Now that we have s-off how do we fix the volume - HTC EVO 3D

cause I keep missing phone calls...theres gotta be a way to turn this thing up to 11 without QPST

Kernel. Boosted volume kernel coming soon.

You can use volume plus or qpst. Probably not the solution your looking for but its a quick fix in the mean time.

Volume+ (free) and QPST
I used both the Volume+ (free) and QPST method to try to increase my speaker volume. My E3D is rooted. No custom ROM. Volume+ helped only slightly maybe 10% and QPST did nothing. I am wondering if anyone has noitced an improvment in speaker volume using custom ROMS.

Don't know if you did the qpst mod correctly but I can definitely post it works. I set all of the volume settings to three and there's a dramatic improvement on playing music, receiving calls and threw hulu/fancast on the stock browser. Also if I enable volume plus I have to keep it set fairly low or risk speaker damage. The mod works.

What ringtone are you using? I can hear mine ring just fine (I use "crank ringtone" from the Zedge app).
Playing videos can be a bit low, however.

Defo did the QPST correctly, I have it set to 4 on all things. Becuase my ringtone is so low I use a "56K Modem dialing up" ringtone. I chose this because it covers a lot of sound frequencies and its extra annoying so i notice it. I find media to be quite low overall.

volume plus and qpst dont work ...qpst works for some people not everbody i dont know why but i know one thing the volume on evo 3d really sucks

I didn't even know there was a problem with the volume. Mine is just fine...

Man you mean they didn't work for you.
I can 100% tell you they do. Version 1.7 volume plus work on the evo3d. Also I can't see the program qpst that works directly with the phones hard ware failing to increase the volume. Im going to say its user error.

the guy who posted how to increase the volume using qpst mentioned that qpst fix doesnt work for all people with evo 3d ...if u think u know more than him please share with us so we won't make the same "user error "

If your rooted try Volume+ from the market it fixed it for me and I had 2 phones I tried the QPST fix with and it didnt work for either of them.

i dont know why people are getting offended when we say the volume really sucks on evo 3d ...its not like we own different phone and just talking **** about your phone ...we own the SAME phone ...lol

ok guys ..if u are saying that voulme plus works ..can u share with us the settings that increase the ringtone volume ...thanks

MIUI 1.7.8 in-call volume tweak!!

I just found out that there is a tweak for adjusting the in-call volume.
Simply lower the volume to the minimum and then higher the volume to the max then you will have louder in-call volumes.
I don't know if it would work for everyone, but it works for me!!
Doesn't work for me. Though I wish it did. In-call volume is really low. I wonder where the code is to fix it, 'cause I'd gladly lend a hand.

Did you flash the latest version that andmer posted and the 7/4 OTB .13 kernel?

I did. I can adjust my in-call volume, but it's still really quiet. Could just be who I talked to, though. I'll keep trying and testing. I'm glad that we can finally adjust it though. Wasn't fun talking to people on the phone while driving. Too much background noise!

Follow andmer and jt's installation guide and try re-flashing the rom and kernel!
Is there anyway to get the volume up? I can't flash kernels. Phone hates it. Don't know why.
I've been running MIUI 1.7.8 since Saturday & although it's great otherwise - the phone audio issue is driving me mad. I can hear everyone else just fine - but no one can hear me unless I put the phone in speakerphone mode. Using the handset, the audio is extraordinarily low.
I searched and found the new phone.apk, mms.apk, and libaudio.so, with the latest 7/4 OTB .13 kernel, installed the kernel first, then the new apk's, I even went to the EC09 modem, but still people cannot hear me. I tested it by recording a voicemail message and I could only hear what I was saying if I was on speaker, no other time.
Can anyone help?

Well, it works for me so, if you want to try, follow my installation steps:
1) Download MIUI.us_fascinate_1.7.1.3_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip from http://goo-inside.me/miui/fascinate/; nemesis2all OTB .13 Kernel (1400Mhz one); Most recent update for MIUI 1.7.8;
****And put BOTH file in your sdcard directory****
2) Odin back to stock DL09 (DON'T FORGET TO RE-PARTITION)
3) Update to ED04 by OTA
4) Flash the CWM provided in jt's CM7 thread
5) Flash MIUI.us_fascinate_1.7.1.3_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip
*** This will restart the phone and bring you up the orange CWM ***
6) When orange CWM loads, reflash the MIUI.us_fascinate_1.7.1.3_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip
7) Full reboot
8) Using power key -> Restart -> Recovery, reboot into recovery mode (orange CWM)
9) Flash MIUI.us_fascinate_1.7.8_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip
10) Don't reboot yet! Flash the OTB kernel right after MIUI rom
11) Reboot
12) Try to change the sound as directed on first post!
13) Done.
Hope it works!
For replacing the phone.apk and mms.apk there's a specific direction on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150045 around pages 40~50.
Somehow this worked for me......I got about a 40% boost in volume, so I can hear people fine even out and about. I think it's even a little loud when not outside as I set it to about 75% .
Edit: I spoke too soon, it seems like the audio reverted after the call ended since on my second call volume was still low and not as loud as the call before. I'm sure jt and andmer will fix it though so I can live with low volume.

