Just curious if anybody has went ahead and applied the V6 supercharger script to P3's pre-rooted GB update and what settings they used if any different from the popular Froyo settings.
Thanks!
I have... Option 9... It works as far as I can tell... Quadrant scores jumped from a 2700 average to 2800+ average...
I think the GB update fixed the memorey issues.
I'm not experiencing any memory issues now, and I've gotten up to 2893 on quadrant and 2723 smart bench. I might give it a shot if I notice any lagging. I was thinking the same thing.
Been running the rooted version nearly 24 hours now, with out super charger. It's just not needed anymore as gingerbread seems to be actually managing the memory correctly. I've only frozen adout 12 things and I'm constantly over 100MB free, 190MB if I kill all processes.

Then why would you think it would cause a boot loop? I've never heard of v6 making any phone bootloop ever.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
I set it up with options 8 & 11. I don't know if GB benefits from it or not. But I'm guessing it does over several days.
I had Busybox 1.18.4 and that gave it fits until I replaced it with 1.18.2.

Jude, what apps did you freeze?
I froze a few apps, but the available ram is still pretty much the same as before GB... tried not using V6, but the ram went down to about 60-80 hovering...
so I re did the V6 and got about 130 on avg...
I'm not sure how some people get 100 or so free without using V6...the update did make the phone snappier though...

I was using the pre-rooted GB and running benchmarks to test the new memory management vs V6. I activated V6 and rebooted with quick boot and am now boot looping. Time to SBF back to froyo?

Throughout the night I tested out freezeing apps, I've got these 30 confirmed safe, as well as uninstalling task manager, weather 2.3.3, dlna and dlna service because freezing wouldn't stop them from running.

Yeah, this seems to be about average for me too, without freeing any RAM up that is. After freeing, I usually have around 100 or so free.
To the OP, obviously an App you are running is killing your RAM (or a combination of Apps). Get an App like "OSMonitor" to see exactly which Apps are using exactly how much RAM. Then go from there,
I really don't know why...I barely have any apps installed.
Is it possible that something went wrong during flashing roms?

Honestly, I am not a Dev or anything but I AM an IT major and have a bit of Linux experience...I do not think anything went wrong flashing ROM's, but just to play it safe, I would use Adrynalyne's all-in-one DI05.tar in Odin. Then reflash Froyo/whatever ROM you want. That will COMPLETELY wipe for you, if something is wrong, that will definitely fix it. Otherwise, stick with what I mentioned in my last post.
I will consider that as my last resort..
I really hate to wipe and set up my phone again
I installed osmonitor, but I don't know what's overusing the ram...I see android os using 70mb and about 6 apps using 20~25 each. Those apps are system apps too, such as download manager etc.
Is there a way to extract the memory usage list and post it here?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Uh, after I installed osmonitor and geanted root rights, my phone crashed 5 times...
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Android Assistant is good as well. It's free in the market & shows a clear % value in the list of what's running. Process Monitor Widget also works & will give you a snapshot recording of ram/cpu load.
My phone was doing this also. When booting I had about 160MB free RAM after level 2 clear in task manager. After about 2 hours it would go down to about 70 and I when clearing in task manager it would only go up to about 80-90. It was really annoying and would cause my phone to slow down and get hot. This is one of the main reasons I reverted back to DJ05. I tried fixing the issue with wipes and re flashing rom/kernel but nothing helps. We'll just have to wait until source is released to get better kernels.
I went back to D101 completely stock rom with nothing installed, but it still shows 210~230/325mb of ram usage...I don't know what's wrong
It's normal behavior for android, nothing's wrong.

oh... I thought my fascinate had unusually high ram usage since my friend has mesmerize and it only uses about 110mb of ram. Maybe his is the one with unusually low ram usage then..
Android keeps recently used apps in memory for quick access or things like alarms and keeps them there until it needs to free up that ram for something else. It's is generally pretty good at managing its own memory, so unless youre getting major slowdowns then I wouldn't worry about it.

The ram usage is even higher after going back to DI01 and to 2.9.2

Android is not Windows. It handles memory very differently (and better). You do not need to be concerned about high memory usage at all, as the system reclaims memory as needed when new processes are launched.

X2... Is this on an ICS ROM? My computer has Linux kernel 3.2, but GB on our phones is still 2.6..... I ran a couple of those ICS leaks, but never checked kernel version. None of them are stable enough for me, though.
Everything works in CleanRom. I had flashed chad's ICS leak kernel so that I could use no-frills cpu control, but some things got borked. No now I'm back on the one below, which does not support setcpu. Battery life is amazing though. I am going to try and use up my battery today, since I could only get it down to 40% yesterday.

We have a firmware update from Virgin Mobile. Many users have experienced issues with this, I would recommend not updating. The ADSP.img is what is important for booting the Linux 3 Kernel including with these ROMs, this should be generic between Virgin Mobile and Sprint but DO NOT take my word for it. Chad has a test kernel for those without the new firmware which only breaks 3D and USB Mount/ADB if you want to try it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639471

I've been using for over a week now, but it has only reported 21 samples. Still says nothing to report under every tab. Will try a few more weeks and hope for some results. If it weren't for the low battery life, my phone would be almost perfect!
I've got 278 samples recorded and still nada. I'm suffering from poor battery life too. I assume because I am running a beta ROM. But I thought I'd see if app this can help.

I haven't tested this at all, although benchmark scores seem to show on average a 20-30 percent increase in overall performance in both AnTuTu and Quadrant so I just assumed it was because of the second core.
What tool are you using to check this?
System Panel Lite version 1.1.2
Install system tuner (Google play) it allows you to force 2nd cpu online. Or install setcpu and turn profiles on that will force them both online

After reading it looks like you have to be rooted to use them. 1st, I am not rooted. Completely stock. 2nd, why should we have to be rooted in order to use a feature that Verizon/HTC advertised? IF that is the case then Verizon/HTC falsely advertised the phone. We shouldn't have to "force" the 2nd CPU to work. What was the point of having it installed in the first place then?

I believe the 2nd core stays offline and only comes on during heavy load of the first core. But with root you can force it online and it shares even light loads of work
Htc/verizon didn't lie its just their software is never as good as rooting and flashing a custom rom

I forced it on, and not much battery drain for the performance you get.
Haven't had any sort of lag yet.
Thanks for the info. I guess I need to read up on how to root this phone. I rooted my D1 and Charge but not this one.

I am on ICS .12 and I have never seen the 2nd CPU active. Does it actually work? If so when?

2nd CPU is on demand only. It will online when the first is heavily loaded. No need to install anything to make this happen. Dual core support is part of ICS.

download linpack and see if your single thread and multithread scores are different.
I got 41.5 single thread and 73.3 multi-thread, which seems to indicate dual core (177%)
I got 50/80 consistently 2nd core forced online

The flashable amon-ra zip does all the work of adding superuser. 2 steps, unlock via htcdev then flash amon-ra via bootloader. Done.
This thread is about the second CPU core, let's keep it that way.
Anyone confirm the mflops are the same without forcing second core on?

I don't have mine forced on.
Single threaded:
Trial 1: 45.911
Trial 2: 44.38
Trial 3: 45.986
Multithreaded:
Trial 1: 64.623
Trial 2: 67.011
Trial 3: 77.441
Soo basically no change I don't even want to try and test battery life too much effort and if they perform about the same ill just keep it off

it would've been a hilarious oversight if HTC forgot to enable the second core on a flagship phone.

Well either its enabled, or the one core that's running is pretty damn powerful
