With all the people out there interested in getting rid of the sense features on their phone and going full aosp.
I think it would be cool to strip down a sense rom and replace the sense features with mock sense applications. I for one know that you can get a mock sense 3.0 lockscreen and you can make your home screen look pretty close to sense with some fancy widgets and adw ex launcher. I would like to keep the quick settings bar as well, but strip it down some and add the pull down settings like aosp, but keep the task manager thingy. That's pretty cool to me.
Anyone up to the task of putting that one together?
There's already two I think like that, but suggest it in the appropriate ROM threads where the devs ask for ideas.
EDIT: Yea senseless and supra I think has what your looking for.

Thank You. Will do.
So you want to take the sense applications out of sense and replace them with applications that aren't sense but look like sense?
Dialer one can be made to look a lot like the sense dialer, and with a lot more options and customization.

Just a random idea. I've seen others do it with the EVO 4g. Supposedly makes it faster. I'd like to see it. That's all.

i meant the contacts, not the widget. the dialer and contacts which is call contacts on vanilla but people on sense. i do not like the layout of the contacts on vanilla.. is there anyway like import the sense people over or something?
These types of questions are asked so often....
the answer is no, definately not, never will, never can. You need all the htc frameworks for it to run, and to have those the rom needs to be sense based.

Try Dialer One from market or aTAKEphONE. Last is paid app and first is free. They have kind of sense-like-dialer suggesting names while typing numbers or t9 letters.
your only option is a sense rom that has had most of the other sense stuff ripped out of it.
like superhero 2 (by the villain team) or similar.
Couldn't you just use a sense rom and then use the default android home? That's give you the htc framework and the vanilla interface.

the ones with much of the other sense stuff ripped out actually do perform faster than full sense roms just running a different launcher. it's strange, but true. It hink sense must run a bunch of background processes or something that aren't absolutely necessary for the most useful sense stuff to still be available (like the people app etc).

how do we rip out such sense stuff?
and how so we change the colour of the dailer? and the contacts
Well, I don't know about the rest of you but I enjoy the functionality of MySense in certain respects. My dislikes are not enough to get me to jump to an alternative launcher but they are enough to make me want changes.
In my eyes.... two things will make Espresso aesthetically pleasing and more functional. The first being redirecting/replacing the My Faves with Browser or messenger. And the second... changing the drawer icon to the FROYO blocks icon.
Now, I don't have a full grasp on what would be involved in doing so, but common sense or my lack of understanding perhaps tell me those 2 icons and the 1 remapping can't be too involved. To anyone out there ready and willing to take this on... I will volunteer to be the guinea pig for testing. Me and Nandroid are best friends.
Looking forward to it.
you forgot your recent app's thing lol or did you find that one?

Lol, not forgotten... that is still on my list in the quest of a perfect MT4G. I am going to make that one my personal project. I figured it is in my best interest to enlist some "qualified" help for the Espresso Project.
lol the things you mentioned above are my exact problems with the stock launcher as well everything else i like as of lately ive jus been using a combination of iced glacier and ADW to get sumthing almost similar to wat you discribed but in all i would love to see an actual rom that benifits both i too will be a tester for anyone who decides to take on this project and good luck

i agree ADW doesnt have any real widgets so it does put u at a loss. if sumone could successfully merge the two launchers and have the benifits of both we would have a fricken great rom for this phone. i tried to flash the apks from the glacier rom onto the ADW launcher but it freezes the homescreen i cant get the widgets to successfully adapt to the ADW protocols which puts me back to sqaure one lol
what is root?
I turned my phone on and now the screen glows???? wtf your rom borkded it.... can I abd push ota or does the motherboard need fixing???? thanx in advance

Motherboard for sure... I will PM you my address. Sent me your phone and I will fix it when I get a chance.
-iced glacier,
-adw
-pure calendar widget
-stock twitter app & widget
-simiclock (has weather now)
-quick settings for the best customizable power and brightness controls and can be launched from tapping simiclock when set up that way, also can be added to status bar
-circle battery (just looks cool and clean)
All of this together makes me very pleased with this phone. I have test out sooooo many different apps for these functions and various roms on other phones.. just my taste and opinion.. but give them a try if you havent.
Ive been looking through peoples themes and what not and Im curious as how to change icons and screens, is it a skin or is it the rom or what? Just for example i like how some people have the circle battery instead of the battery icon and things like that, if someone could help me out id appreciate it alot. Thanks in advance

Things like the circle battery and anything on the taskbar are either going to be part of a rom or a theme. You can do them individually yourself but you would have to do some research on theming. You also need to be rooted with s-off. If you like a more stock look rather than sense launchers like launcher pro from the market offer a lot of themes and icon packs that can be installed with or without root.

