(Q) Anyone noticed an improvement on duo touch? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so I have been reading that the duo/multi touch has not been improved/altered on 2.3.3 but...
I was using google maps to check everything functions and I found that I could rotate the map with my fingers.
Usually I just pinch zoom but this time the map rotated. Also I can use 3 fingers on the screen and with some deft finger action. Lol I can zoom in and out and rotate pretty much at the same time.
Can't recall having this ability on 2.1 or the custom roms I have used so...
Is this an improvement or something I have previously over-looked?
Sent from a corner of hell using an X10i 2.2.3 rooted and bloat free.

WTF?, check on my GGL 2.1, ...my friend you are correct, heh so no ARC/PLAY for me, I'll stick to my X10 then..
as you maybe know on MT for 2.1, when AXYS crossed they messed, they could not cross, so in games there a huge problem with that.
BTW the rotate future do on 2.1 do show some responce, but very little because of that AXYS problem.
any way try that APP to ckeck :
market.android.com/details?id=com.batterypoweredgames.mtvistest
*on 2.1 when youtry to cross the AXIS, the point jump to reverse way LOL, so it just impossible to play anything then Angry Birds (zoom).
anyway post your results here.

The keyboard works better.....

but what about the first guy statement ?
I can't try, coz wait for GGL 2.3.3.

camera software 2003se

i used to have the proper camera software installed on my se 2.02 device, which didn't go boo when taking a picture in landscape mode...
but my device crashed and i lost everything,
now i've tried to find the right software again but somehow i can't find it, tried several different cabs from chinese to english but nothign worked.
maybe somebody could give me a hand there.
thanks in advance.
well i've found it, after hours of struggling.
this version is compatible with se, maybe it'll save somebodys time.
Camera
Can this version support the landscape mode completely Bro?
Screenshot of mine in portrait with icons - but landscape no icons available.

all of the camera software supports landscape even the older versions that came with Wm2003 instead of SE, just hit the contacts button to go from portrait to landscape while in the camera app. Has always worked good on mine.
That's right...just press the contact button and you have them all.

not really... go into the today screen, switch to landscape, then start camera and you'll see what happens...
i'm on the xda train since, umm since the xda2's been released in germany.. and well it's PR!
Thanks Bros
Thanks for the trick Bros - learning something new everyday.
dutty aka pwns it's great to see a familiar name - miss the glory days Bro!
Landscape Mode for the Camera in XDA II
I like solutions that are simple, and you couldn't get much simpler than mine to produce a photo in Landscape!
First, get into the camera mode. Then hold the XDA II in front of you, so you can see the camera view on the screen. Then (the really clever bit!) rotate your wrist through 90° and, voila, the image is now in Landscape.
Works for me!
yeah, krueger ;P well it was up again but it went down 2 days ago...
about the camera it's not about "a camera that supports landscape function" it's about "a camera that works properly when using wm2003 se in rotated mode"

Google Maps 5

Big news about the latest version of the Maps app. It will have downloading of vector data instead of bitmaps so seamless smooth zooming and 100th of the file size, 3d buildings, enhanced multitouch gestures and most importantly OFFLINE MAPS!
Anyone want to guess at which features (if any) will make it to the Legend? Vector maps would be good but I am most interested in the offline maps (which prob wouldn't work without getting the vector version)
great news. vector graphics are a great tool for small and good looking apps or animations (by now only adobe seemed to notice).
they should only activate navigation world wide.
If you want to use Offline-Navigation you can try maps-brut:

I think most features except for the multitouch rotate, because it requires "distinct" or "true" multitouch which I'm sure the legend , the desire, or even the nexus one does not have. But everything else should work.

It'll manage a rotate, no problem
It should work, though I have a feeling sometimes it will rotate the wrong way. Kinda like the pinch apart pictures in the 3d gallery, or trying to play 2 player pong
That being said I hope we get this release, I sure like the sounds of vector, it will play nicely with my 500mb data plan.

Why would it rotate the wrong way? It has no reason to.
EDIT: thinking about it, you're right, sorry.

Lol, all good.
I guess we'll see when it drops. HTC phones will probably screw up the rotation gesture.
Did anyone see any news on when it is released? They said in a matter of days, and that was about a week ago. I realize "days" could mean months, but usually it means less than a week.
It's already out there for download, look here:
http://pocketnow.com/android/google-maps-5-for-android-with-3d-vectoring-now-available
Just installed them ... and I must say! It works, smooth zooming and even the 3D rotation with two fingers, the compass mode! brill!!!
Mart
3d rotation doesnt work for me... even the desire is listed as only "partially supported" are u sure it works for you? however it would be nice to have at least some buttons to rotate the map
It's been pushed to the market..updating now.
Working alright, I don't get either two finger rotate or two finger to tilt. I definitely love the new rendering method..everything fades in now, much faster to load, much more fluid experience. Had one hiccup so far where it didn't render properly but it figured itself out.
Edit: Ooh! Theres some 3d buildings.
No rotate or tilt here on my Legend.
:sadpanda:
tilt works on my phone - sliding up and down with two fingers
tilt, compass works here with CM6.1 although I can't see any buildings like in the demo
And I can't get the rotation to work
Tilt doesn't work on my Legend with CM6.1. Can see 3D-buildings though, and compass mode works.
I can see the 3D models in NY / Berlin, but I also can't tilt :O
+ Whats my map won't rotate like a compass when I turn. Do i have to enable something in maps for that?

