Hi.
I have not experience this before. But maybe try to download cwm custom recovery and use command to flash it to the recovery. It might work...
Gud luck...

Hard to tell what exactly is occurring without more detail. I'll provide a few more questions. The answers to these questions will help narrow down the possibilities and allow a more detail solution.
After the questions I'll cover some of the more common approaches to loading the recovery and some of the more common solutions to resolving the common recovery issues.
How are you attempting to enter recovery mode? When are you pressing the power button? When you say "press the power button there", what location are you referring to as there?
There are a few ways to access recovery mode. If you are familiar with using adb, you can issue the command, adb reboot recovery. If you're familiar with fastboot, you can issue the command fastboot reboot recovery.
Another common method is to hold down the vol down and pwr button to load the bootloader. Once you're at the bootloader screen you can use the volume rocker to highlight recovery and the power button to select.
If selecting recovery from the bootloader screen results in a reboot of the device but not into recovery mode, this is usually an indication there is an issue with the recovery mode. Most common issues are related to incorrect or corrupt recovery image flashes.
An easy solution to this issue is to reflash the recovery image. Perhaps also re-download the recovery image and check the md5sum to ensure the recovery image wasn't corrupted during the download.
Hope that helps prompt for more troubleshooting detail and propose some of the common issues plus solutions!

my phone is HTC evo 3d gsm with HBOOT 1.4.0.0.18
I did the bootloader unlock by htc.com with some codes with cmd....i also flash the cwm 5.0.2 by cmd with fastboot ....i push also the bootloader and again the recovery!!! my phone restarts but no in recovery mode(just restart and working normally) i also try to pass throught the recovery mode but pressing volume up+power button.... but Nothing!!!
That work has made for rooting the phone and flash a new better rom with 3.6 sense and android 4!!!

It just boots back into your rom normally? Do you have fastboot enabled(menu>power)? If so, disable it. Try pulling your battery and then push volume down(-) and power, see if that boots you into bootloader, then select recovery. Or try adb:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
i disable this menu setting in power!!! i flash this recovery...i go in bootloader mode and i press on recovery....and my phone just restart my rom!!!
FIX
For those of you that still don't know, it's because the newer version of the recoveries are buggy! If you have a CDMA Evo 3D, the correct recovery is attached (don't you just love me?).
Rename the file to "recovery" then
Go to fastboot and run "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
then if you want to boot into it from fastboot just run "fastboot boot recovery.img"
That's it!

did u try pressing "volume down+power button"?
usually this is the the way i enter recovery mode.
I had a similar problem what I ended up doing was turn my phone on bootloader mode and went to recovery and kept power pressed till it came on.
before that it would loop around the HTC screen.
Same Problem

I used htcdev to unlock my bootloader using the method shown here: go to youtube and search eNoL_EPJH9I
I have tried to update my phone to Android 4 however i believe that because my phone was unlocked the update failed...
I tried to re-lock my phone using the command fastboot oem relock and now i have no recovery, when i access the bootloader and select recovery it simply reboots the bootloader i have a CDMA HTC EVO 3D with HBOOT 1.5 on Sprint
When i try your method to reinstall the recovery i get this message:
sending 'recovery' (4832 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.130s]
writing 'recovery'...

Any ideas on how i can get my recovery back to stock so i can update my phone?

You have to have the stock recovery to take the ota. Run an ruu, that will get you back.

Definitely not bricked, you probably just scared a whole bunch of people.
Follow this i had the same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192245
when i open the fastboot.exe the adb shell windows (dos) opens and closes extremly fast no idea what it said
some people need to learn the definition of Bricked.
Bricked= exactly that the phone is now good for. a brick. (A.K.A: paperweight, doorstop, etc.) lol
yeah, just do what the others of told you, you'll get it squared away.

It is
fastboot flash recovery recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img
that you need to type in cmd. You have to tell it where to flash (in this case the recovery partition).
Let me know if that works for you.
thanks for your help now i have recovery working my phone still wont boot up ill have to find a factory rom on the web
Your welcome. Glad I could help!
There is a rom in the development section. Not sure if it works though. You could run the RUU and then redo everything now that you know exactly how.
Have you tried a factory reset from the bootloader after getting the recovery to work?
just did a factory reset thru TWRP and its stuck on the HTC logo screen trying to boot up same issue as earlier Im not sure why my phone will not boot up. seems like only thing i can do is access the bootloader
How long do you wait before you decide it wont boot?
10-15 minutes should i wait longer?
Nah, that should be good. http://forum.xdadevelopers.com/showthread.phpt=1092957&highlight=ruu
Do this then the whole process over.
Hey all,
so i had cleanrom ics installed on my 3vo. i installed it without freizas firmware.
anyways, due to pink camera issues, i needed to get the phone replaced, so i tried downgrading with the 1.13 pg86img (this was before i learned about the downgrade issues).
the system part of the update failed, which made my phone not able to boot past the initial HTC screen.
i then tried installing freizas pg86img to get my phone in working order again. the installation worked, but i still cant boot past the htc screen.
i can boot into the bootloader and access recovery (although its the stock htc recovery so i cant use it), and still have s-off.
any help would be greatly appreciated

If your s-off try running an ruu with the same hboot you have. If it boots up go check usb debugging. Then try to push the recovery via adb or fastboot flash one.

will an ruu run if i cant boot into the system? if so what should i boot into to get it working
edit: after doing lots of flashing, i was able to boot into the system with the 2.08 ruu. it upgraded my hboot to 1.5 and locked my bootloader, but i still have s-off. i was unable to change the recovery image, it kept failing, so i tried flashing an older ruu to unlock my bootloader. again i got the hboot back to 1.4, but the system part of the update still failed.

