My contacts are a mess, I have like 5 of each now i think. Need to figure out how to just have one sync with a perfected list of my contacts. Is there an app to help with this mess? I looked but didn't see any.
Well I just figured out gmail does a good job of merging the contacts from the pc
I had that same eproblem awhile ago. I had like 4-5 of the same numbers for the same person. Go into your GMail contacts on your PC and check and see if there are multiple entries per person. If so, just delete them. Also go to accounts sync on your tele and you can sync specific accounts. Like I have my GMail account synced but not my G+ account or Twitter (takes up data space btw).
i like on contact manager in market, but iits for social.
your problem it wont help.
ps: one start the first time very slowly, but the 2 or 3 is than good

Is it just me and my htc hero or its not possible to use more then 1 calendar with gmail account?
I have multiple calenders that I use with my gmail account but I only see the first one (work) and can't add events or see any other calendar!
Is there a way to work around this?
Thanks
go to the calendar, click menu, then the 'Calendars' icon.
You should be able to select multiple calendars. I have 6!
I already did that before I posted question here and this is
what I see there (take a look at attached picture)
I guess I didn't understand the question fully...
I have multiple calendars within my main Google calendar. I presume you have multiple google accounts with separate calendars?
I'm not sure you can configure your phone to pick up more than one calendar at a time.
I do have multiple gmail accounts but in this case we are talking about
ONE gmail account with multiple calenders. As you can see I get only ONE calender which I find bit odd since it should sync both my calenders.
Been looking on gmail account settings for a way to solve this but no luck so far.
After fideling with settings and going back and fort with gmail account setting
I finaly got my second calender on hero.
Here is what you need to do in case you have same issue as me:
1.Make appointment/entry on the web in your gmail account on you second calender (or on one you are missing on your phone)
2.Do following on your phone: go to settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications, find Calender and Calender storage and push Clear data button on both. This way you are dumping your existing data from calender on yor phone.
3.Go to you calender app on you phone and it wil start sync like it did first time, and voila both calenders are available now.
Well done mate, glad you managed to figure it out.
Out of interest. Did you add your second calendar (Private) after you originally synced your google account with your hero?
i.e. you have to follow your steps if you add another calendar from now on??
Cheers
Second one "private" was made the same time as I added "work" one (few years back), so in theory it should be synced along with work when I added my account on hero. Why it was not synced in the first place? ...one of "hero's" mysteries
I made a test calender just a few sec ago and this one did sync right away with hero, so no need for dumping cache and forcing sync to get new calender.
I had probably calendar cache issue which fixed it self when I dumped the whole thing and force synced.
Now we know
Here's the deal.. for a long time now I've just been using the FB sync like everyone else.. worked great since I had everyone on FB that I use on my phone, and it's automatically updated, cant beat that...
.. till one of my friends decided to close his FB account and the sync.. removed all trace of him from my phone LOL Since the facebook app hadnt really "sync'd" my contacts, just displayed my friends IN my contacts.. there was never a copy made to my Google contacts
This lead me to wonder if there is anyway to automatically do a TRUE sync? where it actually stores it in google contacts as well, instead of just displaying it.
Only way for you to have synced is to manually add the contact to your google account. That way if you happen to delete the facebook account, the google account will still have all your contact info backed up.
So I have three exchange accounts that sync with my phone. Only one is checked to handle contacts. A few days ago, I noticed I had 3 duplicates of my contacts when browsing my contacts, either directly from the contacts shortcut in my app drawer or via phone>contacts. I removed the account from my phone and readded it last night. Everything was fine until this morning when I noticed my phone was doing it again, showing duplicating contacts. Right now when I go down the list every contact associated with the exchange account is duplicated.
Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this? If so, wanna share a fix?

Does the US version not have a Merge Duplicate contacts option under settings??

Thanks for the reply! I have 'Merge with Samsung account' and 'Merge with Google' as the two menu options with merging in them. Under 'Contacts to display' I have chosen only to show my exchange contacts for the account I sync contacts with, so I know these duplicates are coming from one exchange account only. Also when I look online at Outlook.com all my contacts are not duplicated.
I d this problem with doubles not triples...all i had to do was select Merge Duplicate Contacts and it went through my contacts and all the duplicates were gone.

I wish I had that option... I just noticed my calendar events (birthdays mainly) are duplicated as well.
I would try the merge with Google if you have not already.

Help! I am facing the same isues th Exchange contacts n calendars. I removed the exchnge account n resyn. It was fine for a while, and then double contacts n calendars started to appear.
Same issue here....
I have a company exchange account and hotmail (exchange)....with contact sync only with my company account.
All the sync options are properly set for both of these accounts.
What i notice is that after a day or so... I will see my hotmail reloading all emails then duplicate contacts start to appear on my contact list.
It's weird because my contacts are from my company's not hotmail.
I have a similar setup on my last phone (Galaxy Nexus) and I do not have the duplicate contact problem.
Exchange Duplications
Anyone solve this, T-Mobile has been no help... I am having the same issues with my MS Exchange account, only the exchange account is multiplying contacts & cal events.

