Rom manager isn't recognizes that I have clockworkmod recovery. Is rom manager useless for now until updated? Anyone else having similar issues? Help is appreciated!
I always had this issue with the manager, if you reflash it, the problem will leave. Rom manager doesn't check to see if you already have recovery, AFAIK.

i think CWM was built specifically for the evo by alpha, so right now they probably cant support the phone. so you will have to wait a while for CW to impliment the EVO 3D

He said it's installed, but the manager, doesn't know it's installed already. I'm gushing it's asking him to install it again, when he uses it.

My opinion: Just stay away from rom manager (except to fix permissions). I know its "easier", but you will have much less headaches just doing it manually. Trust me.

Ok cool. Sorry Sheathunderboilt wasn't trying to be a jerk. I was just starting to wonder if the confusing wording of the questions was intentional.

reinstall rom manager and flash one ot the older cwm like the 4.0.1.5 not the 5.x.x.x
Try reflashing Clockwork recovery by following the instructions in this thread. It sounds like your recovery got screwed up or wiped out somehow. Use version 5.0.2.1. I think the version 5 issues are fixed in that one. If you still have issues try using one of the version 4.x ones.

How many people have unlocked using HTC's method? And how did it work? You like it?
I did...on a Mac at that too. It was easy...no problems.
I've done it on my win7 machine. Process went smoothly, no problems. Only draw is you have to use fastboot to flash ramdisks/kernels. no biggie

Me. I used the HTCevohacks method. I just liked the fact that he included all the stuff in one download rather than downloading multiple things from HTC.
Everything works well. The fact that you have to boot into recovery through fastboot is a bit annoying. Can't just download a ROM manager, download a ROM and flash it. But it isn't too bad.
I've got infected ROM with ziggy kernel and OC to 1.6. No problems.

sucks to have to boot into recovery from fastboot boot every time i wanna flash a nightly tho...

It "shouldn't" affect the insurance unless it can be proven that your mods are what caused the problem with you phone. Hard to prove and can be hard to disprove.
That's the only reason I am waiting for a non-HTC method of rooting. I like to keep the rooting under the radar just so they don't have a chance to use it against me some day. Call me paranoid.

Ok so i just ordered my new HTC EVO 3D off ebay since my EVO is officially done, so my question is, after looking through the DEV section ive seen a lot of information on TWRP recovery and im wondering are there other options like with the EVO.
For instance the EVO had TWRP, Amon RA, CWM, ect..
The reason i ask is because ive had a pretty bad experience with TWRP so im reluctant to use it with this phone when i get it.
I used clockwork before I got twrp 2.0

I made a handful of code commits to TWRP at the beginning of the project.. The project was started as Amon RA announce he was "retiring" essentially from updating his recovery to work with EMMC devices.
The EVO 4G was an MTD device so Amon's recovery worked well. The EVO 3D is an EMMC device so Amon's recovery would not work.
Personally, I've had good success with CWM as it is consistent across devices and I haven't had issues with it across the handful of Android devices I've had.
Ultimately, the decision is up to you. I only use the basic features in the recovery, adb shell access from recovery mode, nandroid backup/restore and ability to process a .zip. These three basic features I use are essentially the same or at minimum very similar across the different recoveries.
Different custom recovery's will offer different features, different support and different UI/themes.
Hope that helps! Good luck!
I use clock work mod. Alot of others use Twrp but I rooted my phone with the old revolution method and I have never had any problems with cwm.
I can't get clockwork to stick for some reason. Haven't figured it out yet but twrp is awesome.
I haven't compressed the backups but it's a nice feature that saves space. And I read that 2.0 is crazy fast at backing up and restoring. Took me 1592 seconds to restore the recovery partition tonight. Long ass time.

I tried twrp 2.0 didn't like it, it would quit in the middle of a wiping process and I would have to reboot into recovery again but it does have a touchscreen interface so some might find that useful. I used CWM like somebody else in this thread said it wouldn't stick I had the same problem. My favorite is twrp 1.1.1 never had any problems at all and the best part is you can flash multiple zips all at once. Oh! one more thing. I found out when using CWM wiping davlik cache would sometimes not work.
Twrp is my vote non touch version

what do you mean by that I dont know what you are talking about when you use the clockworkmod you do not need to add periods or question marks to your sentences
Finally broke down and bought this app. Price tag is a little high considering you can get all the separate applications free, but not all under one roof. But that brings me to my question.
Have you or anyone else you heard of had issues with any of the programs in rom toolbox? Ad blocker has been a little inconsistent for me. Know he has been working on it though.
Does the boot screen changer work? Had any issues with font changer? Just want to know before I run into the same thing. Some of it is a little dangerous to run without being optimized for the phone. Especially the EVO LTE.
Any info would be appreciated. Please share any positive / negative effects you've had. Thanks!
It all works for me.. Some things such as the status bar icon installer might look a little goofy on Sense ROMs(I'm on cyanogemmod so I haven't tried it) but everything else should work. Its all mostly fundamental android tools that should work on any phone, EVO, GS3, or otherwise.

Another question unrelated to rom toolbox. In titanium backup pro u are supposed to be able to restore all apps & data at once. I've looked in settings and preferences but can't find it. Does it come up when u are restoring?
Pretty much the only reason I bought it was for the one click restore.

Which ROM are you running? I haven't tried it on a Sense ROM so I can't say for sure but that's all I can think of that might interfere with it. The tool basically just takes the animation and puts it into the right folder in the root of your phone.
I know on my old Hero it was stored a little different on some ROMs so that some boot animations with sounds and stuff caused issues.
Point is, its probably ROM based, not hboot related.
Edit: If you check the boot animation installer settings you can change the target of where its installing the animation. If you can find out where its installed on your ROM there's no reason for it not to work as long as you're rooted.
Edit#2: If on a sense ROM change the destination to /system/customize/resource/
And then change from bootanimation.zip to *scratch that, read post below for the right .zip name*
No guarantees it'll work but it looks like that's where its stored on a Stock w Goodies ROM I have on my SD card. I took the bootanimation from it and installed it on my paranoid android ROM and it worked so it should work the other way around.

Boot animations just require root, and you have to tell rom toolbox the path/filename of the boot animation zip that the rom is looking for.
For sense-based roms on evo lte, that is
/system/customize/resource/SPC_bootanimation.zip
That filename is actually mutable. It's defined in /system/customize/CID/default.xml
So go into rom toolbox, boot animations. Then hit menu, Install Locations.
Common locations: "HTC EVO 4G"
That loads the other two settings with defaults that are closest to correct. Directory is correct, and you only have to modify the filename slightly from bootanimation.zip to SPC_bootanimation.zip
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Basically, rom toolbox could read the correct values right out of default.xml. I don't know why it doesn't. Maybe the path/name of default.xml itself isn't consistent on all devices or maybe he just didn't think of it yet.
