hi there.
I'm running my x10 with 2.2 freexperia, baseband 54 (dunno why but with any higher baseband i notice huge battery drain, but it's not the problem, i could change bb) and kernel 14072011.
Problem is: i want to try WB 2.3 gingerbread, but i noticed that the kernel it comes with doesn't have overclock.
Now i might sound completely stupid but since i've popped up the new kernel with overclock, i'm running my snes, gba and whaterver emulators (yeah my life kinda depends on that, i'm a nostalgic hardcore gamer!) at almost full speed and i love it.
Question is: Can i install WB 2.3 and keep my old kernel? Or, if someone's using those emulators, the full package of WB rom (lncluding his kernel) is fast enough to allow me to run those emulators at full speed?

You mean like full flash 10.1 support (because that isn't there yet....)? Anyways Cronos Droid 1.7.1 with JIT and Sense is the fastest ROM in my opinion It is very stable even with JIT and it doesen't have "performance lags" (where the ROM suddently lags) like other ROMs has I get a constant score in Linpack of 4.6 - 4.8 with my phone OC at 710MHz and that is a very small difference (which is very good) Also I haven't seen anything like that in other ROMs
Hello everyone!
I have a simple question that I would like to have answered. I'm adept at running custom ROMS on my GTAB, but I've never really messed with kernel stuff before.
There isn't exactly a 'topic' that deals with this, and pershoots website doesn't have that much detail either.
So I would like to know what kernel would be the best for me to run.
I've got VEGAn-Tab GingerEdition running and I just installed pershoots 2.6.32.39-cyanogenmod and it should be the ginger edition
Is this the right kernel or should I be running another?
Thanks
There are basically two kernels that are being actively supported on XDA, pershoot's and clemsyn's (clemsyn has several kernels out, but they're all just slight variations on the same kernel). If you want to overclock above 1.4GHz and/or adjust the voltage settings, then you should try clemsyn's. If not, then stick with pershoot's. It's what I use. It's what most of the devs on here include with their ROMs. For me, it seems to run better with less work. But try them both out for yourself and see what you like better. That's the only way you can really know if you're running the "right" kernel.
Also, pershoot just updated his kernel to 3.6.32.40, if you want the latest version.
Froyo use clemsyn. Gb use pershoot. Jmho...
Hey Thanks! This stuff gets quite confusing.
Another question here. I have installed Roms but how do we install a Kernel? Do we install prior to the Rom?
Thanks in advance
I've tested out every version.
1- froyo -->clemsy
2- ginger --> pershoot
3- flash kernel as you would with any other zip file. Do not use calk wipe all zip.
Hi,
I just flash my S2 to MIUI 1.812, can I upgrade my kernel to speedmod k1-t22 ? Thanks!
You can use any kernel.
Regards.

Just want to tell you, yes, I can install any kernel on any roms, but it may cause some problems, especially like the 2.3.5 rom.
I tested, whatever I apply speedmod k1-t22 or ninphetamine 2.0.5 on MIUI 1.8.12, also got a strange problems: the screen will keep jump back to lock screen within 3-5 seconds. The phone also becomes very heat after applied these kernel. Only the original kernel work fine with MIUI 1.8.12. Do you know what is the issue?
Its true that some kernal may not work to well with some roms.the ninphetamine 2.0.5 kernal will heat up as it is over-volted or something like that.the 2.0.2 kernal is more battery friendly and doesnt heat up as much.chainfire is always a good one too cos they stay close to standard but give you root and cwm too
Hi there, I just installed CM7 stable and faux123, but now PES2012 dont work
Im sure that faux123 will release a new version soon, but for my surprise there are 3 good unoficial kernel for atrx:
FAUX123: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040
CLEMSYN: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354502
KHOLK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153003
So wich one on its stock clock version 1.0Ghz, are most compatible (runs every game that 2.2.2 did) and most durable (battery life)?

I know what you mean about games stop running on different kernels. I have one game in particular that is very picky and only seems to run on darkside lite 3.1.0 (you could also do the 3.1.2 update) but if I flash any kernel over the top besides the one it comes with such as fauxs the game stops working. So for me i just flash darkside lite with no kernel for picky games. and then have a nandroid backup of cm7 with the faux 1.45 overclock for other stuff I want to do. I literally switch between roms all the time! Depending what I have the need for for the week or day.
Faux123 is the best IMO for stability and battery life.
I'm on an international atrix and I use faux's 1.0 ghz cm7 ext-4 kernel
I was wondering, since my phone is already at 2.3.3 what do I gain from Wolf's ROM.
I simply doesn't understand enough about Android to know where the gains are.
The main thing I am looking for is increased battery life. Will this ROM help?