You should just flash a recovery threw hboot. Here's the latest twrp hboot.zip
http://db.tt/Zw4KCyW2
Drop it on your sd. Then power the phone off. Then press and hold the volume up button. Then tap/press the power button. Continue to hold the volume up button untill you see a white screen. Then wait you phone should recognize the zip. Follow the on screen instructions from there.

it's my first time I flashed my htc
I made a hboot flash to my htc amaze I got in to recovery mode and I received a red triangle I pulled the battery cause I couldn't cancel it.
and now it boot loops I can't get in the fastboot with vol down+power
but the USB charge it and I see 2 removeale device but I can't open this device
am I bricked my htc?
Thanks
I think as long as your computer can recognize your phone, it can be saved. Maybe you can try the unbricking project?
Try this command with adb
fastboot reboot-bootloader
And see if it boots into bootloader. If not then you can try to flash a recovery.img using fastboot commands. But it might not write the image if it doesn't have a proper hboot.
-------------------------------------------------
We are guinea pigs for smart phone technology.
-------------------------------------------------
The red triangle is the symbol you get when you don't have a recovery I believe.
Try flashing a recovery using a toolkit

It might be helpful if you provided some more information.
Examples are:
What hboot did you flash?
How did you flash it? What command was used?
What version was your phone running? Gingerbread or ICS?
Is your phone S-OFF'd? (Your phone is probably S-OFF'd already, or else you wouldn't be able to flash the hboot)
Stuff like that can make a world of difference.

wait, are you SURE about the command? Are you SURE it wasn't something like this:
fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
because "fastboot flash hboot" and "fastboot flash boot" are 2 different commands.
I recently had this issue with my one xl. I had flashed a wrong recovery, and my boot image was ****ED, couldnt recognize by pc. U need to find ur stock ruu, and run it. Ul get a boot_signed.IMG and a recovery_signed.IMG. flash both in fastboot.
Fastboot flash boot boot_signed.IMG
Fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.IMG
Eventho web won't recognize it and other things won't, fastboot commands seemed to work, I learned this yesterday.
when I insert fastboot command ...
when I insert fastboot commands it wait for device
http://www.android-dev.us/showthrea...ne-Toolkit-V3-1-4-9-2012-PERM-ROOT-Noob-Proof
use this toolkit... just boot into bootloader (volume down + power) then select the recovery you want.
boot loader is the white screen
i cant get in to the boot loader
I see only the htc white screen and it boot again
Ok so
Rooted
S-off
hboot 1.12.2222
was running Mean-rom 4.4
Then tried to install the new apk fix for ringtones
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900629
Phone rebooted then then continues to be stuck in boot loop.
What I have tried:
Factory reset in bootloader
clear storage in bootloader
reinstall TWRP to get in recovery as if I choose recover in bootloader it just boot loops.
Tried to install the RUU but it can not connect during boot loops and errors out.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Those are fastboot commands, you use the terminal
fastboot wipe recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You should be able to boot into recovery afterwards
What terminal? I'm a bit lost here
Do you have adb tools or Android SDK?
C:\android-sdk-windows
Open cmd prompt by opening SDK folder and then hold shift and right click, it will say open cmd prompt or something similar I don't recall if adb is in separate folder but I don't think so. From there you can plug in the phone in fastboot and type fastboot devices, it will tell you if you are connected or not. Download twrp and place it in the same folder. Then you can use the commands I listed earlier

Now that I am in fasboot usb on the bootloader the RUU can connect to phone via USB.
If I just flashed that and started all over would that work and do I need to unroot and relock before doing the RUU?

That's because I haven't used wipe in fastboot in quite a while, I'm sure I'm just confused on wipe and erase but you shouldn't need it, the first command should be fastboot erase recovery but like I said you shouldn't really have to, it's just like formatting before flashing the recovery, just fastboot flash recovery openrecovery.img or what ever the name is for the twrp file

Thanks recovery just loops, could never get in.
Ok this is where I am at (see OP)
We tried flashing TWRP and original recovery via ADB
We tried running RUU
I'm still stuck in a boot loop....
I am having a similar problem stuck in bootloader. I relocked to go to the new firmware and now am stuck in the bootloader. I can access adb but can't access recovery. I am now relocked. Can I unlock again with a fastboot command?
If you unlocked manually, HTC sends the unlock code code just use fastboot to flash, if you used regawmod, just run it again. I don't know if regawmod will recognize the phone in boot loader though
Is it possible to enter fastboot without a pc? I ask because I had read that if you enter recovery via fastboot its almost like being s-off. I was actually able to flash a kernel that way. Thanks for replying.

Most ROMS will give you the option on the power menu (when you press down power button) to "reboot to bootloader". From there, fastboot is the first option in bootloader. edit: also you could hold down power and vol-down at the same time from powered off state, also AmonRa will give you the option to reboot to bootloader under developer options.

No technique or series of events will ever magically allow an S-ON user to bypass the secure flag and flash a complete kernel, boot.img and all, through recovery. Simply is not possible.
You need to fastboot flash the boot.img which requires a PC.
Rebooting to recovery from the Rom, or entering recovery through bootloader doesn't make a difference.
But to get to bootloader which is what I think you want, turn off the phone then boot by holding power+volume down button.
I think you're talking about flashing a kernel in hboot, which doesn't have anything to do with fastboot. You place the PH98IMG.zip onto your external sd card and boot to hboot, say yes to the update, and if you get a main version is older error message, there's a fixmainversionlow.zip that you can flash to avoid that.
That puts you in hboot. To go into fastboot mode, you select fastboot there on the hboot screen.
