Rom Toolbox working/not working - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Finally broke down and bought this app. Price tag is a little high considering you can get all the separate applications free, but not all under one roof. But that brings me to my question.
Have you or anyone else you heard of had issues with any of the programs in rom toolbox? Ad blocker has been a little inconsistent for me. Know he has been working on it though.
Does the boot screen changer work? Had any issues with font changer? Just want to know before I run into the same thing. Some of it is a little dangerous to run without being optimized for the phone. Especially the EVO LTE.
Any info would be appreciated. Please share any positive / negative effects you've had. Thanks!

It all works for me.. Some things such as the status bar icon installer might look a little goofy on Sense ROMs(I'm on cyanogemmod so I haven't tried it) but everything else should work. Its all mostly fundamental android tools that should work on any phone, EVO, GS3, or otherwise.

Another question unrelated to rom toolbox. In titanium backup pro u are supposed to be able to restore all apps & data at once. I've looked in settings and preferences but can't find it. Does it come up when u are restoring?
Pretty much the only reason I bought it was for the one click restore.

I bought it yesterday myself. It's an awesome app, but boot animations don't work for me either, most likely due to a prerequisite of being S-OFF?

Which ROM are you running? I haven't tried it on a Sense ROM so I can't say for sure but that's all I can think of that might interfere with it. The tool basically just takes the animation and puts it into the right folder in the root of your phone.
I know on my old Hero it was stored a little different on some ROMs so that some boot animations with sounds and stuff caused issues.
Point is, its probably ROM based, not hboot related.
Edit: If you check the boot animation installer settings you can change the target of where its installing the animation. If you can find out where its installed on your ROM there's no reason for it not to work as long as you're rooted.
Edit#2: If on a sense ROM change the destination to /system/customize/resource/
And then change from bootanimation.zip to *scratch that, read post below for the right .zip name*
No guarantees it'll work but it looks like that's where its stored on a Stock w Goodies ROM I have on my SD card. I took the bootanimation from it and installed it on my paranoid android ROM and it worked so it should work the other way around.

Boot animations just require root, and you have to tell rom toolbox the path/filename of the boot animation zip that the rom is looking for.
For sense-based roms on evo lte, that is
/system/customize/resource/SPC_bootanimation.zip
That filename is actually mutable. It's defined in /system/customize/CID/default.xml
So go into rom toolbox, boot animations. Then hit menu, Install Locations.
Common locations: "HTC EVO 4G"
That loads the other two settings with defaults that are closest to correct. Directory is correct, and you only have to modify the filename slightly from bootanimation.zip to SPC_bootanimation.zip
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

Basically, rom toolbox could read the correct values right out of default.xml. I don't know why it doesn't. Maybe the path/name of default.xml itself isn't consistent on all devices or maybe he just didn't think of it yet.

Dual Booting on Rezound

I want to dual boot on my rezound. However, what Im unsure about is if it is possible to do if the two roms require different kernels. For example if I ran a Gb rom which needs a gb kernel, and then tried to dual boot with a ics rom that needs a ics kernel. Is this possible?
I too am wondering this. I was gonna make a nand of a GB Rom and one of an ICS Rom and switch between them
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I think it can be done. I am actually working on it now.
At first I was like "Uh..why would you want to do that?" but then thinking of how many times I have reinstalled BAMF (4) and tried new ROMS on top of that (4)....
That's a nice idea. I don't see it happening. But a nice idea all the same.

Would the nand idea work since the amon recovery allows you to backup the kernel as well? Just as long as you wipe data when switching between the nands?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
The reason I wanted to do it was because I wanted to be able to toy with the sense 4 roms that are unstable, without having to wipe data install the rom then have to switch back and redo my whole setup since they aren't stable. If we had dual booting the wiping data and resetting can be avoided and I can continue to check the sense 4 roms with ease.

HTC Rezound Custom Roms

Moved from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790530
I found a rom on this forum I want to try out, but it does not explicitly say it is for the Rezound.
However according to this site, http://tips4droid.com/top-5-custom-rom-for-htc-rezound/ , the rom is compatibile.
The Rom that was listed can be located here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964841
and is about halfway down the page, 7.0.4.
Has anyone tried this Rom on the Rezound with success?
If not this Rom then which did you have success with?
I have already done the following:
Unlock Bootloader
Install Amon Ra -> SuperUser and su
nandroid backup (deleted after reading about a problem with restoring S-ON)
S-OFF (the method is a pain, but it does work)
nandroid backup
tested nandroid backup (worked flawlessly)

The worst that could happen is you brick your phone.
Be warned that GB development for the most part is dead now, CleanRom 1.7.5 and Ineffabilis 1.4 are good GB options though.
Cleanrom looks right and sounds lightweight, but the other has my attention with the extras, have you had experience with both?
Bricking is my first concern, not being able to restore stock Rom my second...
I would go with 4.0 or 4.1, but I like how the lockscreen and phone key UI look on the stock Rom and themes do not look as good...

