warning "Battery level 0% Please plug in your charger". The phone worked smoother than ever, yet I had no service, I couldn't open any apps, or folders, or the app drawer. The notification bar worked, as did the home screens and the lockscreen. Everything seemed to be just fine, yet it kept popping up "Battery Level 0%." Here I am, creeped out but intrigued at the same time. No partitions seemed to be mounted at all, yet I could seamlessly go from screen to screen with working animations and everything. I played around with it for roughly 20 minutes before it died (again?)
I think my phone might be magic..

No it's a Halloween troll
( Don't ask me for help, as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh!!!)
Gah always the trolls! Damn trolls..

The same thing happened to me that first time I had flashed a Sense 4 ROM... So strange... (a month or so ago)

The battery must not have calibrated properly. I've had similar happen before. I flashed a ROM and rebooted with 79% battery. Messed around with it for like 15 minutes and still showed 79%.
Finally like an hour later it started dropping. That's why I like to wipe battery stats on a new ROM. Even though many say it doesn't help, or make a difference. I feel it guages your battery better initially.

The rom has the command to wipe battery stats built into the flash, I mean, my battery is messed up in general lol, but still

Happened to me too, probably due to uncalibrated battery. Still fun and useful sometimes (when you're not home to charge your phone, those extra 20 mins can actually be very useful). In my case though everything worked, wifi, sim, mounts, etc
Hello XDA,
Way to start off my Friday Hope EVERYONE has a GOOD AND SAFE weekend!
PROBLEM:
Out of the blue it started to reboot itself more often, always had issues with candykatt even after few re-install and wipes. Last night, it would reboot with in 1-5 minutes after full boot and load, then the time decreased to 30 seconds. Till finally 1 second, that is if i am lucky to full boot and load. (auto attempt to reboot with multiple vibrations).Tried to load into odin and twrp, and same symptoms first will fully load into those two for 30 seconds and then auto reboot.
ATTEMPTS
Tried various batteries of various charge types percentages, stock samsung battery fully charged another 2500MAH even 5400MAH. Tried taking sim and memory card out and same thing! (debating on opening up and clean, hope just power button even though feels fine)
CANDYKATT:
I love the rom, work well for couple months with minor popular known issues, like camera not working and random but not frequent freezes. And power hungry, was waiting for updates in forum but never happened. Not as tech savy as i used to be (not my first rom, ran every blackstar and everything from GB, JB,KK and just not on this device) still a not a pro or almost out of noob stafe
XDA FAMILY HELP ME PLEASE!
would love to fix issue with out wipe or reflash at the moment to save files (did not have memory card long)
Phone:
AT&T i717
CandyKatt (Non Uber)
TWRP
64gb SD
No Other tweaks or fancy anything
All Buttons seem fine
No Rattles haha
NO WARRANTY
(Charge port messed up, no major accident besides tripped on power cord while plugged in)
Power Button
XDA World,
Attempt Power Button cleaning and pop out with screw driver (not forced). My button worked fine, looked fine and felt fine. After attempting ODIN and TWRP many times, idk what I did but re flashed and loaded into candykatt os set up. My files still there, and so far has been on for a few minutes as I transfer my photos to SD (full battery).
Uh oh random auto reboot!!! dang it
working better
I still do not know what I did, entered odin and twrp so many times (as mentioned old post). After it reflashed due my button mashing between those two, it works better random reboots even vibrating thing. But does the bad vibrations here n there until I hold power button then reboots.
And was able to sync to get photos off.
I am going to try a new rom, sorry candykatt ...promise soon as bugs are fixed I will re-install
Many times the stuck power button issue seems okay it may not be. I always tell folks to flick the phone in the back a few times, even if the button feels the click. Flick it. Some are courageous enough to take a swab and alcohol to the contacts for cleaning. Not me.
