[Q] Gingerbread and Roms? - Motorola Droid X2

Is there any news of how we're going to go about flashing ROMs with Gingerbread installed? Is there a custom recovery in the works, or are developers going to have to build from the pre-rooted Gingerbread and ask users to .sbf back to Froyo and then install the ROM from the Froyo recovery?

I'm using the bootstrap. Installed it then backed up seems to work fine so far as far a flashing a rom with it not sure.

Did the bootstrap work for you in GB? I tried it and nearly hard bricked.

Yes im using same version that used in froyo. Its the system recovery app. Have to install than reboot with charger plugged in. Seems to work but haven't flashed a rom with it. Not sure if its the same as bootstrap thought it was though. Its in the forum here somewhere, I saved it when downloaded it.
Its the one here

Some one had mentioned they almost bricked so not sure if its safe but like said working so far, I might wait till a specific one for gb is made before trying to flash a rom.

I was able to make 2 backups of GB one was a stock and one a blurless backup using the same bootstrap I use with froyo so it work for me so far

I have a Bell Atrix unlocked with CM7 on it
If your unlocked, I recommended trying to flash a fruit cake.

Rom manager question

I bought my atrix already rooted and it has gingerblur 4.5 on it.
As im not really knowledgeable on roms and such i have mainly 2 doubts
My first is on using rom manager over my already romd phone...is that safe or a recipe for bricking my phone.
My second is on going back to stock...not familiar with the process im told it is necesary for the gingerbread upgrade.

You have a bit of reading ahead of you. First of all you need to unlock the bootloader..

Don't be fooled gingerblur is NOT A FULL ROM

Keyboard problem in CM7

Has anyone run into a problem where any keyboard stops working after a while? The only way to get it to work I found is to reboot of just keep typing.. is there anyway to fixed this other than to sbf?

Using Swype Beta here on CM7 Beta since DKZ released it without a hitch. I guess my question would be did you follow the directions to the letter when you flashed CM7? I only ask because this is the first I've read of anyone having a keyboard problem.

Seems okay, not great though.
Does anyone know if it's possible to launch this in a similar way to on the GNex, or would that not matter as we have the search key?

How is it launched on the GNex? I have mine launched a couple of ways; pressing search, long press search, and using persistent search bar. They all pull up different things of Google now, like voice search or cards page. I wish I had a base to compare this to, but since I've never used any other version it seems to be fully functional.
