Backup from 2.1 to 2.3 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently using stock firmware 2.1
and i heard from se blog that backup&update is removed from 2.3.3 due to incompatibility.
So i was wondering if there a way to backup SMS, MMS and Call Logs on my current 2.1 and restore it in the new 2.3
(I know there are alot of backup apps in market but all seem not working well)
I am planing to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988 instead of stock rom >..<
Thanks,
johnlth93

[Request] SE x10 backup & restore application compatible with froyo

hi guys,
i just flashed my x10 to froyo from the original 2.1 rom. Before that i've backup my contacts with backup & restore application now i have the apk as well but i cannot install in on my froyo.. i need help if anyone can make the apk compatible with froyo or guide on how to install it using xrecovery.
Probably not so easily done.
I'd suggest flashing back to Stock and backing it up with another method.

Use MYbackup application which is available in Market..
MyBackup Pro for is working great for me,you can backup and restor your sms, contacts, calendar, music playlist, call log, alarms, system settings, apps and photos i'll send you lnk with the full version of the program if you want in pm
u can export your contact to sd.
and i use nebackup for sms backup.
Mybackup root does the job and its free in market
sent from my Commodore 64
thx for the help.... thumps up!!!
My backup pro restored my messages but failed to restore contacts
my contacts are always just backed up to my google account automatically so I've never worried about those.
And the SE Backup and Restore app will not work on any rom that isn't created by SE.

You will have to do it manually, open titanium backup from top click "Backup/Restore" and then find what ever app or system app or contacts you want to restore, click it and restore ONLY data! And youre good to go

Hello,
these items are displayed in green in "Backup/Restore" list (Titanium Backup), all beginning with "[". Or, you can restore all the green items (data only).
A reboot is needed after the restore (data only)
Call history restore doesnt work on ICS.
The rest - just restore app data for mms and contacts app.

Ah, didn't tried on ICS yet.
I found problems restoring SMS from GB to ICS with TB (Force close of SMS application).. Either with [--vk--] and Resurrection roms, solved using MyBackup Root (but I don't like it..)

Stock x10mini pro Android 2.1 backup

Hi all,
I would like to ask you which is the best way to backup my x10mini pro (contacts, sms, mms ...) I dont need to back up apps. I know that this topic should be somewhere there but I was unable to find it.
After backup I would like to install Ginger Bread and restore my data. On my HD2 there is no problem with all that because I have rooted phone, but on the x10 mini pro Iam lost.
Thanks in advice

Well I used that program, but it just didn't backup my sms and mms. I am going to find another one ...
just hit advanced restore instead of restore with gosms and it will bring you the backuped data to restore
just use superbackup app

[Q] Properly backing up MIUI sms'es to regular Android

Hi. Thing is that I've been using MIUI for a long time now but I wanna use regular Android now and I've like 7K SMS'es that I wanna bring with me. I've tried a whole bunch of SMS backup tools but they all seems to import the messages in a wrong order even though the dates are right. Extracting the messages from a Nandroid doesn't work because MIUI uses a different sms database format or something.
So I'm just wondering if anybody can help me with this or have any experience.
Thanks
How about using thirdparty sms backup app from market to backup the sms on miui rom that u use, then after u flash another rom just use the same app to restore the sms. Its not that hard to figure that out.
Anyway "sms backup and restore" by ritesh sahu never failed me, on stock, miui, or cm.

Titanium backup has an option to backup and restore messages in XML format. Give that a try. I usually use SMS backup and restore by Ritesh Sahu.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough but that's exactly what I've been trying. SMS Backup & Restore, MyBackup+ and other apps I forgot the names of.

Installing Ultimate Sola v2 rom

I'm interesting in installing in this custom rom. As I haven't done this before(I'm not noob in tech stuff, so I can do this easily) I have a question. As I have read, installing any custom rom, including Ultimate sola v2 requires wiping all data. I'm rooted and I use titanium backup for backup/restore. Question: Will I be able to restore without problems after installing ultimate sola? I have a lot of data and I don't want to lose it.

Both regular data, like contacts, call log, messages and data from games and apps, like angry birds, cut the rope etc.
Should not be a problem restoring game data. As long as you backup the system data.
Titanium backup cannot backup messages and contacts. You need a separate backup for that. Contacts can be simply synced with your google account. Messages will need to use MyBackUp Root. I use this and Titanium to backup everything.

Titanium Backup ( Free version) only supports backing up of all apps along with user data. For contacts - Sync with Google, Messages - use 'SMS Backup and Restore' app (by Ritesh Shahu)
And in case of some very important data, if you dont trust these apps, just manually copy important data to your PC and later you can try and restore in case these backup apps fail to restore.
Hope it helps
Might wanna hit Thanks button if you found it helpful
