There is a thread somewhere around here where someone did it. I believe they just pushed it into system/app and changed the permissions. I don't remember the exact permissions off the top of my head, but I know they resemble an upside down and sideways "L".
Lol. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I have been trying to find this also. I have all the CM7 apks extracted on my sd card, I just need to know the proper way to install it to the system folder.

First download the latest Motorola Droid CM7 release, this is not for the Droid X2 but it's the closest thing to it.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.0.3-Droid-signed.zip
Next extract the files from the zip and locate the ones you want to use.
Make a back-up of the ones you have.
Place the new files in /system/app using whatever method you want.
CHMOD the files you placed as rw-r--r-- (644)
Reboot or SYNC

Is there any way to get the battery and data manager setting back on eclipse .6 (not remix)? I love this rom and it has probably been the best one yet. I just need to be able to turn my roaming on so I can at least get some signal. Lol.
Anyone know of a zip that I can just flash?
Wut do?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Download remix or an earlier version of eclipse that had the file, copy it to your data folder on your device and set permissions.
I true doing that before, but how dining set permissions?

Use a file manager, like root explorer
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
No, I mean like, how would I do it? Like, I know how to get the thing up to change permissions, but what would I change them to? Like, how would i know what to set permissions to?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
this should help you out yondercomesthetrain, I apparently haven't been a member long enough to post a link so ill write it out for ya
this is a step by step on how to set permissions using root explorer
-follow what sakth said and download the earlier version that file or files, and put it/them on your sd card of your phone, and unmount from your computer
-then download root explorer if you haven't already and install, otherwise open the app
-navigate to sdcard in root explorer, copy the file that your put on your sd card earlier
-navigate to the data folder of your system, and click mount r/w, and then paste
-look for the new file you just pasted in system/data, and do a long press on the file untill a window pops up
-Select Permissions, and change them to rw-r–r–
-follow the same directions if there are multiple files that need to be copied and and have permissions changed
hope that helps ya out
Dude, thank you so much for the step by step. It took a little trial and error for me to get it all down together, but your directions really helped me out a lot. but now I have the Battery and Data manager setting again. Again, thank you so much. You have been a huge help. If I wasn't using tapatalk, I would use the thank you button. As a matter of fact, I might just thank you when I get to a computer. You made my day.

It's under applications in settings.

Ohh, my mistake.
I would like to eliminate any possible issues with new build.prop so I would like to restore original build.prop to see whether problem goes away with one of my applications.
Thanks.

U don't need to get it from sbf file
---------- Post added at 11:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:00 PM ----------
Here http://www.multiupload.com/XZBB0E58Q6
Download that STOCK 2.3.4 Deoedexed rom
the build.prop is the SAME EXACT one from stock 2.3.4
(This is what motcher was talking about)
Just go into the zip and extract build.prop from /system
And then put it into ur /system after deleting or changing to build.prop.bak the one u have already.
Make sure u fix permission to rw-r--r-- before rebooting
Extraction from sbf file is gonna be a big.pain in the ass to end up wit that SAME EXACT file
Just downloaded the Dodexed .zip file and there is no build.prop file in there.
I will have to download and check.((gotta wait til im at work on wifi tho)
I have a nandroid I can do to bring up stock build.prop also(as im sure others do too.)
If u have a stock nandroid then just make a nandroid now.
Them restore the stock.
Copy build.prop to ur sdcard
Restore current setup
then push it in
Hey ash that file only contains system/app and system/framework and is not a complete rom build. You are right on about restoring a stock backup, use a file explorer to extract the build.prop

The nandroid /copy build.prop is gonna be the way to go to get what's needed here

Neutrino is my first custom ROM, and I love it!
I'd really like to enable TTS, and I'm not sure what I need to do. There was a multiupload link for the languages / tts .zip in the Neutrino thread, but it is now down. I see that people have had issues with it - although I understand that they've resolved it manually by copying over various files from CM7.
I'm at a loss, however, of where to obtain these files or which files are needed specifically.
I'd really like to get this done ASAP as I'm going on a road trip tomorrow, and really need my GPS functional! Does anyone have a .zip to flash to make this work, or is anyone able to me a rundown of what files to copy over?
Thank you so much!
- Andy
P.S. This would be posted in the Neutrino thread except as I am new XDA won't let me post in the Develpment Forum :-/

For some reason he doesn't have it posted anymore, I have an early test one he made for me that I will post for you later(I use it still)

Notorious544d responded, telling me what files I needed to copy over
But, what you should do is download CM7 and copy the following files in their respective folders:
/system/app --> PicoTTS.apk, ttsservice.apk
/system/lib --> libttspico.so, libttssynthproxy.so
/system/tts --> Copy whole TTS folder and place in system and set 644 (rw-r--r--) permissions to be safe.

The only thing is I don't know how to copy these over exactly. Where do I put them / how do I put them? There's no system folder on the SD card, so I take it I have to flash them? How do I do that exactly?
Nevermind - I figured out how to push the files up using adb after remounting as root
TTS works fine now!

you would use ROOT explorer to do this look at the folders (outside the sdcard ) for the /system folder

I've tried extracting the apk from the official rom but it won't install. Anyone have an apk that will? Thanks
Same problem here
I also am looking for the stock ICS browser.apk application. My wife has a Razr and I copied the apk fro the /system/app folder to her sd card, copied it to my computer and then moved it to my D4 and tried installing it with no-fu-go. I accidentaly deleted the stock browser.apk from my system apps while trying to delete a lot of the Verizon bloatware from my Droid 4. Now I'm stuck looking for the same app. I'll let you know if I come across anything! Let me know what you come across.
So i came across the stock ICS browser.apk on another thread here on XDA. Download it to your sd card and use root explorer or some type of file manager to move it from the sd card to system/app. After its moved to the system/app folder install it and then reboot into recover and run fix permissions. I used ROM Manager to fix my permissions and everything works fine again. Hope this helped out.

I'm asking different bootanimations .......not where can I find them .........
Google droid vibrant boot animation and it will bring up a link for shut down boot animation. Its a link to an xda post from tonicacid. There are a lot of older BA's that are pretty cool. You can also do a search in xda, boot animations, and find a bunch. If you find some cwm flash able and you are not sure if they will work, DL it and extract the bootanimation.zip and put in /data/local. If you already have a bootanimation.zip in data local, rename it .bak instead of .zip. And as always don't forget to manually fix permission.
Remember, the search function is your friend!

Check my Repo thread in the Dev section. I put about 15 bootanimations in there.

If you drop one in /data/local and set permissions, you won't have to fuss with the one in /system/media at all and can leave it alone completely.

Its not data in SD, its at root. Use root browser lite, its free and very user friendly. So it will be /data/local not
/sdcard/data.

This maybe a stupid question but how do I drop the new animation I dled from my computer to the data/local folder?
When i was looking for this file while my phone was connected to my laptop i could not find it.
You will need to do this in your phone, place the DL from your pc on your sdcard, then with the root browser lite app move it from /sdcard to
/data/local and fix permission.
644 or
rw-r--r-- or
