Mine disappeared after full root and does not show up in my app list to re-add it. It also does. Or show up in my app drawer. It does launch fine from the launcher and show up in folder organizer though. Any thoughts?

Didn't work for me. I now am able to select the phone app to display on that icon (couldn't before taking the update) however it still doesn't display on the lockscreen. In settings it is there and everything looks fine though.
i am having the same issue....did full root, on synergy rom, cant update htc software update, says no update to be found.
No phone app to put on the lock screen...
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
s-off and root works on the update, maybe if you guys can't figure out another way, either nand back to stock or RUU, then update, then reroot/s-off, etc.
I completely unrooted my phone and rooted back again but did not take recovery. Updated HTC then flashed teamwins recovery and did nandroid fixed that issue.

Fixed. I had to revert back to stock and S-ON then start over. It was something that got messed up in restoring settings from Titanium Backup.

Is it possible to flash CWM from rom manager for the Photon and if so which model do you select??
I had the bootstrap on my phone which was from the x2, but I'm not sure if CWM will be the same or if Atrix would be better or if I'm barking up the wrong tree lol.
Basically I flashed a theme and now I have no settings so I can't setup my BT, WiFi, or even install an app on my sd card because I can't change any settings. And I can't flash a new rom/theme without the settings.
EDIT: So I flashed the Atrix recovery from rom manager since a google search said you could and then flash another. Once I did and tried to boot into recovery it said "failed to boot 2"
Do a factory reset through bootstrap. Happened to my buddy last night after applying a theme, he had no settings.
I restored the bootstrap by using titanium backup when I hit that snag last night
Or if you have an backup, you can take the settings app from it and place it in the system apps
LMAO, and why I didn't think of that I have no idea. I've had mybackup pro since I had my Evo over a year ago and use it religiously, until now that is lmao. I just backed it up before I flashed the new theme and didn't even think of that, good looking out guys thanks.
EDIT: Anyone know of another way to flash CWM without using ADB or SDK??
EDIT no. 2: installing from backup didnt work, it prompts me to go to settings because install from unknown sources is blocked and when I try to go to it I get a Force Close.
Is it possible to just put the settings.apk in the right folder with root explorer or something of that naturr?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
That's what i did, I put the settings apk in the zip and installed it and now everything is fine. Settings looks normal but its there
How did you install though? I cant get into my settings to enable install from unknown sources to allow the install

Why can't you factory reset, and then flash the latest stock build using rsd lite? You should have everything there. Just back your apps up in titanium and restore each one after.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Even doing factory reset using ##786# I couldn't get it to detect in rsdlite using rsd mode on my photon. I found out my rsdlite was an old version and I had a hell of a time finding the newer version (even the links I found on here were broken links) Once I got that I flashed the current sbf, then went about the pudding unlock steps and got it all done.

You could download the latest RUU 2.17 if your CDMA and run it that will reinstall the whole thing from scratch. Should fix you up if not then your phone is having hardware issues. I would try the RUU exe thing first.

I have an s-off'd custom rom with AmonRa recovery... offered update??
I just want to have it ignore the update.
Apparently, the software doesn't know the
recovery system is not stock ... so it tries
and fails. I wonder if there is a way to extract
the new fingerprint to trick the update process
into thinking the updates already applied?
Or is there a way to just suppress it all together?
Well I'm pretty much chicken so I'm basically stock but rooted but the ota update keeps falling. I tried unrooting so the update could work but it still failed. Not sure why...
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Same here
I am having the same issue, as well. Rooted, debloated stock sense. Recovery is Amon-Ra.
So I read another thread that made it seem like I needed to re-lock the bootloader so I did that and now when I try to update it goes into the bootloader menu instead of starting the update. Do I need to unroot or do another step for this to work?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Did you debloat at all? I was stock+root (no debloating) and the install went fine.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Well, when the ota update downloads and you press the button to update, the updater immediately begins to check the system utilizing a checksum system for any modification, such as a deodexed system/app folder or binaries that weren't originally present. It wants to make sure all system/apps are still there and untouched and all the binaries are still kosher. If it detects something is "off" it will usually abort. If everything checks out it will boot to bootloader and attempt to install the update in the stock recovery. It will fail here of course if a custom recovery is installed.
You can kill your phone from even attempting to check for any otas by using Root Explorer or something similar, go to system/app and add bak to the end of each of these files:
HtcCOTAClient.apk
HtcCOTAClient.odex
You want them to look like:
HtcCOTAClient.apkbak
HtcCOTAClient.odexbak
You could also remove them.

