Hello!
To begin, I used this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133446) and successfully updated my Hboot to 1.02. Now to the problem. I want to S-off my device so i can root it. When I have entered my beta key in AlpharevX nothing happens, it just thanks me for my participation. I think it may be because this is the updated version (old version was beta 2). So what do you guys think? Do anyone then have the beta 2 version?

Yes, you should download a new copy of AlphaRevX and run that and then get a beta key.

It won't help you. The AlphaRevX site was taken down with the release of Revolutionary. It's not possible to generate keys for AlphaRevX anymore. (Also, each version of AlphaRevX required a different key, so even if you had already generated a key at some point, you have to find the correct version of AlphaRevX to use it with.)
Revolutionary (http://revolutionary.io/) is what you should be using now. Is this what you are saying you were having trouble with? Make sure you are not trying to use an AlphaRevX key with Revolutionary.
I can download again and retry tomorrow but if it doesn't work i will have to wait for something new... gahh, if i just had done it a bit earlier >.<

If Revolutionary won't work for you, then AlphaRevX wouldn't have worked either. It's using the same exploit. You are most likely experiencing a conflict with a driver or program (HTC Sync, virus protection, etc.).
Thanks so much! HTC Sync was the problem

Not sure if you can downgrade the HBOOT but I dont see why you would need to. If it is because you need root follow these guides. Even if you already have a working goldcard make it again mine was working for other phones but wouldnt work for this.
Part 1
Part 2
Once you have finished them you should have HBOOT 1.01 with Android 2.1 full root with clockworkmod so you can flash any rom you would like.
thanks a lot
I get the way to root,I only want to know how to downgrade the HBOOT
English is not my mother tongue,so my English is not so good
pardon
For now no way to downgrade HBOOT 1.01 to HBOOT 1.00 or 0.43 .....
We wait for a solution ....

Now we have a "BECOUSE"...
AlphaRev has made S-OFF for our legends here.
alpharev . nl (without spaces)
But this is only possible with hboot 0.43
We will wait...
S-OFF is only really useful for real devs, not leaches like the rest of us.
S-OFF is good for anyone who wants to change things in system..no more signing zips

Seems you don't need to sign zips for flashing with ROM Manager. Works for me anyway.
I don't have much need for S-OFF myself -- the only thing I can think of is that it should let adfree android work right after flashing CM. Saves me the extra reboot to flash my symlink-etc-hosts.zip..

Yeah, I know, I know. It's just me being lazy end letting ROM Manager do everything for me. Download through ROM Manager and then flash both zips from recovery might be the most convenient.
(..or just S-OFF, which I plan to do when I get back from vacation )
waiting and waiting. We should be pacient.
I don't even own a Legend, but I've lurked around the Desire, Desire Z and G2 forums - and I own a Nexus One.
I've noticed that procedures for downgrading the HBOOT on these devices seem to involve making a modification to the misc partition, which then fools the phone into accepting a RUU/PASSIMG/etc that downgrades HBOOT.
I see here a procedure that downgrades from the Froyo OTA using a similar idea:
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/323201/downgrading-from-froyo-ota/
But the resulting HBOOT is still 1.001.
Could this method be adapted to accept a RUU that will roll back the HBOOT even further?
Nope. Current HBOOT (1.x) does not allow to fool itself and this is the main problem. You may play with misc and downgrade rom, but HBOOT remains the same. The only 0.43 version of HBOOT allows downgrading.
I have the latest version on my evo 3d android 2.3.4 can it be rooted with unrevocked, i was trying to do it but it said it doesnt support this current version and suggestions please?
I'm having a similar problem, but I was using revolutionary, but when it showed me the hboot version it says 1.50 and that this version is not currently supported. Would it be safe to do it the HTC way? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

your suggestion is to wait for revolutionary to be updated
Yup or do the htc dev bootloader unlock wich is a long complicated process and I heard I won't get wimax and wifi on some roms and that installing a different kernel is a pain in the as...... So yeah I guess I'll wait **** I waited almost 2 months for the regular evo to get rooted in 2.3 android I guess I have to do the same here again.

plus if you wanna install the cm7 alpha you must be rooted with the revolutionary method which means anyone with the 2.3.4 ota is out of luck until revolutionary is updated

Is that true of just people not knowing how to do it properly with a HTC-unlocked phone? From what I've read, they can flash kernels, but it has to be from fastboot. You just remove the kernel from the .zip and flash it from fastboot and flash the .zip from recovery. I haven't paid that much attention to it since I'm s-off and could certainly be wrong.

