[Q] Can you remove the Touchwiz UI? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I intended to buy a SGT 10.1 but this morning at the shop I noticed that it had the Touchwiz UI. This represents a problem for me because I like the look and feel of the stock Android, and brings concerns about future updates because from my experience models with custom UIs take longer to update than those with the stock UI.
My question is, can you remove the Touchwiz UI while still keeping the ROM the device comes with? Also, if you can't: can you install a stock ROM where everything works?
Thanks in advance.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Yes just flash a stock rom after you root
Plus they come stock

Hi gtuansdiamm, thanks for your reply.
Can you point me to any stock roms here on XDA? The ones I've seen seem to be "stock" as in "the one that comes preinstalled", as in "the one with Touchwiz". I hope I'm wrong with that one.
Also, are stock roms for the 10.1 fully functional? Or is there any downside to them?

[Q] Best Rom for GS2 ?plz help, waiting to load one for first time today , thanks

I have rooted my GS2, and wondering what the best ROM is?
I get the impression that Cyanogen 7 is best by general opinion. Is there any others which I have overlooked?
Thankyou
Gettin' impatient!! any one??? (waiting to load ROM right away)
if you want an answer...use the search button...thats what its there for..
but anyway use either BatistaRom or Androidmeda..
Oh, another one...
Yes, cynagogen is the bestest. I use it many times and ist gut.
it depends on what you want if you want true android experience than you should go for cyanogen mod or if you like TW than go for OMEGA ROM
CM7 for AOSP or for TW based, I would say touch x power, villian, or leomar's.
Best ROM threads are subjective..........
Best thing to do is take your time to read ROM threads and make a backup of ROM using then flash away find what ROM/Radio suits you best.
On that note thread closed.

[Q] Updating from KI3, where to?

Hi guys,
I have been using in a more or less satisfying way the mentioned ROM, [wrong]KI5[/wrong] AHEM, KI3, under the darkyrom modification. I didn't quite like the glowy stuff, but anyway. I would like to have an upgrade, since I've read there are way newer versions already (gosh this moves fast!). So far I'm rather satisfied, but the contacts bother me a lot. I get a lot of FC whenever I try to modify anything within the contacts. So I want to change the ROM and (hopefully) get rid of the issue. I am currently doing a Titanium backup and CWM backup. So my questions go as follows:
1: If I chose Cyanogenmod, would I have any problem? I mean, I have root from CF-root if I'm not mistaken, and then now running darky rom. Is there any step I should follow, or can I just do an update.zip?
2: If I chose any other ROM (preferably the less customized possible, I basically go with GO Launcher and that's it), which one is the most recommended/stable etc? I prefer if it looks more android stock than touchwiz anyway.
PS: Does MHL work already on cyanogenmod?

All the information you need and more is available in the CyanogenMod 7 (w/ Gingerbread 2.3.7) for Galaxy SII Q&A thread, just follow the instructions in the first post carefully.
All the stock ROMs are in the [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ1/2 Download thread. If you don't want a stock ROM, browse through the rest of the ones on offer.

Q: What are the known issues?
A: Issues that I can remember:
- Video playback - some formats are not recognized, use an alternative app for video playback
- Camera - some modes don't work
- TVout, MHL
- FMRadio
- Issues when using the 2G/3G-Switch
- Volume issues (some report too high, others too low)

Thank you for the listing, I already saw it. It's fully stock, so I wasn't interested.
I also wanted an update on the situation of cyanogenmod which actually you gave me, so thank you.
But I also wanted recommendations of people, to see what ROMs they consider stable.
I would like to be able to modify both the icons and the off-screen animation so it looks like stock android (not touchwiz). Everything else I would like to keep it...So what would you recommend me?
So many ways to go...
Cm7 nightly looks good. Still waiting for release so if FCs are a problem you might not like it. I only got a few anyway but still.
Stock samsung is still best for me. Add jkay mods for sure will give you great themes and New lock screens and nice system features like CRT.
Go launcher ex
Go sms pro
Go contacts ex
All good and themed.
Good luck.

full feature custom rom for s3

hi guys
what custom rom can you recommend? i am looking for a custom rom that is filled with features and very stable. and possible i can choose which launcher to install? i am looking for a rom that has all the features that the stock rom has. sadly i tried jellybam sadly the rom still does not have burst shot and capture images while doing HD video recording.
thanks guys
It's against the rules to ask for best ROM. Check the popular ROMs and see if they satisfy your needs
oh sorry about that i did not know. where can i find the best rom?
LOL...
it's against the rules to ask for a best ROM.
You can find your best ROM in the development sections
If you want feature packed, try something like OMEGA. Stock based. Else, if simple and sleek gets your boat afloat, whip in some CM10.
Bother to read and you will find all the roms have a description .

[Q] Android 4.2 smooth with Samsung apps?

Hey guys as im looking for a more smoother experience on my phone, im thinking of downloading a custom rom such as cyanogen rom which removes all unnecessary bloatware. However im wondering is it possible to keep the stock samsung apps :dialer, planner and memo e.g. is there somewhere I can download these apps and flash them?
Thanks
No. These apps don't work on non samsung roms. Samsung roms exist with bloatware removed.
Please don't ask questions in general. That's what q&a is for

[Q] MIUI v5 for the S3 - which flavour?

Greetings, fellow modders
I'm looking for a MIUI v5 ROM to flash onto my gf's S3 (it's the international version and on 4.1.1 stock firmware). She's bored with TouchWiz and I think she would enjoy MIUI because of the superior and far better looking UI.
Is there a particular ROM you would recommend? I'd go for the official one since it' built from source, but I see many reports of a "sudden death bug", could someone tell me what it is (does th phone simply lock-up or reboot?)?
I'm not a fan of ported ROMs and those with a bazillion tweaks added, but if you'd suggest one as the best choice, I'd be willing to give a shot
(I'm on the xda app and I couldn't find an S3 Q&A sub-forum, sorry for missing it if there is one :/ )
there are not so many MIUI roms for Galaxys3, hence u should try them yourself and make ur own opinion.
:highfive:
You need to reset your XDA app it should show the Q&A forum .
What rom best rom posts are not allowed anyway .
