No Need To Supercharge Anymore - GB - Motorola Droid X2

First off, I want to say that this is just MY experience so far, and I really appreciate all that Zeppelin has done. With that being said, I have found my newly Gingerbread'd X2 to run amazing now, and actually not as good when the script is running.
With the script (on MegaMemory 2 + Bulletproof Launcher) my phone seems to run worse. Available RAM hovers around 70 to 85 at any time. Once I remove it, I average anymore from 95-120 and my phone feels super snappy.
This is just my experience with it so far, as I might go back to using it some time.
Has anyone else noticed that Moto fixed the memory issues with GB? I absolutely love how my phone runs now. Of course the preroot from P3 makes things even more better...

I'm running my own values...something like: 6, 15, 100, 130, 160, 180... lol
I have been trying out different things...I have about avg 130 available most of the time. Maybe its the values I'm using...
For sure want to know how some people said the had 200 free just on GB!

Yeah, its running great for me just stock gingerbread. I have a little under 200 after a fresh boot, average around 120 or so, and it may dip as low as 60 but gingerbread frees it right back up. Much better.
I think this has helped the sound stuttering issues, but I still have them even though not quite as frequently.

Gingerbread just did a world of awesome on this phone. So many little things are tweaked and I love it.
For example: The running services screen and the battery usage screen

I Deleted Everything. Inside Titanium It Shows System ROM That Went From 170Mb To 230Mb, Then After Deodexing I'm Up To 271Mb Free.

just curious... what are the default minfrees?
Of course, if they are more aggressive then what you were supercharging with, you'd have more free ram.
If you want to compare apples to apples, you'd plug the default minfrees into V6 and see if there's a difference either way.
As it is, sounds like apples are being compared to oranges.

That makes no sense to have more free ram with lower minfree values.
Nevertheless, more free ram = less multitasking
Would you mind running getprop in terminal and posting results?

Zep, first want to say thank you for all the hard work and not to disagree with Mike but my GB minfrees are very different
12 18 36 82 89 97 for the stock GB update.
If I got it right I've attached a couple of System Tuner before and after screen captures. I'm running rooted GB on DX2 with no bloat frozen or removed.

Thanks.. yeah secondary server are set to be killed at 20mb then since it's slot 4 in stock GB

If that's the case, secondary server is getting killed at 82 mb (slot 4) which is indeed more aggressive than MegaRAM 2 since they get killed at 75 mb in slot 3.
So, for a fair comparison, you'd custoomize with
6,12,82,89,97,125 mb

[Q] Can I change model name in the ROM? (for T-Mobile mobilTV)

I have a problem with my GSM prvider here in Hungary.
I can't use my mobileTV at T-Mobile.
WebNwalk side always says "Not supported device",but it's supported here as a T-Mobile G2 Touch.
Service told me that my phone won't work, because T-mobile server see it like a "unsupported" HTC Hero.
So if I want to use my MobileTV,then I have to install the official T-Mobile ROM...or...as I think, if I can change the name of my phone, maybe I can use it with custom ROMs.
Anyone can help me in this situation?
If you know what is being checked, you can probably change a build.prop string to match the stock T-Mobile one.
Any ideas? A logcat might give a clue
Moved to Q&A
Will make a log, but can You recommend me a good wap browser for this phone, opera use wap pages in a weird way.
Maybe it's also a good option to take the webnwalk app from the T-Mobile ROm, if it's also possible...

Maybe Yes,but I dunno,because I don't have it.
Just I read on T-Mobile site that I have to open webnwalk and then go to here or go to there...
But I can't open wap sites with the stock browser. (Villain ROM 12)
I have to use Opera Mini, but it handle wap sites with a little paranormal activity.
(It handels URLs separated by enter as one...so I can't open URLs, because it shows a message: "unsupported phone" so I can't even open test streams, movie trailers on the T-zones site)

Hmmm. It looks like you are having Opera Mini crashing, though I can't be sure. Could you explain what you were doing when you took this log, to confirm what I'm seeing (much of it is routine rubbish you get all the time)
I think you need to change the browser UserAgent to view the t-mobile site on the stock browser. There's a guide somewhere on the forum.
Thanks for editing.
I just started Opera Mini, went to the T-Zones site, opened MobilTV site, free video page (but when i click on it, marks the links as one...) and then it say's it unsupported phone, then i quit from Opera, then kill all the apps.
That's all I did.
I attached screenshots. (1st one with false link marking, 2nd with "unsupported..message)
Edit: Also tried changing UserAgent, I just won't show wap pages correctly. ( wap.t-zones.hu )

OK. I think we need to change the User Agent in the stock browser for this to work. There's a post somewhere about this.
So I can't do anything?
Tried Useragent in every possible way....

Umm. There's a way to do this IIRC. You need to edit a /data/data file and change the user agent string to what T-Mobile's browser uses. I can't remember the file name, but it's mentioned somewhere on here.
You edit it and change the UA string itself, then it should allow you to use the android browser on the site.

[Q] Video recording

The video recorded are very slow (18 fps, not 30 like lg write), anyone can make an apk or other thing to upgrade the quality video of O1? Thanks!
Welcome to the harsh reality my friend!
Yes teh video is very choppy and has really bad sound but as of now nothing can be done.
You can download and use "lgcamera" from the market. It records much better sound and people have had better results with it. For me tho, the framerate still sucks. But meh. Learning to live with it
Uhh, how about recording at a lower resolution? 320x240 videos have an acceptable framerate. But that's too small a resolution for today's standards xD

Nah. Even at qvga the framerate is about the same. Plus the bitrate drops down considerably. Less than 500 kbps. So all in all Video Recording does suck. If LG can do something about it in Gingerbread it would be nice. If they dont its still ok. I mean its a budget android. I can live with it.
I wonder where is the framerate for video recording set in the system files. We already have an application that can record at higher FPS, but there's another limit set somewhere because no matter what we choose in the app's settings the FPS is stuck at 17-18 max. And with an overclocked CPU, 25 frames per second should be sustainable.
@kpbotbot: you've managed to find the compression settings for the camera snapshots. Is there any chance to figure out where the video settings are stored?
I'll check at build.prop. It defines the JPEG quality(tried and works) and a few params for video recording(still have to figure out). That may help
I saw the framerate settings in build.prop but chaging them has no effect.
Maybe somewhere else. Can you senior guys look into it or ask other devs to look into it. If its not too much work ofcourse.

