I used revolutionary to S-Off but didn't flash the twrp right away I just rebooted the phone. Now I can't get back into recovery mode! Holding the volume down key does not work. Does anyone know a command I can type or something to go into recovery mode and fix this? Please help!

Since you didn't flash twrp right away, and don't have custom recovery, I'm assuming that by 'recovery mode' you're referring to the bootloader? So then from the bootloader you can flash twrp?
"adb reboot bootloader" will boot you to fastboot mode. You probably need to go to menu>settings>power, and disable fastboot in order for power+volume down to allow you to boot into the bootloader.
Also, removing the battery and then replacing it will allow you to boot to the bootloader via volume down and power button.
Also, once you get recovery and flash the su/busybox/super user zip, so that you have full root...the easiest way to get to recovery or bootloader after that is to use an app from the market called 'quickboot'. Good luck
Make sure fastboot is turned off in settings> power.

Hi.
I have not experience this before. But maybe try to download cwm custom recovery and use command to flash it to the recovery. It might work...
Gud luck...

Hard to tell what exactly is occurring without more detail. I'll provide a few more questions. The answers to these questions will help narrow down the possibilities and allow a more detail solution.
After the questions I'll cover some of the more common approaches to loading the recovery and some of the more common solutions to resolving the common recovery issues.
How are you attempting to enter recovery mode? When are you pressing the power button? When you say "press the power button there", what location are you referring to as there?
There are a few ways to access recovery mode. If you are familiar with using adb, you can issue the command, adb reboot recovery. If you're familiar with fastboot, you can issue the command fastboot reboot recovery.
Another common method is to hold down the vol down and pwr button to load the bootloader. Once you're at the bootloader screen you can use the volume rocker to highlight recovery and the power button to select.
If selecting recovery from the bootloader screen results in a reboot of the device but not into recovery mode, this is usually an indication there is an issue with the recovery mode. Most common issues are related to incorrect or corrupt recovery image flashes.
An easy solution to this issue is to reflash the recovery image. Perhaps also re-download the recovery image and check the md5sum to ensure the recovery image wasn't corrupted during the download.
Hope that helps prompt for more troubleshooting detail and propose some of the common issues plus solutions!

my phone is HTC evo 3d gsm with HBOOT 1.4.0.0.18
I did the bootloader unlock by htc.com with some codes with cmd....i also flash the cwm 5.0.2 by cmd with fastboot ....i push also the bootloader and again the recovery!!! my phone restarts but no in recovery mode(just restart and working normally) i also try to pass throught the recovery mode but pressing volume up+power button.... but Nothing!!!
That work has made for rooting the phone and flash a new better rom with 3.6 sense and android 4!!!

It just boots back into your rom normally? Do you have fastboot enabled(menu>power)? If so, disable it. Try pulling your battery and then push volume down(-) and power, see if that boots you into bootloader, then select recovery. Or try adb:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
i disable this menu setting in power!!! i flash this recovery...i go in bootloader mode and i press on recovery....and my phone just restart my rom!!!
FIX
For those of you that still don't know, it's because the newer version of the recoveries are buggy! If you have a CDMA Evo 3D, the correct recovery is attached (don't you just love me?).
Rename the file to "recovery" then
Go to fastboot and run "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
then if you want to boot into it from fastboot just run "fastboot boot recovery.img"
That's it!

did u try pressing "volume down+power button"?
usually this is the the way i enter recovery mode.
I had a similar problem what I ended up doing was turn my phone on bootloader mode and went to recovery and kept power pressed till it came on.
before that it would loop around the HTC screen.
Same Problem

I used htcdev to unlock my bootloader using the method shown here: go to youtube and search eNoL_EPJH9I
I have tried to update my phone to Android 4 however i believe that because my phone was unlocked the update failed...
I tried to re-lock my phone using the command fastboot oem relock and now i have no recovery, when i access the bootloader and select recovery it simply reboots the bootloader i have a CDMA HTC EVO 3D with HBOOT 1.5 on Sprint
When i try your method to reinstall the recovery i get this message:
sending 'recovery' (4832 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.130s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 1.742s
Any ideas on how i can get my recovery back to stock so i can update my phone?

Is it possible to enter fastboot without a pc? I ask because I had read that if you enter recovery via fastboot its almost like being s-off. I was actually able to flash a kernel that way. Thanks for replying.

Most ROMS will give you the option on the power menu (when you press down power button) to "reboot to bootloader". From there, fastboot is the first option in bootloader. edit: also you could hold down power and vol-down at the same time from powered off state, also AmonRa will give you the option to reboot to bootloader under developer options.

