I'm asking different bootanimations .......not where can I find them .........
Google droid vibrant boot animation and it will bring up a link for shut down boot animation. Its a link to an xda post from tonicacid. There are a lot of older BA's that are pretty cool. You can also do a search in xda, boot animations, and find a bunch. If you find some cwm flash able and you are not sure if they will work, DL it and extract the bootanimation.zip and put in /data/local. If you already have a bootanimation.zip in data local, rename it .bak instead of .zip. And as always don't forget to manually fix permission.
Remember, the search function is your friend!

If you drop one in /data/local and set permissions, you won't have to fuss with the one in /system/media at all and can leave it alone completely.

Its not data in SD, its at root. Use root browser lite, its free and very user friendly. So it will be /data/local not
/sdcard/data.

This maybe a stupid question but how do I drop the new animation I dled from my computer to the data/local folder?
When i was looking for this file while my phone was connected to my laptop i could not find it.
You will need to do this in your phone, place the DL from your pc on your sdcard, then with the root browser lite app move it from /sdcard to

HOT! will definitely flash this if it is compatible..
Do you have the link to the bootanimation.zip for this. Splash is the static screen before the animation
Edit: nevermind I found it. Yes it runs on our phones, however the image is kinda small (uses about 1/3 of the screen right in the middle) and would need to be resized to look right.
Great post a link if we get this set up. Anyone care to pm me the process of changing the bootscreen?

Read read and read. That's how I learned. You need to be rooted, use root explorer (an app) and just push it. Meaning of push, its cut/copy and paste.

Most all of them you flash in clockworkmod.
There is a lot of them in the bible
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991267
tru dat! you got 2 options:
- Flash in CwMRecovery
or
- Push bootanimation.zip into /system/media
Like a kernel or modem, bootanimations do not really require a flash at 100% battery or clearing of settings in CwMRecovery if you choose to flash it. Some bootanimations are not flashable and require you to push them into /system/media. Always read the OP will generally explain if it is flashable or not.
***I highly recommend you push it yourself. Its not hard at all and will allow you to be more familiar with your file system***
- just find the "bootanimation.zip" that you want
- move it to ur phone
tip* i've found i like to archive all bootanimations on my PC for future reference do so or skip this next step
- browse to /system/media/bootanimation.zip(this is your original) copy it to archive
- browse to where you put the bootanimation.zip you want and select "move"
- browse to /system/media/ and select paste
- select replace
- reboot phone and voila! now you have ur new bootanimation and you feel more comfortable moving system files around. Aren't you smart ur mom would be proud. Good luck!

check my post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019858
its on shutdown animations.
for boot animations.
its the same method
but the bootanimation is just in the "system/media" folder...called "bootanimation.zip"
It can be taken from any ROM from the "system/media" folder and placed in your "system/media" folder on your phone and your done.
This will make more sense after you read my forementioned post.

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RISKS INVOLVED, YA MIGHT JUST BE BETTER OFF STICKING WITH STOCK. It's not that complicated, just do a little research. Plenty of knowledge floating around XDA...
Simple enough:
1:: download the .zip
2:: rename it (using ES File Explorer or Astro or any ROOT EXPLORER that will allow you to MOUNT SYSTEM AS WRITABLE) by simply cutting out the description so that it is just bootanimation.zip
3:: copy or cut the bootanimation.zip and paste it in the system/media folder or data/local
4:: you will be warned that the merge will overwrite the existing file and that the world will end (not really, just accept the merge)

I rename the original to OGbootanimation.zip then I copy the new on into the folder. That way I can delete the experimental file and name the original back if the experimental file won't work. It saves a few steps.
Make sure you're moving the zip file and don't extract it or use CWM on it.
Hm, is it boot animation.zip or sanim.zip?

Make sure your file system is mounted as writable. I used ES File Explorer and did all the steps, and it didn't work. So I checked the ES settings and it wasn't "Mounted as writable". Once I fixed that, and did the exact same steps, it worked. The animation looks great.

Hi. I just tried that and it didn't work either. Just moving the bootanimation.zip to the \system\media is all I need to do (besides setting the permissions)? What rom are you on? Custom boot animation may not be supported.
Is your current boot animation the android logo? There was no other bootanimation.zip in the folder for me, until I placed the renamed JB one.
here's my complete list of steps, that produced the desired results for me on Black*STAR IV ics rom:
*dl file to PC, renamed to bootanimation.zip placed in dropbox
*extracted to external sd card from dropbox app on phone
*moved to /system/media/ folder with ES file explorer (with mounted as writable, and all root options enabled)
*set permissions using Rom Toolbox's root browser
*rebooted phone and enjoyed animation
Mine does samsung logo samsung logo, android logo, then booted up.
Permissions set in ROM toolbox. Bootanimation.zip.
Must be my ROM's animation, (the android letters) needs removed?
Permisions is RW-R--R--
