Hi guys
Just wondering would there be a gb update for the x10a?
Also the official GB roms wont work with bb65 would it?
Thanks
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
There will be a GB update for all variations of X10 (eventually) apart from maybe carrier locked devices.
hve u tried flashing pre-rooted version...??
currently on cobrato's miui, really don't see a need to move to official GB until the camera's ported. just wondering if anyone else tried it that's all
i guess i just have to wait a fair long time for the x10a version...

Yes.
It doesn't matter because all firmwares after v2.1 include both (software) radios for "a" and "i".
NOTE: Flashing an "i" firmware onto your "a" phone does NOT give you "i"-frequency 3G support (and vice versa). (Hardware) radios are FIXED and cannot be changed by firmware flashing.
v2.3 Update on my Canadian Rogers X10a:
I understand that it will work. I was using. 67 baseband for a while. But I find baseband such as. 65 is more optimised. I'll are how patient I am....

Hi everyone. For those of you who have an X10a, who's planning on flashing to 2.1 X10i software as soon as it's available?
Bin4ry and MarylandCookie have recommended against it, in favour of waiting for an X10a specific 2.1 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823115. However, I know we're all impatient and want to get new FW ASAP. We also know that in 1.6 ROMs it was not an issue to have an X10a flashed with X10i FW, and in the end, it didn't seem to affect anything, despite the different basebands.
I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread open for anyone to warn others if it brought disastrous results.
So, let's have it: anyone planning on flashing immediately with 2.1 Nordic?
Just want to add my stuff here
You MAY get Baseband issues. So the firmware and everything else should run well, but depends on the carrier you have you can get problems with 3G.
But i personally think that you will be able to flash back to 1.6 everytime using flashtool again, but that is not 100%. Maybe you have to wait for original X10A 2.1 to correct baseband.
Regards
Bin4ry
No point screwing up your phone not having SEUS support. Just debrand using the latest LAM firmware and wait till the official 2.1 is out.
SE LAM stated last week that they were still on target for a late Oct launch so it wouldn't surprise me if it gets released on Monday.
I am waiting....what is an extra day or two anyways...
Well you should be able to extract the baseband from the LAM f/w and then use the Generic Global
Or just wait for Rogers lol and have a seperate thread for the wait on that!!
No point in taking the risk, chances are that someone will try it right away and post the results within 10 minutes of the update anyways, so I'm going to just sit back and let someone elses phone be the lab rat haha.

Why would X10i users wait for the X10a. Can you quote exactly what it is they "warn against"?

The potential problems are with X10a phones running an X10i rom but you already know that since the title of the thread is phrased correctly. Just want to avoid further confusion there...

He meant x10a users waiting for x10a firmware. Seems to have been a misunderstanding here. This point was referring to x10a users flashing their handsets with the Nordic x10i release of 2.1 but were advised to wait for the LAM release or their Rogers.
Hi guys can please someone let me know whats going on? My question is why u dont advise flashing an x10a with x10i? My phone was originaly the stock rogers one and was x10a but to debrand it i used 026 x10i rom a few months ago and now its 026 x10i global generic. So can i flash this 2.1 rom?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
In a nutshell we had x10a baseband for 1.6 but for 2.1 we dont.
You could try flashing it without the x10i 2.1 baseband but we dont know how that will go down and how that will affect functionality of 3g, radios, mediascape etc so we advised against it. At your own peril .... lol

There are files on those guides to change back to X10a, and it's my understanding that if you've flashed a to i or vice versa you can't use SEUS to update.

My bad. The first X10i should be an X10a. Edited.
As for assurances that it can be reversed... I'm confident that even if it doesn't work, someone here with figure out a way to reflash X10a firmware... but the bottom line is that it is unlikely that it will be irreversible, but we cannot know until someone tries.