Yep, the only thing I would recommend, is to take a few minutes, or hours to arrange your contacts in your live account:
1. Delete contacts that you don't know
2.- Merge repeated contacts so ther is one contact with full information instead of multiple.
3.- Find on Internet how merge Facebook Calendar events on your live calendar (Very useful for events, and birthdays)
4.- If necessary, add manually, or via Office Outllok your current phone contacts to your live contacts. (Use outlook Connector to add your live account to Outlook, and edit your contacts from there, it much more easy and fast)
5.- If you do all the above steps you wont have to ever think about syncing or backing up contactas ever.
6.- If you add a Coporate Exchange account, contacts wont be merged or displayed on your contacts( that's cool, because most of the time, you dont even know that well of the people on your job) but if you have to write an email for example, you will be able to use your corporate adress book.
7.- If you want to add birthdays of people in your contacts list, don't make it through calendar, make it in the contact itself, so when you are reminded of an event or birthday you can write on facebook wall or text, or call directly from the calendar app.
Once you do that, it is really impressive how WP merge all your contacts from your different services ex: live, facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc, The very few contacts that aren't merged because for example you use nicknames or name abbreviations yo can merge with no hassle inside each contact.
If you do this, you are prepared for the best experience ever, because on the case of phone lost, or formatting or new phone you just input your live credentials and vualá you have your contacts, and calendar synced right away.
Besides that, you only have to find your favorites apps, taking in to you account that for example, facebook and twitter are already embedded in the operating system so they are not necessary.
Welcome to Windows Phone, it is an amazing experience
Excellent thanks!

These are good suggestions but probably not required.
When you add different accounts such as Hotmail, multiple Google accounts, Facebook etc, the contacts will all be merged if they share the same name. If not, you can still manually merge them on the phone. None of the information on the corresponding services is changed - only the way it is displayed on your phone. You can also un-merge certain contacts if you want to. You can also choose what contacts you want to see on the People hub - so for instance, you can turn off your Outlook (work) contacts.
The same is true for the calendars - you can choose which calendars to sync and which ones to show in the Calendar app.
I don't see a need to go through organizing everything online - can be a pain if you have hundreds of contacts.
In case of a lost phone, you still have all the data - just spread around on different services and it will be a breeze to set it up again.
Case in point: I have Hotmail, three Google accounts, Facebook and work email account set-up. Took me less than 5 mins to organize everything on the phone. I turned off Facebook and work email on my People hub - I don't want to see all those contacts.
Anybody else - if you have a different experience, please speak up. But I assure you syncing multiple contacts and calendars is a breeze.

Hello everybody,
I spent the last hour with what felt like reading about almost every birthday app in the play store.
But not a single one seems to do what I am looking for. *sigh
I have a lot of Google Contacts and I am pretty eager to have my friend's and colleague's brithdays in there. I usually add them manually.
Google Calendar has become an omnipresent companion in my life...so I used the "show birthday calendar" feature since it was introduced in the Calendar's "Labs".
To not miss out on birthdays of newer friends, which I haven't added to my Google Contacts yet, I subscribed to the iCal-Feed of Facebook, as well.
So far so good...but there are problems:
Problem #1:
I want to avoid facebook-synchronisation, because my opinion is that my whole adress-book is none of facebook's business. So syncing contacts and canceling the facebook ical-subscription is no option. Besides that I wouldn't be able to see all the other facebook events.
So around 50% of my birthdays appear twice in my Google Calendar, one pulled from Google Contacts and the other one from Facebook.
Problem #2:
It would be best to set reminders for individual contacts or groups and not for the entire calendar. The latter is the only option for subscribed calendars, such as the direct Google Contact pulled one, as well as the facebook feed.
So for a while I used eboBirthdays to sync all of the contact's birthdays into a new and separate editable "normal" Google Calendar "calendar". That worked quite well, even though I was missing out on the facebook contacts again.
(I know that eboBirthdays added a facebook sync feature, but many people chose to use different or abbreviated names on facebook (mostly for privacy reasons) which makes an automated sync impossible.)
Problem #3:
There are just too many contacts so that almost every day there are 3-4 birthdays marked in my calendar.
I organize all my contacts in many separate Google Contacts groups. This helps me to filter them in my all my contact applications easily and with no additional tools.
It would be great to select the displayed birthdays based on this groups as well.
Is there any birthday app that comes close to those functions?
Or is there another solution that I am just overlooking?
I would be thankful for every hint
All the best!
No one? :/
Is there nothing out there?
