The mhl adapter does not work on my evo 3d ..how do you get it to work
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
The Evo 3D should automatically detect the TV once the MHL cable is plugged in on both ends. Just make sure that you are connected to a power source. An "hdmi" icon will appear on the top notification bar and it will begin mirroring. I read on other posts that it's not compatible with older TVs due to older hdmi versions, but haven't verified it myself.
Good luck.
Try rebooting your phone and also make sure you plug in the power too.

+1 adapter only works when you plug in the usb power cord into the side of the adapter.

Mhl output not being recognized after s-off. Anyone else with similar issue? Worked fine prior too. Worked with Temp root also. Any idea's?
Are you rooted stock or on a custom rom. If so which rom?

I'm not sure. I'm soff running mags rom and mine is working fine
Apple sucks ballz
I nand back to stock rom, and working. I'm back stepping now to figure out what I did to flub it up in the first place. I had flashed a variety of new roms out. But had wiped each time. I don't think it was the roms, probably some of my own tweaking.
Did you flash custom kernel? That probably did it if so.

Pretty sure you have to give the MHL adaptor a power source for it to work. As in plug the usb into the wall. So you have the hdmi cable to the tv and the usb cable to your AC adaptor.
Tmobile works.just finefor my.3d after.rooted just like its said.u have to.connect power also it.on the side , for it.to work

I'd like to connect my Evo 3D via composite cable. Can it be done? If so could you point me to a cable?

Any reason you don't just use a MHL adapter? That's what is intended to be used on these phones, in case you were unaware. T-Mobile has them for just over $20 and they work awesome! Fully mirrors what ever is on your phones screen in portrait and landscape

does not work
yes, i've tried to plug my phone into my cars 6.5 inch touchscreen deck via a 4 pole patch cable. the phone thinks that you plugged in a stereo headset with a mic. my guess is the phone doesnt have a composite output or you need a specific trigger to switch the mic output to composite output like we used to do on the touch pro 2.

Just wondering if all MHL adapters are the same. Meaning, can I use a generic non-HTC adapter on my Rezound?

I believe so. Someone posted that a monoprice one worked on his GSII. I know that is a different phone but it is likely that HTC hasn't blocked generic ones if samsung didn't.

I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get it.
The thunderbolt/EVO 3D htc mhl adapter works.

The Monoprice MHL adapter works like a charm. You can't use your HTC cable in the adapter though. So pick up a long enough 5 pin micro usb cable( I am using a 6' wish I would have bought bigger) and long enough HDMI cable for your set up so you don't have to stand next to your TV operate the phone and watch it on the TV.
to further add to the question, if you're going through the MHL->HDMI to your telie, will it also keep your phone charged?
Yes you plug the adapter to the phone and the wall

Yeah its a lot going on for our phone to display on a TV. My wife's Bionic has hdmi out, that is so easy! Just bought a hdmi to micro hdmi cable from monoprice for 3 bucks for my wife's phone. The Rezound looks like a octopus just to display to the TV!
Where u guys getting the monoprice MHL? Amazon? I haven't connected any phone to my tv since my original EVO days. Would love to do it with this one. Thanks fellas

Does anyone know if NFL mobile app will work through the mhl adapter? I'm thinking of picking one up for that and some emulator gaming.

No, the video parts of the NFL app will not work. I have tried it and when you try to access video content, the screen you are connected to view blank.
Thats weird. I thought u can view anything that's on your phone... Even the home screen!? Is there anything else that doesn't work through the mhl?

I recieved mine from Monoprice, works great. But it HAS to be connected to power (charger or USB both work) to function, not just if you want the phone to charge while using the adapter.
What I did was use a short HDMI cable, short micro USB cable plugged into one of my TVs USB ports for power, and then mounted the adapter to the back of my TV with velco. I then use a micro usb extension cable to connect the adapter to my phone, cutting down a TON on the octopus effect. And I can always disconnect the adapter to take it with me somewhere.
Is this the adapter everyone is buying, its $14 not $10 so want to make sure I'm not missing anothr one on their site. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=8675&seq=1&format=2
Ok I just picked up a mhl adapter from fry's & I'm running Olympus titan, but I can't get hdmi out. My phone recognizes It's on hdmi till I turn on the tv,after that it just disappears and no pic or sound on the tv screen. It works perfect with the 4G I'm starting to think its the adapter.
Anychance of a hdmi mirror app for the 3d

My only idea is way back when we first got root for the Evo 3D I found that the htc "transfer" app had to be installed for me to use mhl. Not sure if that's true for everyone or is still the case. If it's missing, try installing that? Pull it from a stock rom and install or adb push it.

My problem was that my samsung didn't like it, worked fine with my evo 4g...anyway connecting via amplifier -> to tv works perfect...it probably is your tv that doesn't like the output from the mhl
To hell with you Lou.....lmao
why are you ALWAYS RIGHT!!!
Ok ive heard that this worked for some ppl. With the tv on first with ur hdmi channel selected, plug it in but only after. So basically the cable gets plugged in to the phone last and sometimes they unplug then plug back in. Then it has worked for them. I hope it helps you.

Found the solution ....
1.turn off the TV
2.connect power adapter to the MHL adapter
3.connect MHL adapter to the EVO 3D
4.Turn on the TV.
With these steps it works like a charm!
*Its very important the tv must be OFF*
Hope this will help others who had the same problem with me.
Can't wait to get off work and try this when i get home...sooo frustrated last night that it wouldn't work...but i didn't try with tv off...

Finally got mhl adaptor working..but only after restoring to a stock rom...but will not work on a custom rom..wtsb to be specific..what files could i pull from stock to make it work in custom Rom?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Some kernels break mhl, possibly roms too but not sure. For example, the anthrax kernel breaks it but is being fixed in an update hopefully soon.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
going to try the TV off thing, if that doesn't work maybe I'll go back to a stock rom/kernel
If your one of the lucky ones and had chads 12192011 kernel and saved it. That has mhl support.
sent from America....F__k yeah!