Anyway, I think you're fine mate, as long as you flash back an X10a firmware. People say that SEUS doesn't work if you 'cross-flash' but maybe you can just wait till Sunday evening and see if u don't get any update, and then flash back

IMO, I think we are perfectly fine with the x10i 2.1 version coming out (if we can flash it)
There is a possibility for it to go screwy but I think we proved it won't by using previous x10i roms on x10a. I honestly doubt that they would have changed this, if they were this concerned about it then 2.2 would be out.
I hope my intuitions are correct I'll probably try it first day (just not the first person )
Right, I'm really confused?
Not with all the flashing, branding, debranding and all that jazz, That's easy. I got my x10 in the UK, On the Orange network.
I've had it ages and didn't really look at the box or under thebattery whether it was an x10a or x10i until recently. On the phone it said the firmware was x10a but when I checked the box etc I noticed it says x10i. It's flashed to x10i firmware now and global generic blah blah blah.
When I first tried SUES I got the not being able to update deal but now I can, I've used it a few times. Anyone any ideas on it and what it's meant to be lol?
The difference between the two are the 3g bands they support. X10a supports att's 3g. X10i supports t-mobile. In the USA at least.

I was more confused as to why the firmware was x10a while meant to be x10i
Did you flash the X10a rom to it? All UK phones should be X10i.

If you followed every step then that's why it ended up as an X10a, and as far as I know SEUS won't run if you've flashed a to i or vice versa.

The SE official ROM is 2.3.3 the extra .3 you refer to is a carrier specific update (I think) so if you want to know if there is a 2.3.3.4 you need to speak to your carrier...

when SE released their version or 2.3.3 it was first sent to the carriers (Vodafone, rodgers, at&t etc) for them to tweak as they wanted. For example, google release 2.3.3, SE then tweak it by adding SE apps (Timescape etc) then it goes to vodafone who put vodafone apps onto it...
the extra .3 in your version maybe the version from your phone network provider, it has nothing to do with the google or SE version....
I have not lost hope that SE update my phone to the new version of android,
perhaps this hope die with my phone.

Hi guys,
I have a Sony Xperia U (st25i) and the bootloader is locked
So i've gathered I can't root the phone unless i'm in ICS. This is the problem tho... I am with T-Mobile and am currently running Android 2.3.7.
My question is, in my current situation how do I upgrade to ICS (T-Mobile says I have the latest upgrade) also i'm assuming once i'm in ICS I can do some fancy stuff than compared to the Android version I'm in right now !!
Thanks for any help guys.

Hi bz786,
I was in a similar situation like you. had a Xperia U and SIM locked to a company. Instead of endless waiting for the company to release the ICS, I just did flash by myself.
Well... there would be no fancy stuff anyway.. unless you root it and install a custom ROM cuz the stock ROM or company ROM always uses up most of the tight 512M ram cap...
Cheers,

Hey bz786!
Dont worry you can flash the firmware yourself using the programm "flashtool". Just do some research in google. And here is a link for a .54 firmware and "root-tuorial" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34983966

Thanks guys! I went ahead and used flashtool but... now I have a problem
So once ICS was installed I was ecstatic however my 3G was not working. So what I did was go to the phone settings and download the internet settings again but now the 3G is much slower than previously on Gingerbread. I think I messed something up with the baseband or installed a firmware which has the incorrect firmware settings (for me).
Does anyone know where I can download (UK, UNITED KINGDOM - This is a must I think for the 3G) Sony Xperia U ST25i T-Mobile ICS stock ROM? (Wow that's a mouthful LOL)
Thanks guys!

Hi there, I believe it has something to do with the area / country in which it was sold, and also the frequency bands for 3G (so in short different areas have different frequency's for phones) .
(I use a X10I rom on my X10A and there seems to be no difference for me .)

I would not recommend doing that if your phone seems to work fine, and if you are having problems with your phone you normally can use Sony pc companion to reinstall the firmware.
The only reason mine runs an X10I firmware is because my phone got bricked and the X10A firmware would not work.

Hi... i have a x10i and i am looking for a rom to flash into it, but i don´t know how to do it...
i´m searching forum´s to learn...
can you tell me what rom did you install and the steps?
i´m looking for a rom that transform my 2.3.3 android into a 4, or something like that...
Thanks!
Flashing a x10i rom to my x10a phone switched the working bands from:
umts_bc1, umts_bc2, umts_bc5, umts_bc6
to
umts_bc1, umts_bc4, umts_bc8
Then in order to reconfigure the bands I flashed x10a rom, but It don't worked ¿what's wrong with my phone?