I froze that with TiBu but it still shows up
as a pending update.
Experimenting, I tried freezing HtcDM
apk and service and the notices went away.
Is that safe to leave DM frozen, (what else does it do)?
My intent is to just prevent this a future OTA
updates auto-installing while I asleep. i woke
to find myself looking at a failed attempt
and hung in AmonRA, I rebooted to normal
and everything runs as normal.

Not to be a PIA, but why freeze if you can just add bak to the end of the file name and you will achieve the same thing? If you ever want to go back you just delete the bak?

You must be on the stock recovery to take an OTA. The stock recovery performs the update. So flash the stock recovery and then do the update or deal with no update.
Is there a way to flash the stock recovery without it wiping my phone?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Unless you're running a completely stock rom (with nothing removed), you won't be able to install the update anyway...
If you want to stop it from trying to come down, delete or rename /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip.
As for re-installing the stock recovery, you probably would need to RUU your phone unless it's s-off.
So if I do a back up, then go back to stock recovery which will wipe my phone, then perform the ota update, will a restore revert the ruu back and I'm back to square one, or does the ruu not roll back?

If you are on a stock rom you should be able to flash the stock recovery from fastboot without wiping the phone. Just find the recovery.IMG from the 605.12 ruu and flash it in fast boot to your phone. Then take the update and when complete flash your custom recovery in fast boot again and flash su zip.

A restore would not overwrite any of the firmware on the phone, just the rom.
As dottat pointed out, you can download the latest RUU, extract the recovery image from it and flash that via fastboot. I'd still back up your rom with your custom recovery first in case the rom pieces in the update bork something...
Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can find the stock ruu?

Need a copy of the stock recovery
I am S-On and unlocked. I need to reflash the stock recovery to apply the OTA firmware update, right? I cannot find a copy of it anywhere. Anyone know where I can get this? I downloaded the stock RUU and tried to pull it out, but I cannot unzip the file. I would be grateful for any help. Thanks.
I am having much grief since s-offig last night.
The process succeeded without any issues. I s-offed, re rooted and put on recovery. But when I am going to try new roms, I am having a battle. The only ROM I can get to flash is Stock with Goodies 3.42. CM10, MeanBean, Stock W Goodied 2.08, OMJ will not even flash or boot- it stays on the htc splash for ever/bootloops.
I just tried to flash OMJ again and it froze during Aroma install where you choose the options. Another time it said Symlinks install failed.
Also, I have wiped cache, dalvik, system, and even internal storage and after doing all this, the phone will remember what background I had on the previous flash of Stock with Goodies. !?
I have been flashing for 4 years now. I haven't had so much trouble. Any suggestions? Do I need to flash some Kernel?
It is keeping the wallpaper because you have your Google settings set to back up your phone settings.
For the other stuff. Not sure. What version of twrp are you on?

Anyone got any so far. Ive had a few that I want to share
1. Blinkfeed becomes unresponsive and wont open any feeds, requires reboot.
2. Market won't update some apps, some get error 924, some update but after a reboot have to update the same apps again.
3. The back button becomes unresponsive and requires a reboot to fix.
4. Phone rebooted after updating 1 app just yesterday.

That's weird , When I was on stock sense, I didn't encounter a single issue from what you are posting.
I think its something that's got to do with your CID. Post your CID and region.
I think HTC/Carrier (whoever pushes the updates) will release a hot fix if its a general thing. If its you only then just factory reset or download a stock sense version. Or you can use a custom rom that uses sense 5. Hope you fix it.