I've used them both and they are both solid roms, I'd have to go with Ineffabilis as my favorite of the two.
Neither one is really supported any though, Scott who made CleanRom went to another phone, Chingy who made Ineffabilis is now supporting a ICS based version of the rom - Ineffabilis Deus. That's the one I currently use.

Just make sure you have a nandroid back up and you wipe all the internal filesystems before installing. If you don't like it, it's easy to wipe again and just restore your original rom. One of the great things about nandroid, it lets you try out different roms and easily revert back.

If you're s-off, the rom installer should have installed a new kernel for you. If you're familiar with fastboot, you can extract the boot.img from the rom file and flash it.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Otherwise, try installing the rom again.

[MOD] [UPDATED 8/5/12] Google Now Project For ICS - Heads Up

Not sure if many of you guys are aware of the Google Now search option but it is something similar to Siri. I have this running on Viper 4G and its working pretty well. Also I'm not to sure how often that thread gets updated so I posted the link to the Member that uploaded the flashable zip file.

40 Cool Voice Searches
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHkhp6BwnGo
Hit the thanks button if you like!
Indeed, I feel like Now is something I actually will use as when Siri came out I was like "meh". I have a Nexus 7 and I instinctively ask questions to it instead of searching by text like I normally do. The first time I did this shocked me because I never thought I would be using voice search in this streamlined fashion (not to mention how quick it is).
I know they added a pseudo-voice search for that app now and it's okay but the real thing is awesome. If you can afford to do a nandorid backup and flashing the CM10 build that can be found in the IRC channel -- do it. Just to see how fluid and fast the voice search is. Not to mention how life-like the voice is
EDIT: FORGET WHAT I SAID. Voice search is now working 100% now! Check out the video I made (if you can stand my foreign accent) of the Nexus 7 and our Evo performing side by side:
IT isnt "something similar to siri"....... it runs circles around it !
I've been using it for the last couple of days and it's pretty cool. I have my GPS/location icon hidden in Viper 4G but by looking at the battery usage on my phone, I have a feeling it may be using GPS more often than I'd like. I may have to unhide the icon and watch it. When I had GPS off, it started giving me weather for somewhere in California when I asked how the weather was
does any one known if this hack will work with the meanroom?
Im sure it will.. Just do a backup just in case.

Why do you need root so bad ????

Silly question but what's the need to root this phone, is great as it is.
Don't get me wrong, all my past phones were rooted OG Evo, Evo 3d, Evo LTE and now DNA is stock , but rooting seems unnecessary really.
If it's not broken why fix it.
Not fixing but enhancing. The phone is great as is... Adding in a few tweaks can only make it better plus the option to have the latest without waiting on slow big red... That's why I can't wait to root this bad boy.

Being able to flash custom edits (no more wireless charging pop up!), user a custom recovery where I can make full nandroid backups, and titanium backup of all my apps are the big ones for me. I can't wait to get rid of the bloatware and get my inverted apps back.
I don't need ROOT I need the bootloader unlocked so I can flash custom recoveries which leads to custom ROMs.
Example:
So when HTC says oh sorry we can't upgrade you to Sense 5 because you don't have an IR blaster I say thats ok because Newtoroot already has a Sense 5 ROM that I've been using LONG before HTC decided they weren't going to upgrade me.
With a good ROM you ALMOST don't need root.

Yea, I know, and I am very thankful of that. However, in most cases (if we get an official CM ROM) we can get updates much much sooner than you can with stock. Who knows how long HTC/Verizon will make us wait for 4.2.
For me, it's wifi tethering. No way big red's getting more money from me than they already do.

I guess you have unlimited, because it doesn't cost anything if you have tiered data.

Why do we need air? lol JK! For me part of the reason is that I love to tinker and strive to make the phone perfect, which theoretically is really impossible thus I always have to tinker! But I enjoy trying out all the cool custom ROMs and kernels to find what suits my needs best. RIght now I'm UV by 100 and UC 10 1.24 and it still runs as smooth as stock (though obviously my qudrant score has dropped from 8200 to 7100). I have unlimited data, so WiFi tether is a huge bonus. And getting rid of all the annoying icons (GPS reticle, etc). And as awesome as HTC's weather clock widget is, the transparent one in the Viper ROM is the most gorgeous widget ever to me.
All that being said, and there are not many, the DNA is an Android phone I would recommend stock to people.
I'm actually surprised its taking this long to get the ROM going on the DNA. Not that I have any idea of the amount of work that must go into doing something like this, but these guys that are much smarter than me usually have these things out very quickly. In the past it always seems like there is that group of developers that are trying to be the fist to crack/hack/unlock anything that comes out.
There are plenty of ROMs for the DNA man...check the android development section for the DNA...

For me, I can't wait to kill that damn annoying Droid bootsplash with the loud noise!
I forgot how annoying it was on my old unlocked one. The screen on that one shattered and my new one has the OTA.