No technique or series of events will ever magically allow an S-ON user to bypass the secure flag and flash a complete kernel, boot.img and all, through recovery. Simply is not possible.
You need to fastboot flash the boot.img which requires a PC.
Rebooting to recovery from the Rom, or entering recovery through bootloader doesn't make a difference.
But to get to bootloader which is what I think you want, turn off the phone then boot by holding power+volume down button.
I think you're talking about flashing a kernel in hboot, which doesn't have anything to do with fastboot. You place the PH98IMG.zip onto your external sd card and boot to hboot, say yes to the update, and if you get a main version is older error message, there's a fixmainversionlow.zip that you can flash to avoid that.
That puts you in hboot. To go into fastboot mode, you select fastboot there on the hboot screen.

I bought a used HTC DNA that is S-ON, and does not say UNLOCKED or TAMPERED, but I have not been able to boot into recovery. When i hold volume down and power I just get blinking soft buttons and then the phone reboots. Is there away to flash the stock recovery back on the phone without having to unlock bootloader?
I can adb into hboot via the cli, but i have no options to get into recovery mode. This all started because i wanted to wipe cache.
Thanks.
have you tried "adb reboot recovery"? That should boot you straight into it.

If you still need help, download an app called "flash gui" on the market. Download a recovery image, click img on the one of two options, and flash it. Then hold down the volume down and power and it should work.
I think I screwed this up badly. I have Honey Comb, wanted to root it, so I used HTC Unlock and tried to fastboot flash CWM thinking I was S-OFF and I need to get into recovery to use ADB reboot oem-78 to run the RUU. Is there any way to fix this?
Just press and hold volume down and power buttons and you'll enter the bootloader menu. Select recovery from the menu by pressing vol +/- and press power again for selection.
The problem is it won't boot recovery for me.
OK. Then you'll have to unlock your bootloader through the htcdev.com and install custom recovery.
Format data, system, boot etc. reboot boot menu and install GB ROM by running official latest RUU. Must work for you.

That is what caused the issue. I did the unlock from HTCDEV but it didn't give me S-Off.
You cannot get s-off by htcdev. You must do it through the revolutionary site. Get the recovery you want to install place it into the Android folder, enter the bootloader, open command prompt from the Android folder, type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and press enter. That's it.
Hi, I oem unlocked my Nexus 9, installed TWRP and SuperSU, but I think I missed a step before I can go to custom ROMs and all. I've looked for instructions but I'm just getting confused. I firstly cannot reboot into TWRP unless I fastboot boot recovery from my PC every time. If I don't do that, it just boots into the Flounder PVT Ship white screen with Fastboot USB in red and below that HBOOT, REBOOT, REBOOT FASTBOOT, and POWER DOWN.
What step am I missing in this process? Do I need some sort of custom image or what am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Chris
Hello,
It can get a bit confusing sometimes and people generally expect you to just know lol.
You've not missed a step. Getting into recovery is irritating lol. For as long as I've had it if booted into recovery from the power menu lol xD.
Reboot the Google Nexus 9 by holding the Power and the Volume Down buttons at the same time and wait until the tablet display shows a Google splash screen before releasing the buttons.
If you get a android with an exclamation mark then you've made a boo boo. Dw, even us pros muck up ;]
Go back to your fastboot. Flash twrp like you do. But this time once you've flashed it type
Code:
fastboot boot recovery twrp.img
That should boot your device into recovery after flashing it.
There it should be stuck on there nicely of it takes a while Dw. That's just the fun of owning a N9 lol. That should Do it .
Happy Flashing.
Give us a Thanka if I helped

If you installed TWRP using
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
The only ways I know to get into recovery are to reboot to recovery from the Power menu of your ROM
OR
Boot to fastboot, select HBOOT, then select Recovery. If TWRP is installed as your recovery this will boot TWRP. If it goes to the dead droid screen then you need to install TWRP properly, using the fastboot flash command above.
I can't get my nexus 9 to run twrp as well.
I go to fastboo, select Hboot, then I get the android with exclamation, volume up and power brings up the original android recovery menu, not twrp. I've unlocked the bootloader, wiped everything and tried again, no luck. Always the same result

Are you using the newest TWRP? 3.1.0.0? It's not working for me either, can't boot to recovery. Use 3.0.2.2 or whatever the last version was
I used the 3.1.0.0
the trick was, after installing it, reboot straight back into recovery, so it doesn't get overwritten
