AOSP vs CM7 - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the difference between AOSP and CM7? Is it a completely different OS or a version of GB with proper porting to utilize all of the phones hardware specifically.

ASOP is completely stock as Google originally released it before the carriers and the manufactures molest it with garbage. CM7 is a totally optimized version of android with generally better performance, more options, and generally it's a version ahead of most non dev phones IE nexus 1 and nexus s.

In summary: CM7 is a real AOSP 2.3.X project with better performance (much better) and a few addons.

[Q] Eiherjar ROMs?

I just would like to know a little bit about these ROMs. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks as though there are 4 or 5 different ROMs with the "Einherjar" label on them in the DEV section. At first, quick glance it looks as though the only thing that seperates them is the themeing.
Can anyone who uses these ROMs explain to me what sets them apart from each other, and why you chose to go with them over Axura or Bionix?
Their team is large, different guys work on different projects. It's more than the theming, but there is only so much that can be changed from a user's perspective.
I LOVED the notification bar on Flagship (it changed colors depending on your app/background), and that rom was great... Been using Trigger for a little over a week and it's floored me... just amazing speed/stability.

yah so far it looks like Trigger would be the one i would go with.....ill give it a run later on....i loooove axura, but it can be a themers nightmare when switching between ROMs, and i care about appearance ALMOST as much as i care about performance
I'm a big big fan of Master and recommend it to many.... that said, Trigger is themed more to my liking and has been rock solid. Did you see the videos I put?

V2.0.1
V2.1.1
The best way to explain why there are both similarities and big differences in the EDT releases is to explain how we work as a team.
EDT Devs all have a project of their own that is their main area of responsibility. The roms are developed from a stock base - there is an exception to this when it comes to MIUI and the AOSP roms. This Dev has the support of all the other devs when something needs done - this explains the similarities, if one dev does the same thing on multiple roms. There is also members like white and behr who have their on special abilities and contribute to all of the EDT roms.
Duplicate post.
They made 2.2.1 stock rom. That makes them the best. Period. If u have not tried it. U should.

You do realize that its just 2.2.1 apps on a 2.2 ROM? The new Bionix Frost when it comes out is 100% 2.2.1, dev said himself...

Stand by battery life is great, as good as stock. When using the phone it drains a little bit faster, your overclocking by 400 so its expected. Overall i would say its as good as stock.

That's a bit over-simplified. It is much more than just 2.2.1 apps on a 2.2 Rom. It does take more to doing that than just placing the apps in there. It requires re-mapping all the apps, replacing and including the necessary lib files, etc.
Please do not continue an arguement that has been settled now that EDT, TW and Devs4Android are no longer at each others throats.

higher build# = better!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but in all seriousness there is plenty of information about the differences from froyo to gingerbread...the sdk highlights summarize it pretty simply
is the leap from froyo to gb as big as the leap from donut or something to eclair or eclair to froyo? no, or at least it doesnt seem that way
but its whats current
Gingerbread includes several optimizations for the Hummingbird processor, much like Froyo has a bunch of optimizations for Snapdragon. Most of the changes are not something the user will see and are really on the underlying OS AFAIK.

Ice cream Sandwich or CM Nightly 7.2.0?

Is ICS at a fully working state yet?
Which is recommended for the best speed?
Also is ICS (build 6) good for a daily driver yet?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
There's a list of known issues in the ICS thread. Its my daily driver.
Ics build 6 is amazing and it is my daily driver for sure. Mms works and video/camera does also and it's super fast so I would most definitely recommend ics.

Cm7 is still faster. But Ics plus glitch 14 is sick. And my 4 way lockscreen of course.

CM9 is my daily driver.
No reboots yet, currently using Medroid 6.1. Texasice and miui are good too.
No hw acceleration yet, but for me that just means no games or videos.
Oops just realized this is not a nexusone subforum
I like both but Cm7.2 is still better imo.

I bounce back and forth between both of them.
Does this only work on verizon?
I have to say the combination of THS build 6.1 w/ Icy Glitch kernel has really impressed me! It's now my daily driver replacing cm7.2...

[Q] best aosp/aokp Rom? Stability+feature filled

I'm looking for the best aokp or aosp Rom I can find but I can't find one that doesn't slow down after maybe an hour of using it.. any suggestions?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I'm a little partial to CounterShrike myself, but maybe I'm not the most objective person. Apophis and I have spent a lot of time packing as many features, enhancements, and bugfixes into as we can. It's not as feature packed as AOKP, but it's steps above stock CM9, and I haven't had any stability issues with it.
I have to agree with shrike. I've been running project rachel (1.2) since it came out and it has just the right amount of customization options while still keeping it pretty stock AOSP. I've had no random reboots and it actually holds mobile data much longer until an airplane toggle is needed than other aosp/aokps I tried.
I just haven't gotten around to updating to 2.0 as there aren't many imperative updates (afaik)
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Thanks I'm on aokp right now.. I'm still trying to decide between aosp or sense
Sent from my HTC Rezound using xda premium
AOKP has stability issues on this phone. I've never gotten it to run well. Any of the CM9 based builds should be much more stable. You'll lose some customization options, but the stability is worth it to me.
I'm tempted to go to stock rooted.. everything works.. I can't get video to work on joelz viperrom and countershrike has some underlying issues I don't like
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
What issues are you having? I've squashed all the bugs I know about, except the ones that are in AOSP in general.

I've never tried a custom Sense ROM because I had fears of HTC Sense being a battery killer.
hence why I like bare bones AOSP stuff

OP is looking for roms for the Rezound since this is the Rezound section..
My current favorites
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070947 Neo does good work. This is my favorite rom right now jellybean
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899085 this is one of the best ics roms.
this is one of the most innovative I have used and still liked. It can do anything
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2071043
this one is really vanilla (as far as CM goes that is. Its really good) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113140
I think that the first one has about the fastest boot time in existence, and a really good battery life. In my opinion it is very stable, I think a lot of people will agree.
I also personally dislike almost all sense roms. I feel that it is just bloatware. All of the roms I have tried have been really good though.