You need true multi touch for that .. legend does have that so that feature might not work ..

i can't update it from the market any external links please ?
Is there really no-one who can tilt accept for me?
I can tilt but I can't rotate with the multitouch feature.
It's working on both CM6.1 and Blayo's WWE froyo ROM (B0.1)

What Dialer do you use?

I am currently using Dialerone.. I give it a 4 out of 5... The only issue I have with it is that the dialer buttons are so small. It is very hard to hit the buttons with one hand.
I contacted the developer and he would assist with making them bigger but he said he needed a streak designer.. Whatever that means.
The buttons look great on the droidx nice and big.. but small on the streak..
Does anyone know of a dialer that is comparable to the default dialer with large buttons, but also has t9 lookup built in?
thanks
.. edit.. second issue i have is the call button is so damn small, it is half the size of a number key.

You might take a look at aTakePhone. I think I read it has a T9 option. Not sure of the button size. I used it all the time on my Palm Treo. Developer is VERY responsive!
http://www.shsh.com/
Tried a few of them...
Dialerone seems to be the best..
only thing i miss in the default one was T9
You may have a look at thaidial
It does have the T9 too!
<but, eh, it retains the small buttons problem.. But, I think they are a bit bigger than the Dialerone>
Its free, give it a try too.
care,
Sony.

Installed Dialerone last night. It was ok. But when I wake up this morning, a lot of my apps was force closing, even mess with the frame res apk. I found out that it was the Dialerone was messing with it. When I uninstalled the app, the phone is back to normal.
ramtix,
What rom are you running? When you report stuff like that you need to provide more info.
Even though your problems started after you installed dialerone that does not mean that dialerone is the cause. It could be a combination of apps that is the problem, in other words when they are both on the phone you have issues and with only one no issues.
I use dialerone with no problems. I'm running 318, with the performance fix on an unlocked (direct from Dell) Streak.

3D Eyetracking UI Where?

Guys this launcher is damn cool
http://gizmodo.com/5159229/3d-eyetracking-cellphone-interface-is-like-deep-man
but i think i have searched for more than 20 pages for download link i couldn't find it plus that even is not mentioned the release date,
I'm really disappointed , second thing is that all current launchers except spb shell and mxhome x and regina all only matter of icons and some cube turning , nothing more.
Any help??????!!!!!!
the others are boring i need 3d awesome launcher.
Shouldnt work without front facing camera anyway.
I wouldnt expect the defy to do this.
there is no need for a front cam, it works like the diamond-hologram , only by moving the phone !
i want to try mxhomex , but i cant find it anywhere
So how do you know that?
It might work with the 3d compass to give that holo feeling but i doubt that as they clearly state, that it takes your eye-position into account. If it wouldn`t do that it will be very prone to displaying a wrong viewing angle when the user moves around as it has no means of detecting the relative position of the eyes.

its a concept not released and wont be released anytime soon
Hehe it's not a big deal at all... All it's controlled by the accelerometer, and have nothing to do with a frond facing camera.

[HOW-TO] Better GTA 3 Graphics on TouchPad!

Unsure if this has been posted before but by replacing the gta3.set in Android/com.rockstar.gta3 (I think that's correct) you get lights, shadows, blood, better rendering etc. There is no TouchPad specific version that ive seen but this one works. Backup your original just incase.
http://db.tt/CA4uhInX
After you replace it, start up the game and go into controls and move the virtual buttons back to their original positions as they get moved.
Again sorry if double post.
Thanks!
(I take no credit for the modified file)
didn't even know they had GTA for the TP. I'll be looking into this one for sure.
Yep in android market, you may have to tweak build prop for it to show or buy with a different device and side load.

im running alpha 3.5 by the way.
Changed everything for me. Lights now work etc. I'm on 3.5 beta and of course it uses more resources this way. Be sure to kill any tasks before playing.

Cyanogenmod settings/Tablet tweaks has an option for full screen apps so you can keep your status bar visible or hide it. I use the home button to view/hide status bar in full screen games.

Thanks for the tip. Good find
Cool,thanks for the tip.Yay,blood! LOL
yeah it works
Thx love it!, and lags not so much! Seems alright no overclocking
Okay, after testing I had to revert to original .set file. The new .set file was causing my miui.us to crash randomly on it's own. At first I thought it was caused by my tweaking with overclocking, but even after I reversed those changes I would still randomly get booted out of miui. After I reverted the .set file the crashes stopped. Bummer. I really was digging the brighter graphics (and the blood, lol)-although it the game was noticeably more laggy.