Im currently rooted S-Off running Bamf 3.0 Sence RC4.9 what exactly are launchers? Sorry just trying to figure out what everything is...
A launcher is what runs the whole user interface. Home screens, dockbars, icons, and shortcuts. HTC phones comes with sense. (except the g1, g2, and nexus 1) Sense is actually more than just the launcher its a while UI overlay. Sense's launcher is really called rosie but that's not really important here unless you are planing on learning to theme. If you look in the market there are launchers like Launcher Pro, ADW, and their variants plus many more. Just search launchers and try one out. When you press your home button it will let you choose sense or whichever other launcher you have installed. If you try one just read the instructions and play around with it. Plus search the market for themes built for the launcher you d/l. (for example...search ADW themes in the market) Everything on your sense screens will remain the same. If you want to stick with sense 3.0 that comes with BAMF 3.0 try some BAMF themes. I would check out rootzwiki or teambamf.net. I doubt you will find them here.

I'm being given one of these at work. Coming from Sense I reckon it'll be a real shock to the system and 1 I'm not looking forward to!
I got used to the beautiful Sense widgets with their well-designed and consistent look and feel. Can anyone tell me what stock widgets are included please?
Thanks everyone

Sorry, I think that I have not really get your point/issue?!
You want to have (HTC) "Sense"-like widgets on your SGS2?
Just you are used to them and like their optic?
Come on ... Samsung designes its hardware for TouchWiz.
If you were asking about getting rid of all Samsung bloatware to come to "pure" (Google) Android, then I would understand you.
For Sense-like apps and widgets, you have to search for yourself.
But you will find some threads about this topic.
Hi It_ler
Thanks for your reply but I think you've misunderstood. I know I'm not going to get Sense-like widgets with Touchwiz. I was using Sense as an example of the sort of widgets that COULD be included in Touchwiz (if you're familiar with Sense). For example, the Sense Facebook chat widget or the FriendStream widget (those are just EXAMPLES, btw!)
What I'm asking is what widgets are provided out of the box with Touchwiz?
So no-one can tell me what the stock widgets are on this device?
Hi all,
Recently received my HTC Flyer in the mail, and the first thing I did was install LeeDroid Honeycomb (holding off on the ICS ROMs for now, as they are still working out some bugs/issues with the ROMS) . I see that you can download something to remove the HTC Sense UI on LeeDroid.
This is my first foray into HTC products, and I sort of like the way Sense looks (particularly the clock/weather widget). However, my suspicion is that the Flyer might run faster if I removed Sense altogether. Judging by the other threads on the Desire, Sensation and Shift forums, people do seem to think that Sense uses more resources, though some people do like the apps and widgets available.
For those of you on LeeDroid, did you opt to keep or remove Sense? Why did you make that decision? Were there any apps/widgets, etc. that are only available on Sense that convinced you to leave Sense on the Flyer?
No Sense to remove Sense?
There is no rational reason to remove Sense, it won't speed your device or make it "snappier" because the Flyer has gobs of memory., if you want to use a different launcher, install what you wish and you can toggle back and forth at will. Sense has a few unique widgets like the email widget that you cannot find anywhere else at any price and of course the Pen functions if you use that.

Thanks for your thoughts!
Removing Sense from an HTC device is like buying a Ferrari and saying, "I love this car, but I'm gonna trash the engine and install this motor my brother-in-law Billy built in his basement."
I use the stock launcher; I like the look and feel of it. Lee makes that available via a different file and it's just an app install. I do occassionally miss the Calendar and Mail widgets, but Jorte is a suitable repalcement for me and the Mail app pulls all my Mail account up properly.

On my previous HTC device I never liked Sense except for the widgets. However, on the Flyer I am using it and rather enjoy it. My opinion would be to keep it on, use it for a while, try out the stock launcher provided as a comparison, and if for some reason you don't want it than there is always the option to remove. One of the things that does bug me about Sense compared to other custom launchers is no resize of widgets and no native folder support.
