Is it necessary to calibrate after flashing a new kernel?
Not really. I found my battery life is better after I flashed the new voodoo kernel by jt. If you do have some bad battery life, it would be suggested you do calibrate your battery.
how do you calibrate your battery also i notice after i charge my battery all nite the next morning i start off with either 99 or 98 percent any reason why???
Calibration of the battery isn't really required if you flash at 100% each time.

This is expected behavior designed to protect the life of your battery. basically what happens is your phone will charge to 100%. It's not good for a li-on battery to stay at that stress level so the phone will then allow the battery to discharge to 95%. Once it hits 95% you will start charging back up to 100% and the process will repeat. If the phone didn't do this the battery would degrade much more rapidly.

thank you some days its good and some days its bad........
Lately my phone has had terrible battery life. Another thing is that when I charge it, it'll go to 100 percent but then will go down and start discharging. This is a very annoying problem so can some one please help.

Here is a guide to hopefully solve your terrible battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071885
The guide is by OmegaRed. Giver her the credit for that.
Give it a look and try it.
But the charging issue, I had the same issue until I switched chargers totally to the powermat wireless charge with the special power cube adapter. I don't have that issue anymore.
Hope this helps.

The battery charging cycle doesn't go to 100% and stays there - kind of cycles between 100 back to 94 and then back to 100%
Couple of things to check for:
- Have you calibrated your battery?
- Can you find any heavy battery usage applications that may be the cause. With "normal" (whatever that is) phone usage, your main battery gulpers should be the display and radio/calls. Have a look if any other app is at the top of the list of battery eaters.
You can do that via xRecovery - resetting
hi.
I am using CM7 now which is great, but since I am going to a trip abroad I need to temporary change to a ROM with GPS, but most inportant, with a great battery life.
I don't need any great performance like CM7, I just need the battery to last long.
Any recommendations?
Thanks.

from my experience best battery i have on this rom i flashed this rom yesterday and charge it to 100% and run batt calibration it is preinstalled in this rom when you run batt calibration after that unplug your phone from charger and use it till total discharge and do not turn your phone on charge it to 100% again and its ok i've did it and play some games wi fi is enabled always i've use gps for 15 minutes and from yestarday till today so now i have 82% batt so i thing this is the best for batt
oh by the way lag fix is enabled to
Thank you. Do you know if calibrating the battery is useful even if I have one extra battery and I switch between the two batteries if necessery?
I don't know about the two battery thing, but i do agree that Project V have great battery life. Im using Super Dragon Modz kernel OCed to 1.3, and the phone its doing pretty nice till now. I unplugged it like 2 hours ago, and it still show 100%. On CM7, i would be around 75 to 80% by now. Battery life was the reason that i came back to Froyo.
WOW that's great battery life! Thanks a lot.
i don't konw about 2 batteries but calibrating is usefull it's helping 98% bug after unplug and it's greating a new battstat file what is realy nice project v6 is very good rom for battery i did't tried super dragon
I don't see how callibrating the battery helps extend battery life? The battery remains at the same capacity and draining any battery completely shortens the lifespan of the battery. I can see that the system might get a better prediction of battery life... But you get that regardless after using the phone for a few days / week...

I'm on Axura 2.2.7.2 and have horrible battery life no matter what battery I use.
For example, my battery percent is at 63% right now:
4h 48m 38s since unplugged
Display 90%
WiFi 5%
Cell Standby 3%
Phone idle :1%
The weird thing is that I don't really use it a lot either. I used it for maybe 20 minutes max. Talked on the phone for 5 minutes, made about 10 texts, and checked the time from my phone thats it.
Also, I'm using Zeam launcher, could that be the problem?
Please give me some tips on how to maximize my battery life.
You have to calibrate your battery. Download Battery Calibration from the market first, then kill your phone all to like 5%. Charge your phone all the way up to 100%
Then click on the calibrate button on the Battery Calibration app. You should be good after that. Make sure your unplug after calibrating and die the phone down again, and then charge is back to 100%

please go to settings / about phone / battery use and post what is consuming most of your battery so we can help u better knowing what the problem is.
there are a lot of ways of improving battery. the best 4 me so far is a custom kernel that allows undervolting which helps a lot without affecting performance. underclocking if u want to go the extra mile, and lowering brightness helps too since our screens are battery hogs.