NO, unless you have S-off. If you read the information posted by the developer on the market page, about halfway down it says:
PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PURCHASING (Important info below!!!)
Manual to the app at

Please Read the Manual

When you're thinking of installing apps that require root access, it's a good idea to read all the information to find out if it supports your phone.
boot manager DOES too work with HBOOT 1.5
i personally use the htc evo 3d cdma version and have hboot 1.5... i have successfully installed it and have flashed several different roms ... the s-off is NOT required...but an ulocked bootloader is if you feel i did something to make it work or any questions you can find me here or at the init2winitapps.com forums as willie62226...thank you and sorry they mislead you with the information

Before questioning , you should have searched once...... It works on hboot 1.5 and any S-ON device IMO. I use it on my HTC unlocked 3D without any issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500538
@twolazyg
It works ,LOL. S-OFF is not necessary. The Dev of the app told me, he mentioned S-OFF on market to insure zero issues. The only problem with the app on S-ON device is , if we cant get a SLOT ROM to boot up then we need to fastboot recovery and flash update.zip located in sdcard/bootmanager/phoneROM...... this process can be skipped for S-OFF device.
So I just put CM10.0 on my phone, using TWRPS 2.4.4 (CWM didn't seem to respond for me) and I can boot into Android but the touchscreen doesn't work. The touchscreen does work in recovery however. Can anyone help me out here because I've been searching for solutions about this all night, and I eventually gave up and decided to make this.
Thanks, in advance.
EDIT: May I note that I applied CM10.0 because 10.1 got stuck at the CM boot screen for some reason. Also, I was updated to the latest stock software before I started this whole process.
You need to downgrade your touch panel and TWRP to something like 2.3.3.0. to run CM10. Right now you're limited to running ROM's that are software version 3.16. Read Captain Throwback's firmware thread in development for more info. The best way to downgrade would be by getting S-off. Makes life much simpler

How come it used to work in windows and they changed it? What a hassle.
There is Facepalm S-off but it doesn't work on 3.16.

Well I think I'm going to put Mean Bean on until I can go to a friend who has Ubuntu (I have 0 experience with it) and then get S-OFF and then I can switch to CM.
Is there any chance CM will simply be updated soon to work with the new touchscreen driver? I can't post in their thread because I'm a noobie.

Your firmware is up to date so no need to downgrade it. You just need to downgrade your touch panel, nothing else. I believe it's posted in Captain Throwback's firmware thread in the development section.

He links to here: http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?13192-RADIOS-RECOVERY-FLASHABLE-Jewel-Radio-Collection
Apparently what I'll need to downgrade to is this:
-3.15.651.16 JellyBean OTA-
"Full" Firmware zip
Includes Radio 1.12.11.1119, PRI 2.87_003 & a few other smaller updates.
NOT INCLUDED IN ZIP: HBOOT.img, recovery.img (stock), and boot.img
tp_SYN3202.img zip (for downgrading purposes only)
Boot.img Only (signed) | Mirror
Can be flashed through bootloader/fastboot while S-ON on newer HBOOT

Which of these do I need to download and, I assume flash from recovery?
Nevermind, I got it working! Only problem is the phone is no longer activated... Hmmm I'll have to get ahold of Sprint tomorrow.
I was trying to S-OFF my HTC One using moonshine's method but could not get it to work properly.
As you will see from the screen shot (attached), its stuck there and doesn't go further.
I have gone over the guide multiple times. Fast boot is unchecked , USB debugging is checked, ADB and fastboot drivers are working.
I am currently using a T-Mobile version HTC one with the following software information:
Android Version: 4.1.2
HTC Sense version: 5.0
Software Number: 1.27.531.11
HTC SDK API Level: 5.12
Baseband version: 4A.17.3250.20_10.40.1150.04L
Can somebody here guide me what I am doing wrong or missed out something ?
You can't s-off. If you want to know more just use the search function or Google. This has been discussed many times in many threads.

Pretty sure u need soff to do super cid
Or anything further than just unlock and root.
You may be able to flash the older 1.27.531.8 Rom and then try it since the bootloiader wasn't updated.
If your on 1.27.531.11 you have to downgrade with a Rom or ruu
Don't quote me but I think people have don'e this to get soff