Kewl! I was just editing my post with a request for you
As is said. Changing the params in build.prop did not have any effect for me. You guys try. Maybe it works for you. I sure hope it does!
Quick replies ftw. I just edited my previous post.
Anyway, I'll see what I can change. Can't do really deep stuff tho. I'm no coder.
Also, dropping a few stuff in favor of some stuff in build.prop might do something. Just a hunch.
Yep! FTW dear sir, FTW!
But we seem to be the only people interested in video and camming performance of our O1. If only a coder and a dev had interest in it. Even if we weren't able to improve anything atleast we would have gotten some answers!
I remember altering all aspects of the camera driver(modded by some devs) of my K750i to include features like longer shutter speed even! So if a dumbphone can do it, a smartphone should too.
I wonder if the camera driver has something to do with it!
Cam sux in p500 imho

This + lgCamera from market = the best possible video I can get from my P500. The only still-bad thing is FPS. Otherwise it is quite good! I use following settings:
* Resolution: 640x480
* Video encoder: MPEG4
* Video file format: MPEG4 or H264 - both work
* Video bitrate: 3Mbit (try more, but it doesn't seem to have any effect)
* Framerate: auto
* Audio encoder: AAC
The sound is great (MPEG4 or H264 run on 44.8khz! The second one does 38Khz, but still great!)
Does this work for you? Does for me!

I am afraid, that FPS is controlled directly by camera driver and SD speed

Hi,
I tried my favourite launcher (original Launcher2 ripped from nexus s).
It was installed (I copied it to /system/app), but it don't work. Logcat output don't show anything wrong IMO.
Any idea how to get it running?

If it is the same problem as I have and you can select to launch the home but all it comes up with is a black screen just tap the screen where the app launcher button should be then you will see the app drawer then tap home button on the app drawer and you should see the launcher
Oh man..thank you, it works. Where did you got your version? I was planning to try launcher2 from sdk...
//edit
Well..black screen is back if you run any program. Must be something with opengl.
//edit2
launcher from sdk works, but is not accelerated

Video Recording 1080p60fps

Hello,
The leeco le max 2 have the sony imx230 sensor. So the phone could record in 1080p60fps. Its written in the product brief. Why no one goes for programm it ?
many old phones are able to record with 60fps . i would be happy if i get this feature too
Need 60 FPS badly
I haven't delved too deep into the technicalities however i do know that the sensor supports this ****. Since the Exmor RS series even supports HDR Video, that would be good to see too beside the 1080p and 720p @60 fps with quite some manual control over the video quality parameters as currently 720p @120fps produces too much sharpened video which is quite useless if you ask.

Have you tried freedcam there should be a HDR video option
Sent from my NX503A using XDA Free mobile app
one questions :
By now the majority of high-end devices using Snapdragon processors, so with a good ROM could solve many problems. Take for example the camera, the same used by Xperia Z3 +, yet the difference in photo quality is clearly different; so it is something that can be solved by software because the hardware used is that, do not you think?

Well, i am not concerned with HDR video right now. What wanted was that since the camera sensor of my phone i.e. Sony's Exmor RS IMX 230 is capable of 1080p @60 fps and 720p @120 fps, i must be able to save the video at those frame rates. I can shoot 1080p at whatever fps i want (upto the max fps value provided by the app which is 1/32000, though that seems quite pointless and i highly doubt if it's actually anywhere around 1/500 or anything)video using open camera or proshot apps, but the video finally saved is 30 fps at max. That is the issue.
Can record @high fps but can save at only 30.
Sorry to bump this thread but I would like to see if there has been any development in this?
Even on the custom roms the snapdragon camera has no option for 60fps.

Well, i don't know if it's because of what i did or by default, but while on my search rampage to achieve 60 fps, i followed some post suggesting to edit a build.prop file or something similar i don't remember, so i put in some 60 fps values in that file manually, however it didn't work. So, could that be a possibility that you have found those values in these files??
"download camera parameters and dump camera parameters wanna see what it spits out could be camera 2 enabled and its returning basic params" Would need a little guidance here.

I can clearly see its now returning all the Qualcomm parameters. hfr-size-values and video-hfr-values shows that 60fps should now work as well HDR video
Try freedcam from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=72033474
Uninstall Previous Version then install this do not try install it over previous install then it should detect video-hfr-values and in menu by video profiles look for 1080phfr then switch to movie/video mode in mode selection and tap on record if it says fails start record try snap cam/snapdragon camera for some reason some QC devices refuse to work in hfr mode on freedcam but 60fps should work
Sent from my NX503A using XDA Free mobile app
Hello. I was interested in this topic.
I tried that freedcam on RR rom and although it said 60fps recording option on 1080phfr , when i would press start button, the app crashes.
So i tried on rom 23s chinese and the app doesn't crash, but it says it cant record

Sound of video camera and recordings / calls are heard very low, any solution?

calls very low, record sound and record video very low (camera front & camera normal sound pretty low ):C
(Rom RRemix 7.1.2 last build [28/05/2017])
Try this in your build.prop, it solved my problem for custom ROMs. Thanks to @ErycRider.