[Q] Ringer volume changing on its own

already found discusion about this issue in here about one year ago,but no solution...anyone else having the same problem: ringtone volume decreasing itself??
have no any app.related with system volume, and my evo is no rooted, original latest ROM ..
thank you
Just to be sure... Theres a function under sound settings that will decrease ring volume when you pick/move the phone. If you are aware of that, then someone else hopefully will help.
no,is not the issue...no matterif is on or off, volume still mixed up and changing itselfs
Does it happen even when you reset phone to factory default settings without installing anything? Maybe some app is messing with it. Please link me to thread that you've found about that issue.

ther is it my friend:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377266&highlight=ringer+volume
Thats really weird. You should send it to warranty service and ask to investigate issue as it seems to be factory defect. If its OS fault somehow, you can always wait for ICS update and see if it works properly after Im curious about that.
I have a similar issue and I suspect it's the same as yours. I just chose to ignore it though... What I've noticed is sometimes when pressing the volume buttons on the side to increase the ringer volume, it might automatically jump to the maximum volume without anything in between. When it does this, it will briefly act as if it's at max volume. But then go back to being just increased by one level instead. If it makes the in between adjustments on it's way to max volume, then the volume won't "change" on me magically. It is a bug, but not sure why it's there. I've seen this happen on I think every ROM I've tried (which is a handful) and the stock one.
Now in terms of MEDIA volume being different across the board. I haven't really figured this works quite yet, but it seems like media volume is remembered between activities/apps. Volume for my music is always different than the volume of videos I'm watching on a website with the flash player and different than the volume for playing games. This I feel is a feature more than a bug and am happy to have it.
I hope this sheds some light to your problem. I know it's no solution, but might help you identify what's happening to see when the volume does change.
Thats what I thought...just will try to set max.volume in every posible app. and players

Im not using that app...just check system volume settings and ringer level volume is the same as notification volume ..same when you tick :use incoming call volume for notifications..but I didnt...looks like system ignoring separatelly settings for both volumes and using same level no matter if you choose this option..

Service mode and Audio menu (modem patch?)

Hi
I really hope I can find an answer here. My speaker volume during call is too low, especially when I use it during driving.
Apps like Volume+ cannot solve this as they only boost the overall volume, and the results are not good enough (cal vol still too low, ring tome distort)
So I tried to boost spk vol using service/engineering mode menu
Dialed code *#*#197328640#*#* and taped optin 5 - Audio. But nothing happens. I looked it up and it turns out that Samsung blocked the Audio menu for some unknown reason. It also turns out that ths limitation is coded in the modem used. So I changed the modem to onld KI3 (GB modem). Amazingly it worked. Audio menu unlocked and I could change the max spk vol from 88 to 100 and my spkr during call was boosted and sounded just great...
BUT, my signal reception and bat draining is the worst I ever had. Plus, I cannot install a matching RIL because this is a GB based modem and I'm running ICS 404.
So, since the audio menu blocking is a modem related issue, I there any way to patch/hack an ICS modem.bin to unlock the service mode audio menu??? I've searched the entire internet and this entire forum and could not find an answer. There are so many fine and talented devs here, I wonder why no one has found a workaround for this. Is it technically possible to restore the audio menu in service mode? Is where are all these settings saved? I noticed there is a system app named servicemode.apk. Could this be patched? Is there a config file that holds all the menu settings?
I promise to buy a full case of beer to any dev who will find a solution to this. Also I cannot understand why samsung set the max spk vol to 88%and not 100%...?
Thanks
If you flash the old modem, change the volume then flash a newer modem does it not retain the volume settings? It worked with me for WBAMR settings.

Thanks. Already tried that. WBAMR works, but not with audio settings. In fact, even if you leave the old moden, audio settings get reset to default after each reboot... I really don't know samsung so anxious to prevent us from changing audio settings.. And why are they setting all max volume to only 88 or 86%???
To bad no one cares about this and try to do something... There must be a way to decompile modem.bin and unlock it.. I wish I knew how...
Fair enough. I tested it myself as I find the handset volume too quiet in many calls myself. If it was just possible to get into the audio menu then a Tasker script can be used to automate resetting the volume to 100 or whatever after every reboot. It's getting the audio menu that's the problem.
I don't understand wtf it would be locked out, why??!

So no one did fix this nor find a solution? I have used Omega rom for a year, and volume settings did work from STweaks. But after I did reflash on the same rom, same kernel, these setting do not work on in call volume. I mean, yes, ringtones are louder and other sound, but talking on the phone in a bit loud place in pain in....
I don't remember what modem I had, but I always thought it's newest one. Now I can't enter AUDIO menu, and cannot boost incall volume...
This may be because of some APK that samsung has in it's rom. When I installed Omega, "in this time" I tried NOT to install Samsung crap programs, and made thing simple. Maybe that is because of some missing APK?
Please gurus, help me, this is just stupid and making me crazy.
P.S.
This forum sometimes feels like dead one..

Microphone volume low/muffled

I've had this issue since the galaxy s2 released and first bought it. Anytime someone calls me they say im whispering or talking to softly into the phone and I literally have to yell into the phone just so that they can hear me. I am looking for working suggestions on how to fix this. I have tried http://www.ctrlplusz.com/2011/06/fix-for-low-microphone-volume-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s-ii/

What firmware are you on? Ics,Jb ? Try dorimanx and up the level by a few db. Also have you had a chance to change network and see if its network problem. Even a modem change could possibly help.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am using 4.1.2 on neat roms latest v4.8. I have tried various modems such as kg2/kg6 i am currently using lpj. I'm also using philz kernel. I haven't noticed any difference at all my signal is fine it is around -60dbm. Don't quite follow upping the db with dorminax?
In stweaks you can change mic db. 8.xx for 4.1.2 not 9.xx try and see. Have a read about dorimanx.

I'm very sure its not the mic problem .....its something related to the mic settings(modem settings ) .....
Any pro please guide me to solve this problem. Please help.

Hate to bump my old thread but i'm still having this issue. I've opened the phone and removed the rubber hood over the mic and have seen no improvement. I also have dorimax installed with the mic volume level at 8db and still it sounds like im muffled and far from the phone;/
I would advise to use apollo regular kernel and install appollo configrator from play store and increase the volume.
